Twilight is upon Yoda and The Dink in DEATH AT A FUNERAL!!!

Published at:  Apr 19, 2006 1:34:34 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with news on everybody's favorite muppet-fister, Frank Oz. His next directorial outting is going to be a comedy called DEATH AT A FUNERAL starring Peter "The Dink" Dinklage and Ewen Bremner, a Bert and Ernie Odd Couple pairing if I've ever heard of one. PRIDE & PREJUDICE's Matthew Macfadyen fits in there somewhere, too.

The flick centers on the patriarch of a dysfunctional British family kicking the bucket and a man who threatens to expose the dead father's terrible secret (whatever the hell that is) if he isn't given a pile of money. Of course this sets the stage for a crazy funeral where the family is aiming to keep whatever this secret is hidden from all the guests.

Oz's recent stuff has been pretty bad (I couldn't even get through THE STEPFORD WIVES remake on a 12 hour flight where the screen was in the headrest in front of me). However, when he hits, he hits it out of the park. THE DARK CRYSTAL, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, WHAT ABOUT BOB? just to name a few. I like the talent he has lined up so far. I hope this is one of the good ones... It certainly has to be better than STEPFORD WIVES, right? "There... hrm... there is... a-noth-er... good... motion pic-ture... eeehhhh..."

Is he dropping out of Powers then?

He was still attached as the director last I heard. Hopefully someone else will be put aboard that and make a great movie, the concept is too fucking good, detectives in a superhero universe.

    Wow! Really was. Anyway....

That list of credits was far from inspiring. What About Bob? Jesus, I hold little hope.

And Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Bowfinger and In & Out?

    by judderman

Frank Oz has a pretty good track record all told; I can forgive him Stepford Wives. And Gennedy "Samarai Jack" Tartakovsky was slated to direct "Power of the Dark Crystal" (I assume that was what you were referring to). And... "The Dink"? Do we honestly assume that he appreciates us referring to him like that?

    The DaDinkaDink was awesome on...

Life As We Know It. Don't remember that show? I didn't think so, I was the only one that wached it. For a teen drama, it was suprisingly good, if not great.

Frank Oz was at his best on this one. And what a great cast : Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene - i love her ! - and Steve Martin !

    Bowfinger was hilarious.

And Spielberg totally ripped-off that film's movie-within-a-movie, Chubby Rain, in War Of The Worlds.

    Yep, loved Bowfinger

And this also sounds like it could be good (speaking as a Brit). But I'm still waiting for the similarly-themed Undertaking Betty/Plots With A View to find a release over here. I understand that it got a limited release in the States and the trailer was hilarious. Star Trek funerals and Walken dancing? I'm there.
