    A Reunion?

    by Pogue__Mahone

To bad they weren't reuniting for something worthwhile..... *sigh*

I'm so sick of this Angel / Buffy bullshit on this site

    by ZsAsZz

Both shows sucked nuts. I'm a geek in many ways too, but I can't understand why half the people here consider these two shows great or even watchable for that matter.

  • April 10, 2006, 9:21 p.m. CST

I agree on the lack of VM tb

    by nemesisdarkside

For me Whedon-verse reunions are always welcome. I enjoy them. Some people love Whedon shows, some people don't. I happen to love Whedon's shows and I dont begrudge anyone who doesnt. Please let's end this argument here. No need for this tb to digress into Whedon-fans vs. "haters". No need. If you can't stand Whedon, don't post. Simple. PS. this is Herc's domain, so of course his love of Whedon is gonna be highly evident, maybe too much at times but there you go.

    ZsAsZz, here's an idea

    by StrangeCo

Don't read the site if you don't like the content. This advice is supposed to work in regards to offensive television material and it ought to work for the internet as well. Hasta la vista, baby!

No prizes for guessing that was a wind up ...

The one thing this article was not going to be was about any continuation of Angel. Hopefully maybe later then ...

    No, here's the problem Strangeco.....

    by Hairy Nutsack

....there are shows that people actually watch and love that deserve weekly talkbacks, like the The Shield which only had 1 TB this season IIRC, but instead we get a TalkBack about this non-story? Seriously, who gives a crap about this except 14yo girls? I was a huge Buffy and Angel fan and I couldn't care less about this story.

There are those of us who remember times before Herc

    by The Funketeer

and we yearn for days gone by. I actually thought Herc was pretty cool when he took over the Coaxial section. Of course then he had all sorts of 24 scoops and he was picking up he slack for El Cosmico who dropped the ball big time after Glen left. Since then, he's taken a section that is supposed to be about all things Television and turned it into all things Herc. I have no problem with Whedon talkbacks as long as other shows that appeal to a large number of readers on this site are also given space. Instead we get stupid posts about a two bit Buffy reunion that no one besides Herc and a couple of other rabid fanboys care about while at the same time people are begging for Shield, or Alias, or The Wire or Veronica Mars talkbacks. And while we look here for news about genre tv shows, instead we get Herc sucking up to Warren Ellis and Alan Moore if he can find even the slightest justification to drop their names in his posts. I realize this is an amatuer news site but it's still a news site and it would be nice if he would display just a little professionalism. Every one of the writers on this site has their own little negative quirks but Herc is by far the worst. I think it's time to let Merrick take a crack at it and see what he can do with Coaxial because it's pretty much become a joke on the site.

    Well said Funketeer.....

    by Hairy Nutsack

I can't speak on AICN past, but I can speak on AICN present. How many stories have we been assaulted with that had a tenuous link to Buffy/Angel/Firefly? How often do we get subjected to "Oh by the way (person in article) wrote an episode of (Whedon show) once." in a non-Whedonverse story? Better yet, why is the Firefly DVDs featured prominently in the current Starbuck/BSG thread? Something wrong with the DVDs for the fucking show the article is actually about? I'm sure Amazon would let you pimp BSG DVDs too. Christ, I own the Firefly DVDs myself and I'm sick of seeing them plastered on every gorram page. (see how I cleverly used gorram to indicate I've watched the show?) Enough already, give us some Buffy/Angel/Firefly news when the news is actually about Buffy/Angel/Firefly, and not about some wretched sitcom no one is watching.....Before anyone says anymore bullshit like "then don't read the TB then", well read the title of the article and tell why I, being a Buffy/Angel/Firefly fan, wouldn't have clicked that link? No, I get sucked in ON PURPOSE with the bullshit title only to be subjected to another Herc wetdream non-story.

    Why we love Whedon

    by Acappellaman

To be totally honest, there was a time I wouldn't give Buffy the time of day. I watched one episode - I believe it was in season 2 - just because I wanted to see what all the uproar was about. I didn't care for the episode at all, so I didn't continue watching Buffy. That is, until my brother got into it and pretty much FORCED me to start watching it, but from the beginning. He owned the seasons on DVD, so lent them to me one at a time. Ever since then, my wife and I have been sold on Whedon. I know there will be exceptions - there always are - but I'm certain most of the people who don't like Whedon are like I was before my brother got me hooked. They may have seen an episode or two, but it/they was/were watched out of context, and they really didn't know the characters well enough to truly give it a fair chance. Now, having watched everything Whedon has done, I look back at the episode I originally scoffed at and realise what a pivitol episode it was. After watching that episode *in context*, it was REALLY powerful. Whedon is a true artist, and I totally understand why so many people are addicted to his work.

Man, that's all you people do. Why don't you have a talkback about the show I like, why not this, why not that... Do you pay anything for this site? Nope. You don't like it, go elsewhere. Or better yet, have the sack to put up your own site, then you can talk about your shows all you like. But while Herc runs this site, FOR FREE, he can damn well talk about whatever he likes. Damn, what a bunch of little bitches...

    The "BSG"/"Firefly" connection

    by Ribbons

I actually think that plastering a "Firefly" DVD link with some "Battlestar Galactica" news would make sense, considering "BSG" is probably the more popular TV show but is similar in certain ways so as to potentially make Whedon's space/horse opera attractive to its fans. Also, if you're operating under the logic that TalkBacks should be reserved for the people who care about them, then the people reading articles about "Battlestar Galactica" probably already know all about the show's status on DVD. Then again, that would only be the case if the "Firefly" link were only placed in the "BSG" article, which is not the case; it's in almost every Coaxial article.

amy acker is the hottest girl nerd ever. that is all. p.s. if someone didn't care much for buffy/angel references, etc, then one wonders why that person would bother visiting coax talkbacks in the first place. it's not like there aren't plenty of other sites dealing with tv shows that don't.

Willow meeting Cordelia in Veronica Mars was aces!

    by pokadoo

This should be cool. All these actors seem to enjoy working together again, but somehow, i doubt we'll be seeing SMG popping up in Bones. Tratchtenberg's character in Six Feet Under seemed like a spot-on dig at Gellar.

As Robin's co-anchor. He propositions her during a commercial break. Does Joss Whedon secretly cast this show or something. In any event, this show is one of the few truly funny shows on tv today. SCRUBS is losing it, HIMYM gaining momentum.

Herc runs this end of the AICN site. He can post info about any show, or not post info about any show, that he damn well pleases. If you don't like it, no one MAKES you come to AICN for your TV show news! Go somewhere if it bothers you because bitching about it isn't gonna do anything except make these talkbacks digress into stupid arguments about how the show you like is supposedly better than the show someone else likes. It's ridiculous and infantile. Just go somewhere else and shut up! Let Herc do what he wants cuz he is going to anyway... He owes you absolutely nothing, it's his frickin' site. Supermonkey out!

yawn. boring. without Herc and Moriarty, AICN would be circling the drain. Harry's bipolar approach to movie reviews is entertaining but he seems to spend most of his time now writing about the fact he has a girlfriend. If you don't like Whedon references, go elsewhere.

SpikeTBB, why'd you have to go and be all logical?

    by jim

I agree, but you see that sort of thinking a lot around here. People who, for example, hate any show that has aired on Fox since the cancellation of Firefly because they feel this new show (even 3 years later) has somehow replaced their beloved series. Check out any Star Wars or Lord of the Rings TB: apparently you can't like both, it's one or the other. **** I watched H I M Y M last night. That was Denisof?? I didn't recognize him. Maybe it was the fake tan that threw me off.

Now that you made me go look it up, I can tell you. It was Episode 14 in season 2 - Innocence. Angel just lost his soul and is beginning to torment Buffy. It didn't mean anything to me when I first saw it because I wasn't invested in the characters at all. Now that's totally different. That scene when Buffy breaks down after Angel leaves is heartbreaking.

Oh, and about How I Met Your Mother...

    by Acappellaman

It's one of the best sitcoms on TV right now. It took a few episodes to really get rolling, but it has some hilarious moments. It also has the running mystery of who the girl is that Ted eventually marries. Not many shows really do that any more - especially sitcoms. It's got style. Barney rules.

    HIMYM - Best new comedy

    by rockgolf

Sure, it's similar to Friends. But this show has really grown on me week after week, and is now my favorite new series of the year. Barney is the perfect combination of Chandler's ego and with mixed with Joey egomania.

    by DanielKurland

It's filling in the whole that AD's cancellation left, and Acappellaman, to say "Innocence" (which may be one of the best episodes) is terrible, is just a shame. Glad you watched the show through.

I wish she would take care of my pecker. She is the hottest chick on tv and even made me watch Alias, which I totally hate. Now, if she could have an appearance in The Shield that would be great. And then Dutch boy has to hit on her. Now, that would be cool.

    by The Funketeer

This site's been circling the drain for quite some time now and it's because of Herc and Mori, not despite them. If you think Harry's girlfriend obsession is bad, go back and read some of Mori's older posts before he got married. He found new ways to mention the fact that he had a girlfriend in almost every post. He's tamed a bit since he had a kid but his activity on the site has fallen to the wayside as well. Capone and Quint seem to be the only 2 contributors capable of writing a decent, focused article that doesn't try to let us know over and over again how much they really like brand X or star Y. As for the people that think we're under the impression that Herc's Buffy posts are keeping us from Shield talkbacks, nothing could be further from the truth. It's virtual dude. Herc could post 10 talkbacks a day if he wanted to. The frustration comes from the fact that people are begging for talkbacks for very popular genre shows and what we get instead are articles about washed up B and C actresses and writers from a 5th place network show that's been off the air for a couple of years now. It's got nothing to do with hating on Whedon and everything to do with hating on Herc turning what should be a very broad and general section of the site (TV) into a place for him to write about *HIS* interests only.

    by Acappellaman

I never said "Innocence" was terrible. In fact, NOW I think it's one of the best episodes in the entirety of Buffy. The first time I saw it, however, it didn't do much for me because I knew almost nothing about the characters. Heck, I didn't even know Angel was a vampire then! Once you're "in the know" about the universe and the characers, that episode freakin' rocks.
