Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. First of all, I have to fess up. I haven't ever read Richard Matheson's original I AM LEGEND novel. I have the book sitting right here in front of me, but I'm saving it for my international travel next month (looks like I'll have two different jaunts across two different oceans) along with Ray Bradbury's MARTIAN CHRONICLES and a new Max Allan Collins detective story from Hard Case Crime.

However, I am a fan of OMEGA MAN and LAST MAN ON EARTH, which are both based on Matheson's story. I also really like Will Smith. He's got charisma and some real deal talent (look at ALI if you don't believe me), but I really don't feel him in this role. The project was thought dead, but it seems Warners has resurrected the film with Smith still in the lead. I don't have a good feeling about it. Hopefully Smith, Warner Bros and CONSTANTINE director Francis Lawrence will prove my fears unfounded. I can't wait to dive into the classic novel myself. What do you folks think?
