Info Update on Tarantino and that whole Purple Haze of rumors!

Published at:  Apr 28, 2006 3:22:41 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here. I know you folks have been seeing bullshit rumors about Quentin Tarantino and a Jimi Hendrix Biopic. It's appeared on the New York Post's PAGE SIX, Yahoo and Various Music News sites... and all around the web. Well... tis total bullshit. When Quentin came over to chat tonight - I asked him if he'd heard the rumors about his next film project after he finishes GRINDHOUSE. When I said he was rumored to be making the Purple Haze of Biopics, he just began shaking his head. "Complete Fabrication." "There's not even an iota of truth to it." When I told him it was all over the web, we both began laughing. Total Lie. So what is he working on? Frankly - QT fest isn't about interrogating Quentin, it's about celebrating older films like tonight's triple bill of THE OUTFIT, DION BROTHERS and THE MUTHERS. However, we did learn tonight that Quentin has been working on a book of Film Reviews of 70's Kung Fu Films. He says not to expect it anytime soon, that it's just something he does in his in-between moments and has been working on for quite some time. Other than that, he's gearing up to start shooting his segment of GRINDHOUSE - and for tonight - that's all the news that's fit to print regarding Quentin.

    What's Tarantino doing next?

    by leiadown&fuckher

Not fucking much probably, just snorting coke, sprouting cool ideas that will likely never happen, and "being Quentin" - if history is any indication anyhow. I like the majority of the guys film work, but his nigh on non existant work ethic is pretty damn frustrating. I mean how many projects get talked up or promised until he actually gets off his ass and makes one?

Maybe he ought to do a Hendrix flick...

    by dr_buggerlugs

...okay so it's a complete fabrication but who wouldn't want to see Quentin leave his comfort zone and attempt a project like this? Blow off all this Deathproof stuff, put away that video collection, stop buying coke for a few months and let's see him apply his vision to the life of a real life person, and a fucking icconic one at that too...that'd be a fascinating film to see - the 'rock star director' actually making a film about a true rock and roll star - am I the only person who wants to see Tarantino test himself?

release Kill Bill as 1 fucking film & i might care

    by realdoublej

I won't give a shit about QT until he gives a shit about his fans. and that's fans who don't come up to him, smell his ass and call it "booberry". Look, it's not our fault you ruined your epic to split it up for more profit. The fact that the end of Vol. 1 completely negates any emotional gravitas for Vol.2 & it certainly isn't our fault we were fucking smart enough to not buy bare-bone discs when we knew there were double-dips in the works. So how bout you treat us with some respect & dignity for a change, and not a bunch of assclowns you think will show up for anything with your name on it.

News is that a rumor is not news

    by moviemaniac-7

Anyhow, hadn't heard that before, but it's a nice rumour. And Tarantino would, if true, be a total and complete wrong choice for the part. There are better directors with a musical background who could do a great job with Hendrix' life.

    It's obvious this was unfounded

    by wee willie

QT isn't 'about' the psychedelic '60's. That's not his thing at all. QT seems to be more about the swingin', pop-culture sixties. More Monkees than Beatles, Rat Pack than Woodstock, Cheap Pulpy paperbacks than Tom Robbins, More Matt Helm and James Bond than Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix.

'Scuse me while I kiss this guy...

    by oceansized

But seriously, I love Hendrix as much as anyone, but he wouldn't be the best subject for a biopic. Offstage he was really reserved, his debauchery wasn't on the level of Morrison. And funny as it may sound, other than make timeless music and die young, he didn't do a whole lot of interest. Unless the flick was specifically about a life cut short in the middle of its second act, it probably wouldn't be much more than one of those VH1 musician bios.

Yeah, please get The Green Hornet movie back out of development hell where it's been for more than 10 years. Kevin Smith already wrote the script after backing out of directing duties. Come on QT! You da man!

We watched Judge Judy and yelled "ni@#er" whenever a black person came on. Then we giggled. Then we held hands and skipped to 7-11 for Kamikaze slurpees. Did I mention that this is me 'n "QT" that I am talking about? Yeah, we're bff and he gets the best reviews from me for like infinity so there.

    by buster00

If six was nine, then MAYBE. Until then, QT should be ashamed. ASHAMED, I say. There are many here among us who feel this film is just TOO SOON.
