Oh well...
-
I just hope HBO gives the show a big send-off... a kick-ass final episode that tides everything up in a cocksucking bow.
-
Am I missing something here? I thought that Deadwood was HBO's most popular series behind the Sopranos? Is there something else going on that would make them want to kill one of their best shows in its prime?
-
This is uncool news.
-
I would like more info on why.
A big send off would be nice and totally deserved. -
If this season has already been wrapped up. HBO needs to do right by it's fans and at least do a 2 hour Deadwood movie to air next year. Just to tie everything up for it's loyal fans.
-
Well, if that's the case, I hope they are able to make Season 3's arc come to a fitting conclusion. To fail in this is no way to treat your fellow cocksuckers.
-
If it didn't do so well in the first place, I'd still have my Carnivale. [/bitterness]
-
Deadwood is THE best thing on TV. Do the right thing HBO.
-
Carnivale... They wrapped the 2nd season BEFORE knowing they weren't picked up, So the season ended with a cliffhanger and now we'll never know what happens. HBO had the balls to release a statement saying they felt they had completed the story. Cliffhanger, by its very definition, means that the story is not over. If if is cancelled, hopefully you Deadwood fans at least got a wrapped up third season arc by the finale and no frustrating series finale cliffhangers.
-
Yep, another Carnivale fan here.
-
No hyperbole.
-
I'm still bitter that HBO changed Carnivale's time slot from 9 to 10PM EST with about three episodes left in the second season, just so they could usher in the second season premiere of Deadwood. With my twisted sense of logic, I keep thinking that Carnivale would still be on had it not been for that... (and I actually loved the first season of Deadwood...)
-
First Arrested Development, now Deadwood. Well, at least we still have Nanny 911, Wife Swap, According to Jim, and the War at Home /sarcasm
-
Just because they have not picked it up yet does not mean they won't. It was awhile after the last season of The Wire and Rome before they were picked up for another season. So all hope is not lost yet.
-
This is the best writing on TV!!! How can you cocksuckers cancel it????
-
Way to go, Milch! Deadwood is THE best series on TV (sorry 24 and Lost), and now you're contemplating ditching it for an hour long SURFING series. Ass head bastard
-
100 years later, everyone's dead.
-
How does (did) it rank compared to other HBO dramas like Sopranos, Big Love, etc?
-
Worst news I've heard in awhile. As far as ranking to other HBO dramas, it far, FAR surpasses them, in my opinion. Ian McShane starts off as one of the most coldhearted characters I've ever seen, but throughout the course of the show, becomes the definitive anti-hero. This is such sad news to see it's gone after this season.
-
I'm guessing since it's heading into its third season, it probably won't gain any new viewers, so it may be it's last. Maybe if we all put our nerdy heads together, we can come up with a Watchmen series for HBO. Just an idea of mine....anyway, I trust HBO to pump one more season out. Then, it might be quits.
-
deadwood never quite acheived its full potential as an 1890s sopranos but it was still pretty interesting. at the very least, al swearengen deserves his own spinoff.
-
Releasing Actors or rumors don't end this show. Or HBO execs or fucking surfer dramas. The show ends when you're cancelled. Until then, you got more Deadwood in store. Stand it like a fan... and give some back- -http://tinyurl.com/nntno
-
i love that fat chinaman.. the first season was pimp as all hell.. the second season was only highlighted by the fight between the sheriff(forgot his name) and swearingen. i cant wai for season 3.. this is one of the B E S T shows on tv besides 24 and lost. LONG LIVE DEADWOOD!
-
I thought they were signed for a fourth season.
-
I gotta admit, I thought last season was a bit lackluster storywise, but the writing makes up for it. And everyone is so good.
-
I had a feeling this would happen. Rome, I love you, but like Romulus to Remus, you suck too fervently at HBO's teat, and the other pups are starving.
Teatsuckers. -
Sounds gay as fuck.
-
Tit licker!!!
-
...in the preferred tongue of my immediate peer group, among whom I count a corrupt saloon owner and abuser of women, a black-eyed sheriff who is dallying with the richest and most beautiful woman in our squalid little town, a perpetually ill-tempered doctor, and a nasty little slip of a girl whom everyone else thinks is adorable; yea, in the words of the hoopleheaded masses: YA GODDAMN PUSBAG ASSLICKIN FUCKWAD COCKSUCKERS! A POX ON ALL OF YE, AND BE DAMNED TO HELL! Seriously, though: how many more things could happen in Deadwood before everyone either got the hell out of there, or the town blew up? At least THIS show will get three seasons, while Carnivale only, and unfairly, got two. Can't wait for the start of the new season, though; I'm praying for more Molly Parker nudity!
-
But the acting is the only think keeping it going. The story has dragged a little, but it is also based on real events so I guess they can only take so much liberty with the story.
-
COCKSUCKERS!!!!!
-
What conceivable Godly use is our protracted suffering to you? What conceivable Godly use? What conceivable Godly use was the screaming of all those fans? Did you, did you need to hear our death agonies to know your

Couldn't'a said it better if I were mayor of the city and ran a hotel...oh wait...these moments of senility are addling me yet again...
-
No shit. I wish I was kidding but I'm not: http://tinyurl.com/s3m6v . How much a kick in the teeth will that be; 7th Heaven comes back but Veronica Mars doesn't?
-
Some ancient Italian maxim fits our situation, whose particulars escape me.
-
Only to bring this back? And they make no sense. The fans of this show (Shocking that there are fans of 7th Heaven) were pretty pissed on the EOnline message boards about the finale. Why risk bringing back a fading show that seems to have alienated it's core base of loyal fans?
-
No shit. I wish I was kidding but I'm not: http://tinyurl.com/s3m6v . How much a kick in the teeth will that be; 7th Heaven comes back but Veronica Mars doesn't?
-
Damn refresh key that posted that 7th heaven item twice...
-
The CW's fall drama pilots turned out to be stinkbombs of Pink Lady and Jeff epic badness and they need a dependable hour-long drama ratings grabber. Desperation, this soon, doesn't bode well for the CW and this is six full days before their upfronts.
-
ENTERPRISE!!!!!
-
But it doesn't mean the show is defintely cancelled. For me the only possible benefit could be that instead of a 4th season of Deadwood HBO have decided to have a 5th season of the Wire. I like Deadwood a hell of a lot, but I love the Wire.
-
I like me some Rome, Sorpranos and Entourage but nowhere near as much as I love Deadwood.
-
Cat piss smellin' FUCKHEADS
-
And so, Deadwood will saunter off and join other classics of television programs as Dark Angel, Titus, Undeclared, Action, That 80's Show, Wonder Falls, Fast Lane, Andy Richter Controls The Universe, Skin, Girl's Club, Cracking Up, The Pitts, Firefly, Get Real, Freaky Links, Wanda At Large, Costello, The Lone Gunman, A Minute with Stan Hooper, Normal Ohio, Pasadena, Harsh Realm, Keen Eddy, The Street, American Embassy, Cedric The Entertainer, The Tick, Louie, And Greg The Bunny....
-
Remember Angel? It depends on how you want to view it.. Okay, I agree the show didn't intend on that being THE end, but it's enough of a "the villain didn't actually die" open-ended endings that I can accept. *** Anyway, Deadwood needs to bring back Ricky Jay to do some card handling. He's too cool w/ a deck of cards and his character just sort of disappeared. :(
-
Of course many Carnivale fans were Deadwood fans too, so this stucks for all. Here's hoping they don't withold the DVD of season 3.
-
Alien Nation, Angel, Benson, Carnivale, Crime Story, Deadwood, Dynasty, Emerald Point NAS, Lois & Clark, Peyton Place, Quantum Leap, Twin Peaks, X-Files...
"How's Annie?" -
...accepting this is if HBO were to bring back Carnivale. The only possible way. I highly doubt that's the case, though, so the gist just might be that we're shit out of luck. Just another bloodstain on HBO's floor. Chris Albrecht: "Yeah, I...I'm gonna get to that."
-
Love everyone on this tb talking in Faux-Deadwood speak - best was Biscuit Turner's riff on Brad Dourif's fuckin remarkable monologue from season 1 (Mommy! Mommmy!!!) This is easily the best show on t.v. and I warn HBO that if indeed it only makes it to season 3 Ima have to go kill me some whores and feed em to Wu's pigs. You cocksuckers want that on your conscience?
-
Uh, that's all I have to say.
-
Get out and do something. Seriously, it is scary that someone would bring that up in 2006.

"HBO is getting an itchy trigger finger for another season of its Western drama "Deadwood." Although the third season of the series isn't rolling out until June, sources say the premium cable service is close to greenlighting a fourth season. HBO declined comment. Sources suggested HBO chairman and CEO Chris Albrecht was encouraged to move ahead with "Deadwood" after seeing progress made on production of Season 3. As many as eight of the 12 episodes ordered already have been shot. "
(Jan 06/06) -
According to eOnline the contracts don't expire until June 11th, the date of the season 3 premiere. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,19013,00.html Hopefully this is just some posing by HBO (like they did with thinking of cancelling ROME/The Wire) to build buzz before the beginning of the new season. Milch has been saying over the last 6 months that he envisioned the show going for 4 seasons, those that know the history of the town realise that there is a perfect point comming up to finish it. To kill it off one season short is just cruel.
-
but SOAP definitely did.
-
Quantum Leap finale was written as a cliffhanger until they heard the series was cancelled then they rewrote the ending to "conclude" the series with the lousy line: "Dr. Sam Beckett never returned home."
Benson ended with a gubernatorial race between the title character and his former employer which was never resolved. Not a great cliffhanger ending, but a question left unresolved.
-
and then we'll all hang ourselves
-
Between this possibility, the end of the Sopranos and the limited number of Rome episodes being produced, please God let them bring back Carnivale. I love Deadwood and the Sopranos is great, but Carnivale is like crack. And I need my crack back...
-
And gave us a finale that will end the series on a good note - unlike Carnivale, which got axed one season short of the much-lauded 3-season story Arc. Fucking HBO.
-
Don't jinx it. That is EXACTLY what HBO did to Carnivale... cut it off one season shy of it's pre-outlined conclusion. I would HATE for the same thing to happen to Deadwood as the idea of another unfinished story leaves a real sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.
-
Let's see... 3 more episodes of Sopranos, June-Deadwood season 3, September- The Wire season 4, January '07-8 more Sopranos episodes, March '07-Rome season 2 (I'm guessing on that one), June '07-either Deadwood season 4...or I just cancel HBO
-
Tony and crew get sucked into a Time Tunnel and end up in Deadwood where they try to get a piece of the action, but the old school hardasses in town are having none of it and kill them all, except for Tony who is sucked back into the present, but all of his crew is dead and his crime family kaput. So he really does become a garbage man. The last scene is Tony getting on the back of a garbage truck and crying because not only is his life in shambles, but the time travel left him impotent, and the last tine is Tony saying "Deadwood. That's exactly what I got.". FIN, bitch.
-
three seasons may be the best option. This season will hopefully- and probably- own. And who really wants a great show to outstay it's welcome? Looking at you, SFU...
-
I got into Deadwood while going through between-season Sopranos withdrawl symptoms. It grew on me as the first season went along and I came to love it as its own unique little beast. What I love about both shows are the larger themes lying below the surface. Both shows deal with lowlifes operating in a microcosm of America/the world and have pushed the boundaries of what TV can do.I still think The Sopranos is the greatest show ever concieved but love Deadwood and all its characters. A shame to see it go.
-
even if they cancel "deadwood" (god, i fucking hope they don't ... it's my favorite hbo show), at least we'd *sort of* know what happened even after the show ended: http://adamsmuseumandhouse.org/. of course, wikipedia also has pretty detailed biographies of most of the major characters on "deadwood." seems like the show's writers are pretty closely following the real history, which is rather cool.
-
Do not... I repeat... do not cancel this show. It's by far the best written/acted series on TV right now, and knocks Lost and the like right out of the park. Do yourselves and us all a big favour and continue with this.
-
It looks like David Milch might be the party responsible. He and HBO are actively developing a "surf noir" series.
-
Anybody remember that show? Absolutely the most aggravating dead-show-cliffhanger I have ever suffered.
-
BRUTAL, I tell you. That is still one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. Duckman's last episode even had "Part one" in the title. Miracles also ended in a cliffhanger of sorts, as the last episode that aired was "Hand of God" which basically opened up the entire plot for the show, and is just a fantastic hour of television. And me just THINKING about Cooper's face while laughing through "How's Annie?" makes me smile. What a terrific show/character.
-
C'mon, how awesome would that be, considering the intricacy of Deadwood's plotlines. This cocksucker writing rebels, bounty hunters and Imperial villains would be better than a piece of 2 dollar pussy. and you KNOW how good that is.
-
People - begging, pleading, threatening, cancelling your subscription - it dosn't matter to HBO. They love to cancel shows one season short - I think it's a hobby of theirs. This is cutting too close to be indecisiveness - every time HBO has done this in the past it's resulted in a cancellation. Deadwood is probably dead - cope with it - just like us Carnivale fans have had to.
-
Not a threat, a promise. After fucking up Carnivale so badly, I will cancel my stupid subscription if they make the same mistake with Deadwood. I will download the last episodes of the Sopranos. I love Rome, but it's not enough for me to pay $12/month. Big Love, I'm watching it but that would be a series to cancel, not cocksucking Deadwood. Swearingen is simply the most compelling character on television. What the fuck happened to HBO anyway? Did they get new management a few years back? I've been a loyal viewer ever since Dream On. If they're gonna take their cues from the big three crapworks, then I'm gone.
