Never fear! Banky Edwards is here!!!

Published at:  Apr 26, 2006 3:29:20 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I swear, this UNDERDOG movie is tearing me in two. The rational side of my brain is telling me it's going to suck. "Look at GARFIELD. Hell, look at THE ADVENTURES OF ROCKY & BULLWINKLE. There's no way this is going to be anything other than a painful train wreck." But then my irrational side says, "Jason Lee is voicing Underdog... and Peter Dinklage is playing an evil scientist villain named Simon Barsinister. How could this movie not be anything but a masterpiece?"

As James Dean famously screamed, "You're tearing me apart!!!" So, yeah. That's the news. Jason Lee is voicing the titular Underdog. I think that's actually a pretty nifty bit of casting. God, don't be ROCKY & BULLIWINKLE or DUDLEY DO-RIGHT...

    I disagree.

    by coursinlarry

Wha? Jason Lee sounds nothing LIKE Underdog. Even at his most buff, Underdog still sounded like a weenie. I like Jason Lee, and he was good as Syndrome, but...I'll just have to wait and see some footage.

maybe if Venom is in this...

    by pencil-man

...but I never liked Underdog, Bullwinkle, Super Chicken, or Dudley. The animation looked murky. Now Hong-Kong Phooey...

If there was a fight between Banky and Brodie... well, I shudder at the potiential violence.

See, I can actually see this

    by terry_1978

Go watch one of the old Underdog episodes and listen to his voice. Then listen to Jason Lee, with his semi-high pitched voice. It was always kinda operatic similar to Mighty Mouse, but Lee can do it.

    Rocky and Bullwinkle wasn't great...

    by bungion boy

but it was much much better and faithful to its source than something like Garfield. It wasn't a good movie, but it didn't break my heart like some other films of the last few years.

    Rocky and Bullwinkle

    by profheff

Yeah..R & B actually was real faithful to the source and certainly nothing like that real super-train wreck "Boris and Natasha" with Jason Alexander and Sally Kellerman...that movie truly was a stinker! And at this stage of the game, I'll give Underdog a chance...but, of course, that could change in a heartbeat....

Is the Underdog dialogue gonna be rhymed?

    by otter

I think Lee could pull it off in a falsetto... might be interesting.
