You will hand over Mary Jane and Aunt May to me... Dark Jedi Spidey?

Ahoy, squirts. Quint here. It seems that fake Spider-Man pics are a dime a million right now. I don't have a good feeling about this one, either. So, why am I posting it? Well, the red-headed Taskmaster demanded it be done and it's one I haven't seen floating around yet. I've gotten a few behind the scenes pics that supposedly feature Spidey in his black suit, but they all felt fake to me. This one is the best looking of those that have been trickling in and plus... he's got a Jedi outfit on. Practically screams to be posted on AICN, no? So, enjoy this probable fake. Thanks to "supes" for the pic, even if you're just pulling our leg. Discuss your thoughts below.

    The left leg looks wierd

    by ChorleyFM

It would make sense though, if there was a black costume to try and cover him up to stop photos. If it is reall I still think the shiny black runner web stuff should have been white with a bigger spider.

  • April 25, 2006, 3:49 a.m. CST

This was probably taken on an S&M party, actually.

    by SalvatoreGravano

Regardless, this photo has better acting skills than Hayden Christensen ever will.

  • April 25, 2006, 3:52 a.m. CST

By the way, if I were Raimi, I would now shoot...

by SalvatoreGravano opening scene where the Spiderman, giving chase after [rank bobbers], falls into a vat of tar, black paint, etc., and emerges all wet... and black. Just to enrage all those coming into the film and expecting a black spider in it. And *then* I would concentrate on shooting the actual black spider footage. :)

I can't tell if it's fake or not. I sort of hope it is, because I really hope the Spider-Man logo is white in the finished product.

    by Southfield

I don't this pic is fake. I think this is a ploy, a very clever ploy to basically 'hide in plain site' . You can't hide a movie like spidey, it's too big. People will move heaven and earth to get the answers they want. So give everyone what the want. In HUGE quantities. Maybe these fakes are not so fake. Maybe they're real but touched up to look like fakes. Hmmmm? Anyone agree/disagree.

    An obvious fake

    by Monsterism

Check out where the right arm runs... you can see wherever the original cloak came from, the wearer has some kind of long-sleeved overcoat pressing against the cloak where the right hand is tucked into his trouser pocket. PS: Chicken George will you marry my babies?

  • April 25, 2006, 6:10 a.m. CST

    by Monsterism

The whole head-robe section is drawn on, and the left (our right) of the cloak has been cut at an odd angle so that we can see his left foot. I think the original photo was probably from something like The Punisher actually, the right arm has possibly been melded into the outside of the overcoat to create a cloak. PS: AICN gets it wrong again!

  • April 25, 2006, 6:19 a.m. CST

    by dimnix

are you retarded? "AICN gets it wrong again"? Did you even read Quint's article? He outright claims he thinks it's a fake, but one worth sharing.

As for everyone else... love the comment by whoever about how the hood was drawn on, and the feet were fake, and it was taken from The Punisher... welcome to Earth losers!_______ As for the 'hidden image'... yeah, they decided to create a teaser poster that requires us to mirror flip it, hang it upside down, close one eye, click our heels 3 times... so we can see some teeth. Here is a fact. They don't care enough to bother.

    by FordPerfect

We all know that this picture is a fake. However, it doesn't change the fact that that the costume is going to look like that, we all saw the teaser poster! So regardless of it being a fraud it still doesn't change the fact that the suit will look just like that. There might be a minor tweak or two, but that is what it is going to look like.

    Deffinately leaning towards fake

    by Knightsong

Looks pretty good, but the one thing that the pictures have lacked so far is texture on the suit. The promotional picture clearly shows texture to the suit and none of the pictures we've seen so far show that. To clarify what I'm talking about, it's not the webbing it's the spaces in between. Both the black and red/blue suits have a pattern or texture to the material given by heavy silk screening. This picture, and the previous don't have that. So I'm gonna say fake.

All that analysis. All that "The line of the arm is wrong and the foot is wrong, thus it must be fake"... I LOVE that it's NOT drawn on, it's NOT all Frankensteined, the foot ISN'T wrong, it's just a mirror and desaturate. (Good masking, though, especially down near the foot, where it goes behind the blur of the car.) Guys. It was obviously a fake. The post SAYS it was a fake. ...why the image of the Hulk...possibly a design still from the forthcoming sequel...that I've offered to send in has piqued no interest from Harry and Co? I mean, simply because my seven-month-old foot-painted it on St. Patrick's Day doesn't mean it isn't what the Hulk might look like in the sequel...if there were going to be a sequel. It's easily as relevant as these black Spidey fan art threads that keep popping up.

If anyone else had posted the same thing you had done I might have caught the joke, but you have a well-deserved reputation for bitterly defending virtually every conservative issue in existence as well as just about every decision made by the current administration. Also, while decrying liberal trolling in the TBs, you are also very quick to swallow their bait and launch into lengthy conservative diatribes. With that in mind, your post seemed more like a disingenuous attempt at "anti-trolling" rather than satire. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

They mirrored it and altered the color. Great job to whoever did it. Can hardly tell. Wait, maybe he was black, then they mirrored it, colored it red and blue, then put it on superherohype!!! LOL

I can't believe anyone still thinks this could be real, or that you care, actually. Look, modern technology has given us the miracle of Photoshop. one of Photoshop's magical powers is to make something that's in color black and white. it's like a lightswitch- first it's in color, >switch!< now it's in B+W! Amazing!! actually, it's really not amazing. It would be amazing to switch it back, that would be complicated, but making it black and white is something anyone could learn how to do in about 2 and a half minutes. Could we please move on to important things, like demanding some goddamn X3 news please?

It's been there for months, that's why these fake pics have been coming round. AICN has been posting every piece of Spidey Fan art they find and claiming its real, yet X3 comes out in 30 days and they're ignoring it so hopefully we'll forget how they bashed it so much before it was even done being written. Now it looks like it will be the best X-movie byfar and they're gradually having everyone on the site but Harry give it more an more praise, little by little while Harry waits in the shadows, and comes out when it premieres to praise it, ignoring he ever bashed it.

We all know if a real shot turned up Sony wouldn't let AICN run it.

I have noticed the utter lack of coverage lately. I guess that's the hole you dig yourself into when the basis of your website is making snap judgments on films that haven't even started shooting yet.

I want the BIG white spider around his core, wrapping to his back, seamlessly. The COMIC design dammit! The original they used for the movie was perfect, this one needs a tweak. That silverish spider on his chest looks to "halloween costume" like, so that makes me know it must be fake. But if not... I will be v e r y disappointed.

    Who gives a fuck already?

    by Doc_Strange

Jesus, we've already seen the horrid design done with what could have been a great costume. So does one more picture of it do anything else except make me loathe it more? Honestly, yes. The costume sucks, the last two movies sucked and have aged terribly. Will the wannabe ESB third installment suck? Most likely.

Off topic, but what the hell...

I just read an article about James Cameron going off at some convention about how 3D cinema is teh wave of the future, it will get asses back in the seats and he absolutely blasted day and date releases like Soderberg's Bubble. FUCK HIM!!!! This makes me so goddamn angry. The film industry is in a sort of transition right now, tilting back to the kind of balance that we had in the 70's and I'm sorry, I don't want to see the Godfather in 3D. He says that rereleases of classic films with 'dimensionalization' will save the industry. But to me, it seems more like the dying dinosaurs are filmmakers like Cameron, Lucas, and Peter Jackson. We've seen pretty much everything we can possibly see and they did some pretty amazing things with fantasy and science fiction/adventure movies over the last 30 years and I think THAT'S what audiences are tiring of. I saw Bubble and felt that Soderberg, like James Gray did with The Yards, came so close to the 70's aesthetic that they're yearning for so much. They just have yet to be a little more showy with the camera, like Scorsese, and they still need to let a charismatic actor inhabit a central role the way that people like Nicholson used to. I have nothing against Cameron... I love The Terminator films, love Aliens, I just really believe that this 3D seems more like the last gasp for THAT type of filmmaking, not that films need to get bigger, they need to get smaller and more intimate, more in touch with people's lives. When people are staying home in droves to watch The Sopranos, 24, Desperate Housewives, Big Love, Lost, etc., what do all of these films have in common? They take chances, they're well written, and they have INTERESTING CHARACTERS. While I still think you can have a big success like Lord of the Rings or Spiderman, now more than ever they need to take chances and not overload these films, as they always seem to lately, with boring cliches and empty spectacle. People like to see people up there, with all their foibles, yearnings, anger, betrayals... you name it. I think the audiences are really just sick of going to the movies and feeling like the filmmakers didn't swing for the fences the way a lot of television seems to these days. And SHAME on Cameron and anyone else who's pissed at Soderberg for day and date with Bubble. If that helps smaller, more interesting and artistic films get made within a system, the way they used to get made, then I'm all for it. Listen to any commentary on one of his smaller films and you can tell that only cares about making interesting movies and finding ways that allow that to happen within the system. Cameron doesn't have the exhibitors interests in mind, if he did he'd be championing a better cut in favor of the theaters, not making them spend more money on more equipment that might not really help and therefore could put them even more in the hole. What he's fighting against is the fact that sooner or later, the budgets are going to be dialed down, and they will no longer be willing to let him go play for 400 million dollars. The financial risks on these movies that seem like sure things, like King Kong, are catching up with everyone, and even if they're not really financial failures, the public often perceive them that way and, in the long run, that's not good for companies that want to keep the price of their stock on a steady rise and to seem like a good investment. Lastly, if you could actually GET a movie like Bubble onto a couple of screens, there would be no need to have day and date. What he's railing against isn't this, but the fact that a big name director did got involved in it. However, I GUARANTEE, if he has a big movie come out in the next few years and it doesn't do as well as he'd like, that fucking thing will be on DVD even faster than they're doing it now. And it's studios driving these decisions, not filmmakers, unless it's someone powerful like Cameron, so he shouldn't be directly attacking filmmakers.

Loved Bubble, actually. You're totally right about 3D being a last grasp. 3D will always be a novelty. It's such an old school thing to think of as a next step in the evolution of film.
