It was a very good episode. I enjoyed it a lot. I missed the start, so I was wondering who wrote it? It was very good, wry, funny, and just plain good.
-
Yeah,its funny because
a friend of mine and I were having
a discussion on time travel and we talked about if you travelled
back in time, where would you be?
On the surface?or in the middle
of space since the earth is moving
And a few days later, they show the
2 hour movie,whcih contains a
reference to that theory,in the
show,the operator of the capsule
has to keep it close to the earth
as time rewinds.
The guy in space was a failure. -
Yeah, I wondered about that too. I guess if his other self disappears everytime he backsteps, maybe the sphere does too?
-
That guy in space was seen in the very beginning of the pilot. My thought is that it was the END of the series. Think about it the last episode for whatever reason will probably be this guy having a massive backstep failure and goin back more than seven days, the shpere breaks open and he flies off into space with the sphere orbiting the earth. Afterall, the group said that the only thing they had sent back were two probes, no people...
BTW, last weeks episode was a little week with the Miracle Cure, but this weeks rocked. Only shows the potential for the series if they get with it... -
Pod in space ... the pod in space with the corpse is him - remember it was at day 1 the same day the version of time we saw in the 2 hour movie went back and wound up in space - this one was were the guy did blow a hole in the window before he slid out, and it decompressed in space.
One thing that bugs me - were the hell is the pod's parachute? The first two shows have him reentering the timestream in low earth orbit and going through reentry ... go ask the russians what happens to people when they reenter without a parachute ... it's not a nice thing :)
There is a theory for why he and the pod of the target timeline are replaced by the new ones.
In 3d space - if you have length of string, you grab one end, and whip it around to meet were the other end is in space ( ie a circle) - now the rope has a set length in 3d space. So yanking one end is going to also yank on the lagging end.
Since all objects have a length in 4d space - the length of time that object exists as an object ( while the human body is made up of trillions of trillions of objects with set times - starting and ending - were only interested in the length of time they overall object exists - in the guys case from conception to eventul decay of the body - same with the pod - from it's completion to the point it falls apart for what ever reason )
So if you yank the object at point A - forward in time, and whip it around to some point B backward in time - the 3d "instance" of the object at point B should be pulled forward towards point A - moving whatever distance in time A is from B.
The only problem with this is - he shouldn't disapear unless you went back before his conception - what would happen under this assumption - is the object at point B would appear to be "regressing" in the eyes of the people who are along the timestream the object/person is moving. So lets say he cut his hand a week ago, it heals over and people see this ... so when he steps back a few weeks later - the instances along the way would see him "desyncronize" with them - the "older" self would be moving faster - and the relativly stationary observer would see the wound re-open then dissapear as he is pulled forward in time relative to the observer.
Ok - so this rant dosn't solve anything as far as the show is going - but it might make for another interesting "effect" to have in the show :)

This week's episode is so far the best, and the Voyager episode was pretty good too. Now, maybe, just maybe, the Backstep people implanted some kind of device within Parker that, whenever he uses Backstep, his counterpart disappears in some way, or there's some sort of merging between them. I can't explain it, maybe if he were to travel back to the future after the mission was complete, then things might change (i.e. BACK TO THE FUTURE, TIMECOP). Anyway, 7 Days is a good show despite it's flaws, and it does have great potential. This series makes me miss QUANTUM LEAP a bit, but I love the character of Parker and this past episode showed us a great amount of his personality and J.L.'s acting talent.

So it looks like his past self disappears ...
wouldn't that mean the past spehere would disapear?
then why does everyone act so surprised when he calls them, can't they tell he went back in time becuase the sphere is missing?
Oh well ...
great ep. -
I have a class on Wednesdays from
7-9pm, so I miss this show every
week. I managed to catch the replay of the pilot on UPN13 the Sunday after it originally aired,
(which was really cool, IMO)
but I was unable to find a replay of the second episode at the same time this past Sunday...so my question is: does anyone know if UPN plans to repeat it every week, al least in LA? And if so, could someone tell me when? Thanks...
