SuperHeroHype Grabs Our First Look At Spidey's New Costume & The Teaser Poster to SPIDER-MAN 3!!!

Hey folks... Harry here... So - you still wondering whether or not Venom is going to be in the SPIDER-MAN 3 flickeroo? Still holding on to that rumor about Mr Lightning? Well... perish the thought and take a gander at the awesome poster for SPIDER-MAN 3. Now, I'm still a tad ticked off that we didn't get our Marvel SECRET WARS movie... sigh, but here he has his Black Costume! Are you ready? It's going to be the next holy shit, Sam Raimi's at it again Superhero flick... Meanwhile if you want an absolutely huge version of this image below... go check out SuperHeroHype.Com, they broke it and they've got the best version of the poster. Great scoop guys!

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a big piece of coolness for us SPIDER-MAN fans.

I love the image and they're saying over at Sony (SO IT'S OFFICIAL FROM SONY, NOT A FAN'S INTERPRETATION) that it's not a black and white image, but that Spidey is wearing a black and white costume. Hint-hint, nudge-nudge.

Well, it's certainly not a full color image. However, it is Spidey wearing a black suit. We've gotten tons and tons and tons of tiny bits that suggest Spider-Man does get the black suit in this movie, which seems to actually be happening. I'm gonna be a little pissed off if the black suit is just Spidey's regular suit, but in gray scale. No traditional black suit logo... I could even live with the raised webbing, etc, but I want that big, white spider emblem. It could be there, since we don't see his chest, but it certainly doesn't wrap around his ribcage like it does in the book.

So, Black Suit Spidey. Might as well be an official announcement that Topher Grace is Venom. I still almost don't believe it... I wonder what made Raimi change his mind about the character. I know the kids love The Ultimates line, but barring all else... I really want Venom to be an alien organism. That's what makes the character creepy and cool... that the suit, the costume was like a tapeworm, feeding off its host, a living breathing thinking organism. That's disturbing. At least to me.

Discuss. Let me know your thoughts. No matter what else, that's a fuckin' cool pic and will make a fantastic teaser poster!!!

PS... Take a look at his eye... there's reflection of what seems to be a building or his arm... I may be imagining things having spent too much time as a child figuring out animal shapes in the clouds, but if you tilt your head so the top of Spidey's head is pointing upright and look at the very bottom of this eye... there's kind of a grinning face there. Looks like the Goblin's mask. I don't think it's a reflection... and it could again be my imagination, but I think it might be a subtle hint. Maybe I'm crazy. Tell me below if you can see it. Try looking at the big image over at SHH here!

IT looks like the normal costume only black. It would have looked better had they gone with the one from the comics. Looks bad ass though.

    Spider Man 3

    by oducerproducer

As much as i dug Batman Begins more than the Spider Man films, i do got to say. This poster makes me geek out.

    by UncleEthan

I remember being 12 and picking up each addition at the comics shop. Spidey had the black suit and he was fighting in that war on some other world or deminsion...I think I'll miss the white emblem. My six year old says: "It's bogus. The cartoon Venom has a white spider." From the mouths of babes, brothers and sisters.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:37 p.m. CST

Even if it's the regular costume

    by chrth

The decision to display it in such a fashion is an obvious admission that Venom is coming.

Well, I guess the people at Sony pictures are the people with shit fer' brains since it's one the official Sony site that it isn't a b&w photo and that he's actually wearing the suit. Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to be an asshole ... maybe that way you'd look like less of a shit for brains yourself.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:39 p.m. CST

    black suit

    by tell-a-thon

didn't a previous post mention that they were playing with the blue/black colouring that's used on all black costumes in print? that might explain the bluish tone to the boot. personally i want to see the leonardi black and white design with the big white spider. i know spidey's duds are a classic design, but aesthetically the b&w design wins hands down. would look awesome in some low light shots. just that huge spider coming at the camera.

    Spidey eye reflection

    by imo_01

Does the eye give a reflection like the last poster for spidey 2? or is that MJ in peril again within his eye

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:40 p.m. CST

    Great image...

    by TELF

I like that he looks kind of knackered too. I didn't like the last one as much as everyone else seemed too. I thought it was good, and amazing visually, but I just couldn't get into their take on Doc Ock. And Maguire kind of gets on my nerves. I really wish they'd stop killing off the baddies too...

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:40 p.m. CST

Raimi gave in to peer pressure to include Venom.

    by Yoda's Ball Sack

They should have stuck to the old classic villians like The Lizard, Electro, or Mysterio. Then in Spidey 4 or 5 introduce Venom. Hell forget Venom and go with the Sinister Six.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:40 p.m. CST

Exactly what I said in an earlier post, fools

    by krims0nknite

I said that Rami had all you suckers wrapped so much around his little finger, that even if they released cgi/screenshot proof you still would not believe Venom is in the movie. Rami played you all like violins, he's had plans for years and years and years to have Venom in the third movie. Still absolutely positive that Venom isn't in the movie AICN? Still positive Superherohype is wrong? hah.

    by abysstare

Hey Teh Suk, if you're going to call everyohe dumbasses and stupid, and just be generally insulting, it might be a good idea for you to try to be RIGHT next time. The suit is BLACK, and if you have any doubt, go here: Nice try though.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:45 p.m. CST

So what IS reflected in the eye?

    by chrth

It looks like an apartment? And someone is standing in it? (you have to look at the full-size one at superherohype to see it)

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:47 p.m. CST

The Ultimate version of Venom is the best dramatically.

    by 3 Bag Enema

It will give Raimi an excuse to explore Pete being an orphan, and the whole "great power" thing can be echoed in how Topher acts once he's got "the suit" on. Please, shut up about alien organisms and the f'in' Secret Wars, already. The eighties were fun, but come on.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:48 p.m. CST

    by VenomFangX

That's not Spider-man. Black costume, silver (white) webbing, and he is obviously hiding his mouth.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:49 p.m. CST

    by TELF

I always liked the idea of the anti-spiderman thing. Someone who doesn't have Parker's upbringing getting similar powers and going apeshit. I just assumed if they did it they'd use Jameson's son from the last movie, the astronaut. He could be the anti-Parker (young, confident, successful - Shagging MJ) and the anti-spidey too. Although, IF Grace is Venom I guess he could play him that way too. I forget, was Eddie Brock venom in the comics? And wasn't he a big football player type? Or was that the cartoon?

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:49 p.m. CST

    Reflected in the eye.. Buildings?

    by krims0nknite

What's with all the angst in superhero movies now?

    by I Dunno

The X-Men posters have all the heroes frowning, looking down and just seemingly terribly troubled. Superman looks like someone just outed him and now Spider-Man looks like the Hulk just called him and told him that he has the hiv. Is it because of Batman Begins, is that why all the comic book heroes are so glum now? Well listen studio execs, I know you're not capable of original thought but the angst ridden loner thing works for Batman, not so much the others.

    Venom in eye??

    by Gorrister

Might be my mind playing tricks, but I could kinda-sorta make out Venoms face in the reflection. The face seems to be looking to the right with two spidey-like eyes and a massive under-bite with sharp teeth. Just a guess. Need a better image to know for sure.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:54 p.m. CST

    Spider-Man 3,4,5 --- Sinister 6

    by Kraken

Honestly, I think Sandman will be the villian in this one, with a hint of Venom at the end. Venom will be the villian and maybe the Lizard in part 4 ... Electro and new Goblin in 5... then maybe onto Spider-Man Sinister 6. That'd be cool.

    Telf, yes Brock was Venom

    by Gorrister

But I don't think he played football. Eddie Brock was a reporter (not for the Bugle) who was shamed by Spiderman. Eddie thought he had a 'scoop' on the idenity of a villian named the Sin-Eater. Eddie ran with the story and it was printed ala "Dewey Defeats Truman" only to have Spidey and Daredevil unmask the true Sin-Eater and humiliate Brock. Brock hated Spiderman and was praying in a church (for forgiveness of wanting to commit suicide) when the alien costume found him...sensed their shared hatred of Spidey...and joined with Brock.

    People should also stop *****ing...

    by krims0nknite

Why bitch? Just because you can? We don't really know anything about this shot, or how it'll look on screen, or anything, and people are already bitching that the suit looks crappy. This is a teaser shot, it doesn't mean that SM will look like this. And the people that bitch about having Venom instead of the other super villians? Suck it up, they'll all get their turn. Venom is by far the fan favorite with over 40% of every poll I've ever seen on the subject. And if you don't think Venom will make a better story or movie than Electro then there is something wrong with you.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 8:59 p.m. CST

Thanks Gorrister. The eye reflection is... THE CHURCH

    by krims0nknite

I was trying to figure out why it looked like a castle.. But it's just the massive front doors of a church I was looking at. There is a building to the left of the church, and then to the right is the actual church. Just think big wooden door and you'll probably see it.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 9 p.m. CST

    Very cool

    by AnAgentOfEvil

Still not a fan of the Spidey movies. 1 and 2 were both good when I saw them in theaters. As I view them time and time again, they get progressively worse. I'm guessing 3 will continue the routine for me. But I'll be damned if that ain't the coolest fucking poster in the series. Raimi's still got my interest somehow.

    by Gorrister

Thomas Haden Church maybe? lol. I still see the face of Venom...but I'm trying really hard to see other shapes in that reflection. I'm dying to find a better resolution of this poster now. lol. I just still see the face. Two spidey-eyes, looking to the right and a huge under-bite of a jaw with a row of sharp teeth.

by hargon27 says that it is NOT a teaser poster, just a photo. It is a little earlier than usual for a teaser poster. I wouldnt have expected one till at least August. Anyone know for sure? Would make a damn fine addition to my wall if it is the teaser poster.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 9:15 p.m. CST

    Could be nothing.

    by dimnix

It's not clear, thats for sure... and I guess the black costume basically does what past eye reflections have done (confirming a villian, in this case venom, or at the very least a setup for venom). And yeah, it could be a building, and it could be a church, but the more I look at the image I posted just before: , I reckon that if there IS something there, and if that is it, its looking more and more like a grinning goblin face.

I would pay more money to see the rest of the people from that awful show get some too. I wonder if they can write in Kitty as well. She needs some serious attention too.

    by CatVutt

Any of you comic geeks remember seeing the 'Marvel Age' that came out around the same time as the Secret Wars? It had the original costume designs for the symbiote costume, and the chest spider and the hand plates were in a blood red color. Personally, I thought it was better than the white they ultimately went with. Probably deemed too creepy for Spidey, though.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 9:27 p.m. CST

Just doesn't fit the trend of villians being reflected. Its either Sandman, Venom, Goblin or nothing.

My take on is that this is legit teaser poster..

    by torpor_haze

but will not necessarilyend up in the movie. I think this poster is on the same level and Episode 1 shadow effect, a foreshadowing of sorts.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 9:28 p.m. CST

    by masheen81

Do keep in mind that Thomas Hayden Church, in an interview with Starbust magazine (3/06) said that Sandman is the main arch-villian of Spider-Man 3 and that Topher doesn't become the second villian until the very end. Most likely it'll be a Goblin-like set up. I suppose if Raimi played us like a violin, Arad has to be as well (he squashed rumors a year ago that Spider-Man 3&4 were being shot back to back). If we see a glimpse of Venom at the end, fans will go nuts, much like when the playing card for the JOKER came up @ the end of Batman Begins. And they'll want to see "4" ASAP (well, that's if 3 isn't a disaster.

Almost full-figured, in the center of the eye, its left arm extended forward and to the right of the poster (figures left), right arm extending to the left side (figures right) of the poster.

    by Darth Hater

Not first... which gives me the opportunity to calmly look at the promo shot AND NOT PREMATURELY SHOOT MY LOAD (I mean mouth off) in talk back. Me thinks It's just Sony saying "venoms coming" If you look at the eye it looks more pointy sinister. His mouth is hiden by the arm couldn't you imagine that Venom shit eating grin snaping his head up to startle the viewer? He's just mimicking Spidey to lure the viewer in. Interesting Timing

    by jollydwarf

I was just rereading the symbiote "Secret Wars" comic the other day, as well as "The Day Gwen Stacy Died". (Not that I randomly picked up those two issues, mind you) After seeing this most somber poster, the question is pose to all of you (poll style) is: WHO DIES? Gwen? Or is there the oft-suggested role-reversal with her and M.J.? Does Harry (not Knowles, although...) kill whoever bites it? Is the Brooklyn Bridge involved again? Or is it Aunt May, the 'dark horse' in this 'death pool'? Or is Spider-Man pissed that he doesn't get a launch PS3 even though Sony ripped his font?

    A darker spiderman movie

    by zooch

whether or not this means Venom will be in this film or not, this definently symbolizes this is going to be a much darker Spiderman movie which is much different from the first two. I like it.

"Normal House" reflected from the top of a building?

    by Gorrister

Doesn't seem too likely. I see what you are talking about in the image, but it doesn't seem to match Spidey location in the poster.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 9:46 p.m. CST

    Not the Brooklyn Bridge

    by Gorrister

It's a common misconception, but Gwen didn't die at the Brooklyn Bridge. She died at the George Washington Bridge.

It would be a nice twist if Mary Jane dies. But I seriously doubt this will happen. Gwen is cannon fodder in the Marvel Universe. I was impressed that she was in Ultimate Spiderman, but they sure enough killed her off. I hope Sam is more original that this. Everyone is going to expect Gwen to die. So why not surprise us be having her survive?

Spiderman is... asleep. Remember why he got rid of the suit in the first place. Remember that comic with him webslinging thru the night and then finding out the suit was taking Peter's body out for a spin in the middle of the night while he was asleep. Damn! Rami is a smooth fucker, he is! The picture looked like Spidey was a depressed like Batman or some vampire on a roof... but then I looked in the eyes for the GG and realised that Spidey wasn't looking at anything... that he was asleep. Fuck Me!! That's some cool shit!!

So I don't know much about Venom, or the Spidey universe for that matter, so bear with me... BUT, I can really see this being Venom and NOT Spidey in the picture. Why else would the mouth be covered?? It is not a coincidence, this is Sam Raimi we're talking about. He's a pretty intelligent guy, I think he put that arm there for a reason. And I don't think that we are supposed to tilt our heads to see what's reflected in the eye, it's never been like that before. I'm definitely seeing the house with the porch and the figure on the left. And if this really is Venom, or Spidey, it's still early! I keep thinking "well, we'll find out soon enough, it's coming out in May... oh wait, of 2007!!!!" So there's still plenty of time for them to change the outfit and put the white spider on the front and make the costume not so grey. This is to tease us (not a teaser though), to get us excited for the movie, and it's a great way to do it. Like someone mentioned before, I'm way more excited for Spidey 3 and its coming out in a year and a half than I am for X3 (Superman Returns looks pretty decent), and I'm a much bigger X-Men fan. Sony and Raimi know how to advertise (and how to make good movies cough*Ratner*cough), so pretty much whatever comes out of Spidey 3 will be good in my opinion. Just chill out a bit guys, we still have a year ahead of us of more info coming in (and a year to forget X3 was made... sorry it's just these set visits aren't giving me any comfort).

this "black" costume may not even be in the movie. it may be more along the lines of throwing a bone to the hardcore fans that "hey, youve known that venom is in the movie, heres finally the proof" the actual "venom" costume may look nothing like this. i mean, why would they want to throw that huge secret out over a year before the movie comes out. the venom costume is definitely going to have the huge white spider, they just couldnt show us that at this point.

    Venom instead of Spidey?

    by hargon27

Im not saying it is or isnt Venom, but just because the official Sony website says that its Spider-Man doesnt make it so. Keep in mind they have the entire "Daily Bugle" motif going on, as if the picture was taken by someone in the spider-man universe. Now, if you were a reporter where Spider-man was a real character and you saw that your first impression would be: "oh, hes wearing black now." and you would report it as such, when in fact it could be Venom.

Also in that blurb is advertisement for Spider Man 3 coming to theaters blah blah blah. In the Spider Man world, the Daily Bugle wouldn't say that. Hear what I'm saying. I think although that message is attached to the image, I think it is separate from the actually Daily Bugle headline.

If it is Venom, I have to vote against the alien idea. Spider-Man works because he connects with our insecurities and loneliness. An alien would... well, alienate the mainstream non-geek audience. And we need big box office to keep this kind of coolness. Christ, I'm so high on this I can't wait to see the Spider-Man 4 poster! by Dragulf

in the eye is the first thing I thought. As for Venom, it won't be Topher Grace. Eddie brock is Huge. I mean HUGE. Think Arnold or Ferrigno size muscled. Eddie Brock is blonde haired and blue eyed also. Topher I can see playing Hydroman, (Sandman and Hydroman cancell each other out in the comics as Spidey tricks them.) Jackal or Vulture. I am hoping for a Venom but I don't think Topher is him.

In the Ultimate spidey comics, Eddie brock is not large and muscle bound, but average, even a bit on the skinny side, like topher grace.

    by SifoDyasJr.

This in no way confirms a Vemon appearane, It's just a way cool pic of spidey in a black version of his costume. I hope Raimi decides to not have Venom--the character was only good for the first two appearances and then turned very lame. Spidey vs. a version of the Sinister Six is still what I'm hoping for (but with no villian origins--they just show up and kick his butt). Whatever Sam decides, I'll go with it--he's earned my trust in how he handles Spider-man.

Good observation concerning the mouth. However, I persoanlly think that is a long shot from being Venom. And like most people have said since this has been released, I doubt it's the symboite since it has all the ridges and design as his original suit, but in black (but then again, it is an alien life form so maybe it can conform to it's master first outfit). I don't think any picture has ever gotten this much discussion, and this is exactly what Sony hoped for...and got. All I know is that I want this as a wallpaper...pronto!

Part of me believes that Venom want come around till like pt 4. Why? Because we have Sandman and Propably Green Goblin Pt2 to totally fuck Spiderman's ass up. Spiderman is going to need a fucking edge to kill them. I mean he couldn't beat the first Green Goblin on his own (Goby basically killed himself) and he sure didn't take down Doc Ock physically. I thank he will dawn the suit become an evil badass whip both of them, but then lose MJ in the process, then use Doc Conners to help him get rid of the suit and bingo it finds a new host. Althought the other part of me says that would be the most kisckass believable Venom suit. I get goosebumps just thinking about his evil grin on that suit.

To those of you who say this doesn't prove Venom. What the hell do you think it means? At the very least it proves a Venom set up for 4. I really doubt Raimi is just going to have Spidey just randomly say, "I'm tired of the red and blue, I'm going to make black suit." Obviously this is the symbiote suit with Spidey wearing it before he rejects it and it goes to Brock (Grace). And my guess is it will look like the picture when Peter is wearing it, but a lot more like the Venom we know when Brock gets it.

My New Thoughts....Not Venom, not Goblin, not Porch

    by Gorrister

C'mon, guys...a PORCH??? How lame. LOL. After studying this pic and using photo enhancements, I'm resubmitting my opinion: It is NOT Venon in the reflection. It is SANDMAN! The reflection is a dark figure surrounded by a 'mist' that I assume is sand. There is also a large fist extending from the figure towards Spiderman. You can clearly see four fingers and a thumb curled into a large fist. I'm willing to place solid money on this verdict. It's SANDMAN.

  • Feb. 23, 2006, 11:50 p.m. CST

Don't think Venom is in this movie at all

    by Gorrister

I've been thinking about how the new costume will work into this film. My guess is that Parker has to use a new material (that happens to be black) to make a costume that keeps sand from getting through. Yes, I know it's lame, but it would explain why the Black Costume is the same pattern as the original Blue/Red Costume. This costume is designed to fight Sandman and that is the only reason it exists.

You seem to know your stuf... How was Venom portrayed in the more recent Ultimate Spidey. Was it still an alien sybiote? Just wondering if the astronaut/MJ boyf from S2 could somehow be involved. When I watched S2 I was sure Jameson Jr's storyline was going to lead nicely into a Venom set up. Guess not. Just seems a bit wierd to have him being an astronaut, stealing MJ, and then doing nothing with him.

    Wishful Thinking Gordon :)

    by Gorrister

I have a hard time with it because Sam Rami has repeatedly gone on the record as NOT being a Venom fan. He does not think Venom is such a great character, so why would he put a character he hates into his movie? This whole Venom rumor started because of all the talk of a Black Costume in Spiderman 3. Everyone just ASSUMES it's Venom. No other evidence has surfaced to support this. Also, the rumor that Topher Grace is Venom does not support the character. Topher is about as anti-Venom as you can get. So I suggest you remember what I've said. LOL. If Venom does indeed appear in this film, I'll by more suprised than anyone.

Don't mean this to be a flame or anything. Just asking you to ask yourselves this question and answer it honestly: "Since the studio has already confirmed on its website that Sandman is THE villian of Spiderman 3, why would Venom be the villian portrayed in the Spiderman 3 teaser poster?"

Reminds me of the black & chrome Bat-suit. I hate it.

    by JDanielP

Nice picture, I'll admit. But judging from what I see here, I don't like this "black" costume design. If you're going to go with the black costume, then why base it so much on the color version??? The comic book version (of the black costume) was cool, ...a great design and as good as (if not better than) the original. I really don't "get" ...or understand ...the thinking behind this particular design. Remember the black and chrome "team" costumes of Batman, Robin, and Batgirl in "BATMAN AND ROBIN"??? Remember how and where the chrome was placed within the costumes? The freakin' BAT was chrome, for cryin' out loud. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. But who knows what this particular Spider-man suit really looks like in bright, natural light? And maybe this costume web will have some kind of effect in the dark, cool or not. I'm just very surprised that I'm not seeing a costume that is more faithful to the material that inspired it in the first place. Having seen pictures of our movie Sandman (and nearly getting goosebumps because of how faithful and cool the interpretation is), this is so very disappointing. I'm really sad about this. And I'm already losing hope for a cool interpretation of the story, ...the story of the "Alien" black costume. I'm just so very disappointed that Hollywood has little common sense when it comes to costume design for major comic book characters. Really, they should consult me, first.

I remember some people calling me an idiot because I questioned the "fact" that Green Goblin 2 was going to be the major villian....or that Black Cat had been cast and was definately appearing....even had debates with people about Kingpin, Ned Leeds, Hobgoblin and even Kraven the Hunter. by Nairb The Movie

I have a huge hate for these so called "Spiderman" movies. Sure they star a character who is calling himself "Peter Parker". Sure he runs around in blue and red "Spidey Costume". Sure his archenemy is the "Green Goblin". But it's not Spiderman. Its not Brian Michael Bendis' writing Spiderman or Peter David writing Spiderman or Paul Jenkins, Mark Millar, J. Michael Stracynski, Stan "the man" Lee, Todd Macfarlene, or even Chuck "I fucking suck" Austen. Its not Saturday morning cartoon show Spiderman. Its not Sega's Maximum Carnage Spiderman. Its not the Indian version of Spiderman. Its not Spiderman. Its some bitchy, whiny, moron running around in tights fighting Schitzophrinics... Because, apparently, they had to kill the part of Spiderman that makes Spiderman the character who he is. Spiderman is the Groucho Marx of all super heroes. When he calls the Vulture "Mr. Clean, or makes fun of Doc Ock's weight, or Green Goblin being nuttier than a Mr.Peanut Family Reunion. That's what makes Spiderman the great character he is. Sure there is the horribly mis-cast Mary Jane or the awful in everything James Franco or the abysmal directing of every scene. This is not Spiderman. I couldn't do better, but someone could.

    The Reflection!?

    by LucienPierce

Maybe it's one of those early 90's pixel images that you had to squint to see because I don't see jack in the reflection. Maybe when it's a fullsize poster I'll see it... And can we all hope that Spiderman 3 has a little bit more SUPERHERO-ING than the previous one. I thought Batman Begins balanced the human/superhero bits superbly while Spider-Man 2 could've simply been titled "PETER PARKER (with a few glimpses of Spider-Man)". I loved it at the cinema, but it's rewatchability isn't that great. But of course this comes from someone who rewatches HULK dozens of times and thinks that HULK was pretty damn close to being the best superhero/comic book film ever made. I can't wait to see Sandman in action, visually he can be stunning and so can Venom...Vulture is too boring. And when are we going to see The Lizard!

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 12:38 a.m. CST

    by Gordon Bombay

I just don't buy that Raimi would have a black suit in this unless it was significant in some way. Do you? I can't see them changing the suit because one day Peter decides he looks better in black. And I can't buy that its a special sand resistant suit, that would just be cheesy. Spidey in black = symbiote suit = Venom. Though I did say it could just be Peter wearing it in this and no real Venom until 4, though something tells me he's in this one. I do agree that Topher is totally wrong for the role of Brock.

What you see are the legs. The feet are pressed together, the nkees apart, forming and open area, and the arms are crossed in front of the body close to the groin as if holding on to something-the character is supsended upside down, flexed and holding on to what has to be a strand of webbing, so I believe the figure in the eye is Spider-Man himself or Venom, but most likely its Spider-Man and the main figure who everyone thinks is SpiderMan is the villian himself.

    All the Bitching About Angst....

by Playhouse fucking hilarious. That was the point of Marvel Comics, to bring out the very human qualities of the superheroes. Spider-Man was always about angst in the comics. I don't know why you think this is a new thing. The adventures of Spider-Man were as much about the trials, travails and troubles of Peter Parker as they ever were about being a hero. It should not be a surprise that Raimi would take that route in the movies. I think it has just become so commonplace in comics nowadays that people forget where it originated. Now, granted, I think they should inject a lot more human in Parker when he's Spider-Man in the films - that was always his release when he put on the mask - but feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders from the villains to worry about making rent is the very definition of Spider-Man. So stop bitching about it.

When I posted (above) earlier, I was speaking (or rather, typing) from an artistic point-of-view. My apologies for rushing to judgment. The story does come first and this "design" could very well be evidence of that story focus. Maybe I didn't give these guys enough credit. Seriously, I apologize. -- Holy cow! well, what you gotta do is flip it so spidey's body is facing downward. zoomy zoomy a little bit and youll see a big ol' goblin esq. mask/face/thing, with a crooked, pointy nose and everything on the left side. much smaller in the middle is someone tied up, (maybe mj, gwen, or spidey himself) above a slanted misty floor type area (against what would otherwise be the top surface of spidey's eyehole) - sand perhaps. if i'm right its like a whole really cool other poster unto itself. maybe we'll get a poster of this in a few months and THIS poster will be reflected in the big goblin mask's eye(s). that'd be kinda sweet.

    by Hung-Wei Lo

One talkbacker mentioned that it may possibly be Gwen falling in the reflection. I disagree somewhat, but that sounded like the best answer so far. I'm guessing it's a reflection of the aftermath off the bridge. She's already a goner, which in the reflection in his eyes appears to be a tugboat surrounded by water, hence the distraught "why couldn't I save her?" look to Spidey's body language.

    The reflection in the eye....

    by MaulRat

I don't really think it's anything, although my mind immediately sprang to Aunt May's house.. but then again didn't she sell up in the last one?. It would have been cool to have Venoms gaze looking upwards at Spidey, his big tounge hanging out, the reflection in Spideys eye, dpidey's body language saying "Well I'm fucked"..... that would have had the fanboys creaming.. So anyway, considering the look of the poster we're looking at a "the brighter the picture the darker the negative" type of film this time around, a genuine love interest for Peter with the intro of Gwen Stacey (who looks hella hot by the way)/Death of MJ, Aunt May and pretty much anything Spidey had to live for.. I love the idea of the sandman, and I love the fact that Raimi chooses to lace his films with characters that become villians later on. So that one day we may see Lizard, Electro, Kraven (yeah baby), Goblin, Hobgoblin etc... the possibilites are there because the characters will already be introduced in one form or another. Again, I can't wait...

Has to be Spidey, not Venom

    by DannyOcean01

Spidey wore the symbiote and it pretty much still looked like a Spidey costume. If they were going to do Venom surely they'd go the whole hog and make him look demonic. This must be, as many have said, Spidey in symbiote distraught over the death of Gwen Stacy. He uses the symbiote to combat the big bads and then eventually gets rid of it after it almost consumes him. Maybe Doc Conners will help him.

    by drew mcweeny

I think the image reflected in Spider-Man's eye is Your Heart's One True Desire, because reading this talkback is like reading a laundry list of every Spider-Man fan's hopes and fears, laid bare. Sam Raimi, if you're still reading this far down, I wouldn't trade places for you for a kajillion dollars for two reasons. One, this fanbase is really wild, but I think also very supportive of you and your first two films. And two, I'm much happier watching his films than I could ever hope to be making them. Great teaser image. Great way to wake fandom up with a single shot... of whatever it is.

What's going to happen when Venom doesn't appear?

    by Gorrister

I would love for someone (seriously) to point me to any solid source that says Venom is in this movie. The only sources I've ever seen over the past several months have said two things: 1) Sam Rami doesn't like Venom and 2) there is a "black costume" in Spiderman 3. Also, NOBODY (and i do mean NOBODY) has answered the question I posted last night to all of the Venom true-believers: Since the studio has already verified that SANDMAN is the villian in Spiderman 3, then why in the world wouth Venom be featured in the teaser poster????

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 6:22 a.m. CST

Sure, some people attempted to answer. LOL

    by Gorrister

But, c'mon, lets have an answer that isn't "black costume=Venom". A "black costume" does NOT equal "Venom". Spiderman had a 'normal' cloth black costume for a VERY long time after the symbiote was first disposed of by the Fantastic Four. And for the people insisting Venom isn't the "main" villian in Spiderman 3 (yet insist that he's in the movie anyways) why, or why, would a "minor" villian be featured over the major villian in this movie then? IT MAKES NO SENSE!! LOL

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 6:27 a.m. CST

    by Gorrister

Wasn't trying to flame ya in the above posts. LOL. But I did forget to mention something. Yes, I agree the costume is "significant" to the story. It goes back to my guess that he needed a new material to fight off Sandman. Something with smaller pores or something so he doesn't get choked on sand. Silly, I know, but so was the Green Goblins helmet. lol (or maybe he just wants something more stealthy). I would be a bigger supporter of the Venom theories if it wasn't already established that this is Sandmans movie.

    Just a thought

    by stept

Maybe the few who have speculated it are right and it is Venom. Remember in the comics the symbiote can turn into any kind of material or cloth etc, etc, etc. And I wouldn't put it past Rami to piss us all of by thinking 'oh this is a crap costume design for Venom blah blah'. So maybe what we are seeing is Venom changing the symbiote into the Spider-Costume, just black to fudge with Spider-Man. I can totally see Venom appearing like this at first and then the tendrils spreading all over his body and turning into the big black and white costume we all know and love.

As a previous talkbacker said "well there is definitely red and blue in the picture in the maybe the bugle saying "spiderman wearing black suit" is referring to sightings of venom being mistaken for spiderman and this poster is just a night shot?" It really just looks like a gray-scale black and white image. The structure of the suit is identical to the normal one. And I think what we're seeing in his eye is just a reflection of his arm. Nice pic, though.

    by TheAllSeeingEye

Just take a look at the picture's so blatantly obvious. Like someone else pointed out, Raimi has nothing but utter contempt for the Venom character; why on earth would he make a movie with him in it. Avi Arad could demand all he wanted, there'd be no way Raimi would still be attached to this movie if Venom were the villain. I think most of the comments above are wishful thinking from Venom fans. Anyway, that is definately a goblin face -

    just a guess

    by stvnhthr

Okay, I knew about the black suit months ago when I mentioned the news here. My connections at Sony have moved on, so I'm now just going to throw out some wild speculation and say the suit is some sort of nanotech "thinking suit" It will be made of millins of mini-micro thread robotic nano bots. It starts out emulating Spidey's real suit, but eventually it grows a mind of its own and goes all Venom crazy. Just a guess.

You know I think it looks like a rooftop in his eye, but it's looking very promising. Let's hope it doesn't get too crowded. The symbiote excuse would certainly excuse why a guy who been going on and on about MJ would think about Stacey. Spider-man in space would be desperately lame so either the ultimate storyline or something new would be ideal. Though another scientist who takes his work to seriously having a nasty accident is becoming overused. That's probably why no Lizard so far. Still so long as they avoid either Hydroman or Kraven as they are god awful. Oh and the general movie audience have blanked out Daredevil so bring in the guy from the Shield for the Kingpin.

    by smackfu

That's an interesting bit of trivia, and slightly ironic in that I despise Larson because of his take on Venom. I'm a tad disapointed in spiderman's costume simply being painted black. The symbiote costume is probably the one and only time in the realm of comics to film that you can just put a guy in a simple, black spandex suit with white eyes and a white spider, and have it look kickass.

    by jim

We may think Topher will be Eddie Brock and the Symbiote costume will make an appearance because it looks like Spidey is wearing a black costume. But really it is a shot of Spidey after he was fried by Electro, played by Eric Forman. And Red Forman will appear as The Vulture (either him or Clint Howard). And the image in the eye is obviously a shot of Norman Osborne (who is not dead but has been living in a coma in Harry's bathtub) as he is being revived by the cleaning lady. Why the rest you don't see that is beyond me.

I have a bad feeling about this movie

    by Math1303

First, if your going with the black suite, you gotta have something that looks different then his original suite... it's gotta look like in the comic with the big white spider... and Topher being Venom just sounds wrong... who knows maybe they'll suprise me but I'm really worried here... it's everything I ear... they seam to be taking all the bad decisions. I hope I'm wrong but all the bad that was in the first 2 movies looks like they'll be amplified 10 times in this one. Of course, we can't really juge 'till we see the movie but I'm one worried fan. Raimi seams to be over confident and instead of doing the spider-man we grew up with, he seam's to be doing his spider-man, changing things here and there because you know, his vision of spider-man is so much better then the spider-man who existed all those years in comic book form. I really hope I'm wrong and that we'll be getting the best spidey yet but like X3, I'm just not liking what I see and what I read.

    by TheAllSeeingEye

In an interview with Empire Magazine quite some time ago. Seriously, deluding yourself if you think that Topher Grace will be Venom...have you even seen the guy? He's 100lbs wet through. If, and this is a very big IF, Raimi were to do a Venom character the actor he'd be using would be somewhat 'beefier' than Topher 'noodleboy' Gracer. If no one had officially announce Thomas Hayden Church as playing Sandman i might have been convinced that Raimi had lost the fucking plot and included the most one dimensional Spidey villain ever created. Thank god we know he's playing Sandman. None of it fits, get a grip oh and the reflection in the eye mask is definately some kind of goblin face.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:07 a.m. CST

    by Hellhouse

I realize that most of the recent fanboys think Venom was invented back in 1963 and he was Spidey's greatest enemy ever, along with Carnage and whatever other symbiote spin-off might have happened, but he's really just a lame-ass invention of Todd McFarlane created during his Spidey mega popularity run in the early 90's. For me, I've always thought McF was an overrated hack who got extremely lucky on the level of Rob Liefeld(who has messed up more comics than any one individual)and there are just scores of Spidey villians who should get a shot instead of him. I'm very happy that the Sandman is getting his due, buty having three villians in the same film is just stupid. It speaks of the fact that Raimi is probably making his last Spidey film and wants to get as much as he can in there. The beautiful pacing of the first two is going to get slaughtered in favor of MORE MORE MORE! So sad.

No John, it doesn't look like Sin City's posters

    by Silver_Joo

It has exactly the same mood of the teaser posters for Spider-Man 2, it's just that the final sequence may well take place in the rain for added atmosphere and to make Venom look as cool and violent as they can without us pointing and whinging about the CGI. If they follow the teaser sequence for the second movie, we should get the villains soon. Yip!

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:20 a.m. CST

    No. Are you guys dumb?

    by Silver_Joo

It's been on the internet for ages that Harry will become GG2 to save his best friend as he comes up against Sandman and Venom. It also makes story sense and ANY director that gets guys like Alvin Sargent to write his screenplays and Michael Chabon (!) to make sure the story beats click is not sacrificing the series at all. C'mon man, Raimi's giving us Gwen Stacy even though the studio forced MJ on him in the first film - he's giving us Gwen and he'll probably kill off MJ to do it. This film will finally be the film fans of the Spiderman comics have always wanted. I can't wait.

    Teaser poster explained

    by emeraldboy

I have looked at the poster using photobase and Photostudio after rotating the poster at certain angles. It is no face or anything of the kind. It is a window and below the window is the creeping black goop that turns john Jameson into Venom and the window could be a metaphor for the darmkness about to parkers soul. I think the window is Parkers apartment. The rest of the poster is meant to represent a coming storm or something.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:44 a.m. CST

    I meant to say

    by emeraldboy

It is a metaphor for the darkness about to enter parkers soul.

    The image as a whole...

by DT pretty interesting - it *almost* looks as if he's perched on part of a gravestone/mausoleum. His body language seems to match that tone as well - maybe a moment of introspection about the Green Goblin? Maybe the "reflection" is just a phantom - something he sees sort of echoed from a grave (in some of the posted image enhancements there is a goblin-like face, which would jive with the GG II theories).

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:50 a.m. CST

    It IS a color photo.

    by the Grobe

Look closer, you will see many shades of blue and green in that picture. It's what you would see if you took a picture in the rain on an overcast day. And if that costume was red and blue, you would be able to tell- since there is enough light to create highlights on his webbing in that photo, there would be enough light to reflect red (which would appear more purple in this light). So this costume is clearly black. And no, it's not grey, it's black! Nothing is ever going to look truly black once light reflects off of it- it will reflect the ambient colors, like the bluish tint you see on the suit. Which is precisely why comics combine blue with pure black colors like Supe's hairdo or Spidey's black costume.

i'll trust my own eyes before i trust a sony press release. that's the red and blue costume...the lighting makes it look black. maybe they manipulated the image further to make it look black but it's not a different costume. the marketing department is doing just what they get paid to do. they're creating buzz about spiderman 3. suckers!

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:53 a.m. CST

    by the Grobe

Red and blue have different tonal frequencies, so even if this was a black and white photo, there would be a noticeable difference in value between the red and blue portions. You would be able to tell that the two parts were of a different color, or at least one would look brighter than the other. A little art and color theory goes a long way.

    Batwing and The Goat

    by Foilfresh

I think the person who made the point earlier of Spider-man having had a tough time dispatching Green Goblin and Doc Octopus may have a point. It would have to be a major bait-and-switch for Sam Raimi, et al to announce so pointedly that Spider-man is wearing a black suit, and then have it come to nothing. If they really wanted to mess with the public, they could have just said nothing, and have people jumping through hoops arguing about the different tints of blue that proved he was wearing all black, etc etc. We know Sandman is the main villain, and they already setup Hobgoblin in Episode 2. I've no idea whether Venom will be the villain also, but all the secrecy regarding Topher Grace would suggest they have something in store. They didn't exactly go with the comicbook interpretation costumes of Green Goblin and Doc Octopus in the films. If the costume was a symbiote/alien/whatever, perhaps it allows Spidey the ability to hold his own against two major villains this time around (Sandman and Hobgoblin) and allowing for the suit to be cast off and taken up by Topher Grace for the 4th movie. I do like the idea of the teaser poster we saw actually being Venom (with the mouth being hidden and all), but it could also just be a transitional look for Venom. Spidey started off with a transitional suit, before he settled on his present costume. I'm sure many other heroes and villains did the same. So even if it is Venom we are seeing, perhaps his suit will change its look, whether its just a plain old suit, or a symbiote. I didn't read the Ultimates storylines, but its perhaps more likely that Raimi wouldn't go down the alien suit route. Yes Spider-man deals with the fantastic (and in the case of the Green Goblin suit, total crap) but I don't think opening the series up for alien terror will be the way they go. And as for the image in the eye? Looks like buildings to me. Or maybe Juggernaut's missing helmet...

Sorry, I get that wisecracks are basically writer's shorthand to tell me how hip and cool Spidey is in the situation, but they're rarely every actually funny, and at this point, wisecracking action stars are a tired cliche, don't need em, don't want em.

If he wears this costume throughout the movie, I WILL BE PISSED!!! If he gets it later on, okay. But there better be a good reason. Spidey is red-and-blue for a reason. Not red-and-gold, and not fucking black.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 12:35 p.m. CST

    by Cerebud

Ok, the villain in this one doesn't NEED to be reflected in Spidey's eye - because he's wearing the villain!! I think you guys are straining too hard to see something that's not there. It is a kick ass image though. And that's the LAST WORD.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 12:35 p.m. CST

I actually do think this is kind of interesting

    by Ribbons

The poster is interesting not only for the fact that it's, what? About 20 hours since it made its debut and people are already developing all these insane conspiracy theories based on what's reflected (if anything) in his eye. But yeah, because it seems tonally different. I know a lot of people like to complain about how "emo" Spidey is in the movies (even though there's plenty of humor in them, IMO, if not always from Peter -- which I get is your point. Anyway, digression...), but despite all that, the marketing campaigns for both Spider-Man movies always had that golden light thing going on. The fact that they plunged right into the macabre for the marketing on this one seems kind of interesting.

Because they are filming 3 & 4 together. But they won't tell anyone that. They will only advertise #3. Spidey will rid himself of the symbiote at the end of 3 (after using the new costume to defeat Sandman). Credits will roll, 95% of the audience will leave before the end of the credits. At the end of the credits there will be a 10 second bit of the symbiote attaching itself to Brock and him morphing into Venom, spouting a line about revenge or the like. Then "to be concluded, December 2006". At least that's my wild, unsubstantiated guess.

Also on the webbing, which I hope you're not saying is red too. I also noticed blues and greens in the image, which is obviously not grayscale.

when the saturation is at 100% on the master all the red parts of the costume start turning red. the blue parts don't...even when they're being hit by the same light source. the only blue part of the costume that goes red is the hot spot on his right thigh, which is no surprise since it's being lit by a tungsten light source (unless you really think he's outside in the rain) and any color from the costume is completely washed out by the light anyway. as for the tonal diffences you say don't exsist, take another look. this time try using a good monitor, because if you can't see a tonal difference in the "blacks" on his boots/legs and shoulders/torso then you are high.

"It's not black enough!", "it's just the regular costume!", "where's the white spider?". Waaaaaahhhh!!!! What do you want- a slick MATRIX outfit with a bright white spider stretching out from the chest like the t-shirt you can buy at the comic shop? This isn't a fan film. Thank God Raimi and his people don't feel obligated to duplicate the comic. Perhaps they put a little thought into what it SHOULD look like. If a symbiote wanted it's host to trust it, and to seem as friendly as possible, don't you think it would make every attempt to retain as comfortable and familiar design as possible? So if it can't change color, it can at least mimick the details of Parker's own design. Let's remember this stuff is being translated from funny-books to feature film. Is it really going to crush you if, for lighting and design purposes, they make the suit charcoal instead of the black we know from the printed page?

Mcfarlane's Venom was too stocky. More like a wrestler than a body builder. Larson's too freaky looking. Bagley's Venom looked like a body builder, and was not so muscled that he would barely move. LAter artists on Venom made him over-the-top with muscles, and teeth. Writers were almost as bad, with the need to really eat brains or chocolate for endorphins... Now the symbiote can bond at will, and talks by itsself. Totally ruined the character. Marvel is no longer looking at making stories that will appeal to people 20 years later (ala secret wars or Phoenix saga) they are only concerned now with getting something on the shelf so they can take kids' money.

    Spidey 3

    by emeraldboy

its the cloak of the hobgoblin! Hobgoblin flying through the air and they the smoke has been manipulated, does look very like venom. but me thinks this will be a hobgoblin film. Apparently on Spidey 2 DVD there is a much longer ending with Harry Going back into his fathers Secret Lab. But due to studio pressure Raimi went with the shorter version which made it look like harry was going to turn his back on his old man. This just in James Cromwell has joined the cast as capt. Stacy who blames Spidey for the death of his Daughter. This is going to Big. Sam seems to be going through Actors address book and he seems to be calling everyone in town. This film just keeps getting better and darker.

    by VenomFangX

Bagley's Venom, and all the fans of Venom Lethal Protector, are the true fans of the definitive Venom. Have you played Marvel vs Capcom 2? The Venom in that game is based on Venom Lethal Protector, the look and sound of the character is 100% authentic and exactly what should be recreated for Spider-man 3.

They better allow you to play as Venom in the Spidey 3 video game. I loved Marvel vs Capcom, but they took too many liberties with Venom (Venomfang & the punches with teeth), and he wasn't fast enough. Most faithful version of Venom was the first Playstation game. Venom would cameflage himself then beat the tar out of you with tendrils and webbing. Ultimate Spider-man was fun as Venom, but eating civilians got old REALLY fast... how can a sound effect for venom be 100% authentic when the source material for venom is a comic book and comics don't have sound? i'm curious...what are you guys gonna do when there is no venom in spider-man 3? the only definitive picture of a spidey villan so far has been hayden-church as sandman. you've all moved right past evidence supporting venom even being in the movie and gone on to what version of venom you will see. STOP IT! when i see a poster that says Spidey vs Venom, then i'll beleive it. until then, i'll stick with raimi saying he doesn't like venom and put my money on topher being either electro or mysterio. anyways, these movies have been pretty character driven so far so why would they go with a major villan like venom who would do nothing for chracter development whatsoever?

    this is never gonna end

    by Annamaria

Until the movie comes out, or at least some script review and the trailer, we won't know exactly what this means. And I think Raimi is a genius. For the past couple of months, what has been on our minds? At least for me it has been X3 and Superman Returns. Now look what Raimi did. With one freakin picture, I couldn't give a shit how shitty X3 will be, I'm looking forward to a year and a half from now when this movie will come out. Genius. The eye- looks just like a building/house. Costume - I said before it's still early, if Raimi is going with the symbiote suit/Venom, then I think he'll put the white spider on it. Topher Grace - I still say that he should be Ben Reilly, and take over the character of Spiderman. I mean we have Gwen Stacey, just let them take over the movies! Wasn't Norman Osborn somehow involved in the whole Clone Saga thing??? Just say that he got some of Peter's DNA, and was having a clone made, and I dunno, let Raimi figure out the rest. But if Tobey and Kirsten are REALLY leaving after this movie, or the 4th if they're doing it back to back, then seriously, Raimi has a great opportunity to give us a new Spidey, a new love interest, and not fuck up the series with some made up bullshit, the Clone Saga was a ligit story from the comics, so people won't be entirely pissed off. Just my opinion.

    by ToughGuyRizzo

Looking at all the image enhancements of ALL the talkbacks, you really can't go a solid way. But when we get a large-sized poster in theaters, we can all go with fuckin magnifying glasses and scope that shit out there. For now, I like the poster, Venom or not. But if it's not Venom in the pic, why would PP be wearing an exact replica of his costume, but black? I'm sure Rami gave in, but wanted to do the costume his way or something. I like classic Todd Macfarlane, evil grinnin' Venom who preyed on PP's lack of spider-sense. He could fuck you AND your family at ANYTIME, and he MADE you know it...well PP that is.

    My thought on the reflection

    by Mergos

It seems like it might be Venom leaping at Spidey. Maybe Spiderman is down about something he did while in the symbiote suit giving reason for his frowning look. Also to those who see the home of Aunt May(which I noticed as well. I saw these 2 images when I looked at it differently) Eddie Brock knows Spiderman is Peter Parker because Parker wore the suit first leaving part of himself behind. Brock would visit Aunt May when Peter still lived there. I may have facts slightly mixed up since I haven't been up on comics lately.

    by joevfx

ok i am a VFX artist who works at a company who did some shots on spiderman 2 so i know alittle of the ins and outs of the industry. FIRST Raimi never said he hates Venom. in an interview he said " I odnt understand why Venom has this hatred for spiderman" he said this cause he said he didnt know the background of Venoms character. With that said, after seeing that most Spidey fans wanted to see Venom on teh big screen he obviosly went back and read up on Venom and saw alot of potential for the character. NOW, the movie doesnt coem out for over a year,( and i know you all say sandman is the main villian, and he prolly is) but why would they release an image of the MAIN baddy over a year in advance when they already said there is goin to be two Villians. So here comes alittle taste from sony , spidey in the black suit. Now can you really say Venom wont be in the movie? i dotn think there will be a spidey 4. why would the tease a character 4 years in advance. Hollywood is all about making there money NOW. And last but niot least i dont belive thast venom in the image. the designers are not that dumb to change a characters look from the image soooo dramatically like that. Especially when they have stuck pretty damn well with there other characters designs, Come on spidey looks almost exactly like the comic, so does sandman and Doc ock. Grean goblin they HAD to change cause it would have been too " COMIC BOOKY" and would not work well on screen. if green goblin re appears in anyway in the movie i think u will see a more comic book look to him this time around.

So I'm happy they're ostensibly going that way. I'm guessing he'll encounter the symbiote as Spider-Man, and it'll just go over/absorb into his existing costume, hence no design change. Love the idea of Raimi recreating the "sleep-swinging" scenes. What's the reflection in his eye? It's his frickin' ARM, people.

It still would've been great if Osborn had walked by a costume shop in the last film and one of the masks started talking to him (kind of like the mirror scene), which is why he choose the Goblin motif in the first place. Since it's Harry this time around and not Norman, they can fix all the of the clunkiness from the first film.

stop pulling things out of your ass. Raimi has said more times than I can count that he doesn't want to have Venom as a villain because he doesn't like the character. It didn't even come close. Hell Spiderman 2 doesn't stand up to repeat viewings. Will this one own? Maybe but it will never touch the sheer brilliance of Empire Strikes Back. Told you I did.

    very true, Doc Strange.

    by moondoggy2u

I was wondering if i was the only one that felt that way about spidey 2. Its interesting how spide is one of the best superhero movies of all time and yet its so...forgeable. Maybe its sorta like a pop culture thing? And you are also correct about ESB. As good as the last movie was (and I happen to love it quite a bit(, ESB just packed that extra emotional punch with the "I am your father" line. ROTS had a great emotion all its own (nice pathos, sense of betrayal, and sacrafice). But ESB had the most...rebellious nature, didnt it? And the absolute most kick ass cliffhanger.

That tells me one thing. That this is goigng be an event movie or a series of event movies. that it is going be operatically big and the actions scenes we saw in the first two films were nothing compared to what are going to be in this film or films. Notice Marvel has been very careful not to give anything away , even though the movie will be out next year. I dont know if the Shooting back to back thing is true, could it be that there will be to Spidey Movies out in 2007 and if so will this end the Maguire/Raimi Deal? HAve tobey and same do the first four films and then let some else do 5,6,7,8. I wonder at some stage will there be a Spidergirl movie?

    a HOUSE in Spider-Man's eye. w/ IMAGE

    by iamghetto

Take a look here: <br><br> <br><br> You can plainly see that there is a garbage can at the bottom of his eye. A garbage can put out on the street actually. Behind it to the right you can see a porch or something with railings, and to the left you can see a house on the door. Keep in mind that the image is warped due to the curve of spidey&#39;s eye. -Either- way, a cylindrical object with an open top is plainly visible in the bottom of his eye. You can even see the slight ridges on it. And also, I totally think that spider-man is asleep and the symbiote costume is taking him for a ride. His head is hung very low, his wrists are limp. He couldn&#39;t look more unconcious!

ACSG speaks: Spiderman 3 = SINISTER SIX

    by RossCobretti

I&#39;ll say it again: SPIDERMAN 3 WILL FEATURE THE SINISTER SIX. There have now been rumours of Venom, Sandman, Green Goblin, Electro and now Mysterio. We know Sandman is in the picture- if you wanted to hype a film, would you start by confiming the least popular villain of the group or the best? Now this won&#39;t be the classic SINISTER SIX- but then the first two Spiderman films aren&#39;t classic material either. Someone should be watching what ALFRED MOLINA is doing in the next year or so- HE MAY RETURN TO BE DOCTOR OCTOPUS AGAIN. This movie will build up to a MASSIVE battle that will have MANY villains- ala SINSTER SIX. Sony will NOT confirm this for ages... they&#39;ll give you all tidbits here and there until the anticipation has melted brains and the internet. Ask yourselves: If this is going to be the third and final film, why wouldn&#39;t there be a HUGE finale if it doesn&#39;t need to be "bettered" in a fourth film? My guess for SINSTER SIX: Green Goblin II, Sandman, Mysterio, Venom, Doctor Octopus and Electro, and I&#39;m willing to bet a tenner on it.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:31 p.m. CST

OK, lets put it this way.......

    by Doc_Strange

Spiderman and Empire Strikes Back should not be used in the same sentence. No movie should be used in reference to Empire because frankly no movie could ever live up to it.

    Sinister Six RossCobretti? Nope!

    by ToughGuyRizzo

S6 would be a great fanboy idea, and if done right I&#39;d love to see it....but RossCobretti you are really stretching right now...and all the others who believe that 6 major...ok, gonna say it again SIX MAJOR VILLIANS are gonna be in the next "2" movies. Rami&#39;s done a good job so far, hate or not. But, what SH films have been superior when featuing more than 2 villians? None. So throw in 6 villans and do all the backstories? Um, thats why Harvey Dent in Bat 4 Evah got hosed..... Like to see, just not a good idea. If you are SO convinced on S6, who&#39;s gonna play the rest of the parts, toughguy? Like I said B4, to early to say we know shit.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:42 p.m. CST

    by ToughGuyRizzo

Doc, Fuckin AMEN. I loved Spidey 2. But I don&#39;t think there will ever be a greater sequel than ESB. Not even "A Day at the Races" can compare to "A Night at the Opera", lol. Dark the new S3 pic may be, compare to ESB, you are Rick James BITCH!

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 10:53 p.m. CST

    by RossCobretti

Let&#39;s go through the villains. Green Goblin: back story done. Doctor Octopus: back story done. Sandman: in the majority of the film. That&#39;s 3 out of 6 back stories and actors done. Now we know there are AT LEAST two villains in the film, and at least two actors have been cast to play new villains. So that makes 4 actors done, even if one of these new villains is only in it in the latter half. We also know a character based on Eddie Brock has already appeared in Spiderman 2, and there&#39;s now this black costume furore. We also have JJJ&#39;s son in an apparent "side-story" going to the moon that doesn&#39;t feel right unless they are going to build on it. As JJJ jnr has also shacked up with Mary Jane, that makes for a fine villain set-up, motives and so on. So that&#39;s potentially five. Is it too much of the stretch of the imagination to think they could throw someone else in? Bruce Campbell has been rumoured to be Mysterio... a short stretch later and you have your SINISTER SIX. I&#39;ll say again: I&#39;ll bet atenner Spiderman 3 features an incarnation of the SINISTER SIX.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 11:15 p.m. CST

    Sinister Six? No way Jerky

    by ToughGuyRizzo

As much as I would love to see a ton of villans, you have to remember that Hollywood and producers have to set a general film budget in mind. The Doc Ock/Spidey train secen took almost a year to post produce and I bet a ton a $ to back. Ok, If you read anything on AICN, you read Franco said he&#39;d be HELPING Spidey. It may be easy to throw in the rest of the S6, but it dont mean is gonna happen. It would make it too cheezy a film. From a HW prospective, why throw in 6 villians in 1 film? Stretch it out to more films....U gotta be fuckin kidding. I know I am wasting my time as I wait to go to the bar, typing to you as I wait to type shit on the, but S6 is waaaaaaaay too much out there. I am a Venom fan and would like to see done right, but S6? Nah....too much.

    by Lt. Kaffee

I may be alone here, but I was severely underwhelmed by the first one, and when the 2&#39;s trailer hit I was like, "whoa, that looks intense." What I got was Dawson&#39;s Creek w/ Spiderman running around. The fight scenes kicked ass, but man did the drama have teen romance written all ove it.

  • Feb. 24, 2006, 11:28 p.m. CST

    by RossCobretti

ToughGuyRizzo: Seems we are the only two people that are reading this. The budget on this fight would be big, but not impossible. You can have it set in a warehouse for fuck&#39;s sake! How many villains do YOU think will be in the film? They have 14 months until release. They have better technology than they did for Spiderman 2. This is also Sam Raimi&#39;s last Spiderman film, and I believe it will be the last Spiderman film for quite a while. Go out with a bang: SINISTER SIX. Now, about that tenner?... This movie will not be as good as the others.

    by Ingeld

Why? Because most of the tension estasblished in the first two movies has been resolved. Maryjane knows his identity. Aunt Mae has forgiven Peter. Peter has come to grips with who he is and what is mission in life is. Even Harry has come face to face with Peter Parker/Spiderman and has chosen the life of a friend over revenge. (The only way to continue his rage will be to make him insane.) There is not much left to generate the same kind of emotional depth as before. It will have a hell of time being someting more than a movie about men in costumes attacking each other. The first two were more than that.

Real supervillans dont just slap on the costume and blow shit up. The most dangerous ones bide their time and calculate everything to make sure they have their revenge. I think Harry&#39;s allegences are still up in the air. As for Pete and Mary, they&#39;ve got a helluva lot of shit coming their way. How easy is it going to be for Mary J. to have arelationship with someone who&#39;s always jumping out of a window to save some other girl? Not to mention that Gwen is barging in on the whole thing. by son_of_snotball

I don&#39;t think this one is going to be a Venom can&#39;t jump into a Venom story until you do the story involving the symbiote and Spiderman..besides that I do not think that Topher Grace will be Eddie Brock...he&#39;s just too small and wimpy..Brock is a big guy...Venom is huge!..I think Grace is reserved for a different villain to be revealed later...what I am seeing is the classic death of Gwen Stacey;re going to have the Green Goblin..the Sandman...and another villain...along with a darker Spiderman/symbiote character...the symbiote is going to become jealous of the relationship between Parker and Stacey and will ultimately cause Parker to kill her..this will shake Parker out of his stupor and cause him to reject the symbiote..I would assume that the end of the movie..we may see a teaser involving the merging of the symbiote with Eddie Brock as a lead into the next movie...that&#39;s just my two far as the reflection in the eye...I can&#39;t be sure...I doesn&#39;t seem like it would be the Goblin...he&#39;s not really going to be the featured villain here I don&#39;t think..he&#39;s just one of the may be a clue as to the third villain...who knows?...when I look at it sideways...looks like it spells OCK...but that doesn&#39;t make any sense either...there is definitely something there. :/

    Batman Begins...

    by SK909

kicked the ass of both Spiderman movies. I just don&#39;t get how anyone can get excited after the horrible acting, melodrama, and bad effects in those films. I said it in another TB, and I&#39;ll say it again - Batman was the first seamless comic book translation. The effects, the acting, the back story, and even the lead-in to the first sequel just blew Spiderman out of the water, and, I&#39;m guessing, I&#39;ll have the same opinion with regards to Superman. I can&#39;t believe that people aren&#39;t creaming their pants wondering how they&#39;re going to deal with the Joker, cause thus far, they&#39;ve explained everything really well without falling into the trap of being ridiculous. Not to mention having Morgon Freeman, Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, and Michael Caine all playing major parts. If that cast came together for any other film, we&#39;d be creaming, but they came together for a fucking Batman movie, cause they knew this one would be different. There just doesn&#39;t seem to be as much interest as there should be regarding sequel developments. Fuck spiderman, I really must be crazy or insane cause I feel like I&#39;m the only one who thinks those movies are terrible. I thought X-Men 2 was also better than both Spiderman movies. And so far, having Kevin Spacey play Lex Luthor isn&#39;t a step in the right direction for Superman, and neither is the Abercrombie model looking guy they&#39;ve got playing Supes. I could be wrong, Singer did right by X-Men, so... who knows? Btw, anyone think that guy who played Chuck in Chuck and Buck could have been Christopher Reeves illegitimate son? I thought he would have been better cast.

From an imdb blogger: Spiderman in Downtown LA by - Miss_C 50 minutes ago (Sat Feb 25 2006 01:03:11 ) Just got back from downtown LA...dunno if this has been posted already...but I just wanted to share that Chris Tucker shot his cameo in front of some bank...and there was a person in a black costume...prolly not Venom person looked scrawny (coulda been like a blue screen kinda thingy) anyway...kinda cool to see movie being shot...never seen it before" In addition check out this shot from the set: Notice the sand all over the columns, street, etc. and the buckets of sand by the doorway. Sandy&#39;s robbin&#39; a bank...looks to be the same bank as Spider-Man 2.

    What would be really funny...

    by JimboTFU

is if someone could post a link to a photoshopped version of the eye with a funny image inserted into it. That would both mock those who are trying to see something in it and also make you look very very funny indeed. However, you&#39;d better do it quickly before someone else has the same idea!

    Now we&#39;re talkin!

    by axelfoley

And yeah, just to throw it out there for good measure as a Spidey fan, I&#39;m one of "those" who couldn&#39;t be more stoked about them going with the black costume but don&#39;t appreciate that it&#39;s just a grey version of the movie outfit and not the total black lineless outfit with that that giant white spider on the front from 1984. But you know what? The hell with that, this movie will still own all our lives in 2007, even though I hate Venom, I&#39;ve dealt with it. Gwen and Capt. Stacy is fine with me, but why are they taking story arcs from 3 decades and blending them in one movie. If I had no choice and had to use Venom, if I were Raimi, I&#39;d do what many other people online have already tossed around: You get Tobey to change up the suit because like the other ones dirty or something, have it control him then he gets rid of it and at the end you have Topher Grace aka/Eddie Brock/Jason Macendale/Quinten Beck/whatever the fuck the guy is be developed during the movie, but come out full force in the end. I can only hope Raimi doesn&#39;t fuck this one up. Ever notice how the third movies are usually the worst? Beverly Hills Cop, Scream, Superman(still better than IV), Batman Forever(still better than B&R),Godfather and the everso shaping up to be X-Men 3. The third time has proven time and time again to not be the charm for the aforementioned blockbuster movie franchises. But what the hell.

  • Feb. 25, 2006, 3:19 p.m. CST

    He&#39;s just in mourning!

    by JimboTFU

From the mouth of Mr Sam Raimi himself: ""The task that I had was to try and understand where he was when we last left him ... at the end of Spider-Man 2, trying to figure out what he lacked as a human being, as far as where he was immature and what he had not learned," Raimi said. "And certainly there&#39;s so much for that kid to learn. He really has been denied a social life. He&#39;s just been focused on being this do-gooder. And never really even dealing with the death of his uncle, just paying down his guilt with every criminal he brings to justice, never really addressing his own guilt that he feels in his heart and coming to terms with it. He&#39;s never really looked inside himself. So I think this picture ... he&#39;s going to have [to] look a little more inside himself and recognize and deal with some of the deficiencies that he has as a human being." Maybe Peter&#39;s just finally properly mourning his uncle / letting in his grief...and that&#39;s why he&#39;s wearing black, sitting in the rain and looking glum?

    Spidey riddle Resolved.

    by emeraldboy

There is not just going to be one villain in spider man three. there is an fact three. Person One is the Guy/girl at the window and above him hands outstretched and its venom look down and you will see venoms white logo. At the bottom left of the eye there is another figure, it is hard to see at first but there is a figure there. The black swirl is the Symbiote which signifies to me that Venom is connected to this movie. Somehow. Could the man at the window be none other than Doc Ock....... according to Sam Raimai, Doc Ock didnt die in the scond movie. In Spiderman there was only one villian, in spidey two there were two and so therefore in Spidey three there will be three villains, Sandman, Venom and Doc Ock!

    Sinister Six Perhaps?

    by son_of_snotball

Ya know...You&#39;ve already got Doc Ock..who is supposedly not dead..and the Sandman...perhaps Topher Grace as Electro...I think someone said that Bruce Campbell was slated to play Mysterio...all you need now is Kraven and the Vulture...if the SIX don&#39;t ALL materialize in this film I do believe that some of them will as they will have to be put away one by one before Doc Ock gathers them all together to form the SS...looks like Raimi is definitely setting things up for a Spiderman vs. The Sinister Six flick....Ooooooooh..I can&#39;t wait to see that one!...Make it happen Sammy!

Spidey wears a black SUIT... Pay attention!

    by ZeroCorpse

The front page of the web site says "Spider-Man wears a black suit in Spider-Man 3"-- SUIT. Not "costume." Mary Jane or Aunt May dies, and he wears a black SUIT. Look at the body language: MOURNING. Look at the use of words> Never says "costume", only "suit." Look at the wording above that "You may think you&#39;re looking at a black and white photo." But it never actually says you&#39;re not... It just says "you may think" you are. This is Sam Raimi fucking with your heads. Spider-Man (Peter Parker) DOES wear a BLACK SUIT. Not a BLACK COSTUME, but a suit. Someone dies, he&#39;s in mourning, and he wears black to the funeral... Maybe, possibly, he switches to black as Spider-Man, too, but that does NOT mean this is Venom, a symbiote, or anything of the sort. I still say it&#39;s Sandman, GG2, and ELECTRO. Mark my words- This is a Raimi mindfuck.

    Only the Ditko issues matter

    by Napoleon Park

V-man doesn&#39;t matter. Do all the Ditko characters first, then move on to the Romita Sr. material, then if the series has legs get to the crap stuff later on. Lose that snaggle-toothed blonde playing Mary Jane and bring in Betty and Liz. People who don&#39;t like a depressed and angsty Spidey should go away since they clearly don&#39;t understand the character. People who can&#39;t spell Spider-man with a hyphen should go back to reading Batman. People who don&#39;t know Mike Zeck designed the Secret Wars suit... okay, they get some slack. All black, flat with no texture works in the comics (and is so much easier to ink) where everything is skin tight latex/spandex, but would have no visual interest. So Superman gets a safety strap belt with an El family crest for a buckle and Spidey gets waffle-knit long johns. It just works better "real world" style. Part of the fun of doing a super-hero movie is envisioning a &#39;real world&#39; version of those flat, four color images. (and I know modern computer colored comics don&#39;t use the classic four-color process - another reason they suck so much.) *** That rant out of the way, interesting if endless debate on the rorshach reflection in Spidey&#39;s lense. (I could only plod through a third of it, sorry if this came up already.) I saw the "V For Vendetta" mask. But speaking of Rorshach, maybe it&#39;s The Chameleon. The original Spider-man villain from &#39;Amazing&#39; #1 - the prototype for The Question and Mr. A. Like I say, do the Ditko villains first - Chameleon, Terrible Tinkerer, Ox, Ringmaster and the Circus of Crime with Princess Python, Electro, Vulture, Just A Guy Named Joe... Do the good stuff first and save the second rate villains like Punisher and V-man and Hemoboglin for later on, when the kid that plays Dewey on "Malcolm and his Middle" takes over the role from Tooby.

    by Lone Fox

It&#39;s a press release. Not a conundrum, not a riddle, not a quiz. The blurb says &#39;You may think you&#39;re looking at a B&W image, but look closely. Spider-man wears a black suit in Spider-man 3&#39;. It&#39;s not rocket science. Plenty of comic-books refer to the hero&#39;s costume as a suit or uniform nowadays. Doesn&#39;t anyone read comics anymore?

    Spidey costume

    by emeraldboy

There are two Spidey costumes, one is blue and red and has the black spider on the front of the chest and the other is navy or dark blue and has a red spider of the back. Why change it now. Having seen both spiderman films, IN the first film parker looses his uncle ben and towardrds the end he(as spidermna) is responsible for the death of Norman Osbourne he gets fired from his jobs, gets thrown out his apartment cause he cant pay the rent, moves in with his aunt may, after Harry Osbourne buys the land Aunt May faces eviction from her home. Peter and Harry both Loose Mary jane to John Jameson and the end of the second film it brefly introduced Peters New Nieghbour who was a clutz and was the daughter of his lanlord. The movie hinted at just how powerful peter could be when he is pushed beyond the limits of his mild temperment. He brifely abandoned his spiderman personae when he realised that being a hero isnt all its cracked up to be. This poster hints that in order to defeat his enemys he has to go to a very dark place indeed.

Whatever you want it to be

    by [STARS]TyranT

I&#39;m with Moriaty on this one. It&#39;s a cleverly engineered reflection so that to some it just looks like some buildings, to others it looks like a window with a symbiote climbing up toward it, to being venom&#39;s face - to being whatever you want it to be. It&#39;s an utterly amazing teaser poster - if not ultiamtely, an example of how to make the best one. How many teaser posters can honestly claim to have this much, controversy, if you will.. about a reflection in ones eye. Raimi know&#39;s how to play it, I wouldn&#39;t be suprised if Ratner and Singer are bewildered on how the fuck they can possibly top a teaser like that. Ty^

one more asshole&#39;s thoughts on the eye

    by stickmangrit

i think it might be a composite image (ala two faces/vase). tilt it one way, and you get a skyscraper with a black figure with a tattered cloak in the shadows on the far left. tilt it another way, and you get the front porch of what looks like Aunt May&#39;s house. and yet, the bottom of the skyscraper, due to the eye-warp, looks eerily like a freakish smile, but the eyes really aren&#39;t there, only the darker smile directly below the windows. a combined foreshadowing of venom and Hobgoblin. as i don&#39;t think this is really the teaser poster, merely a internet pic, the exclusion of Sandman makes perfect sense, as we&#39;ve already seen him and have no need for a teaser with him in it. the actual teaser-sheet will most likely feature the black suit in conjunction with Sandy. this picture is meant for the internet, to stir up the Venom debate, and the3 references involved would be largely lost on a mainstream audience.

    I adored Batman Begins

    by emeraldboy

I loved every singe (katie free) minute of Batman Begins, Cillian Murphy was undoubtdly the best thing in it. The movie made more sense to have jo schill kill bruces parents , he afterall worked for Carmine Falconio and they way they turned Bruce into Batman was more Believable, than in the first movie were he suddenly became batman to take on the Joker. I loved Morgan Freeman&#39;s character. Bruce" Whats that?" Freeman with wry smile, "oh you wouldnt be interested in that". That line" Does it come in black". I loved the way they dispensed with the Schizophrenic Wayne, that was I thought the one tiniest weakness in the first movie, Bale was more believable as Batman but less so as bruce wayne, I loved the moments of Horror and I loved the moments of Tension, that scene in the Docks made my heart pound. Dispensin with Burton Goth was again a wise move. Batman is no longer old and stale or tired. And my favourite scenes are when batman hoists this crim in the air from about forty feet and batmans face is bubblin rage, The Scene with bruce, standing in the cave being encircled by the bats and the Scene where he corners the scarecrow and we see batmans face turned in to that of a bat. Cool. Batman Begins Was for me the film of the summer. Caine was also excellent.

    by KillerInstnct

Personally, I don&#39;t think that Venom is going to be in the movie at all. As those of us remember from the books, it was Black Cat who made the first black Spidey suit for Spider-Man. We all know for a fact that Black Cat will be in the thrid movie. Simply makes sense to me.

Venom Will Only Show Up At The End

    by Mako

Watch out. Don&#39;t get yourselves so hyped to a Spidey/Venom movie, cause you won&#39;t get it. **POSSIBLE SPOILERS** My bet is that Eddie Brock (Grace) will be set up throughout the movie, and end up becoming VENOM at the very end in the church. He will get this because Spidey will somehow get the suit off of him while up near the church bell tower after he&#39;s broken down over Mary Jane being killed during his big battle between Sandman and Hobgolbin. That her death was somehow caused by the black suit. So he laments at the top of the roof in the rain (hence the pic)... and unknowlingly casts the suit down onto Brock, who becomes taken over by it (and hates Spider-Man because of what-ever set up they conjure up for movie #3). And hence... Venom is born. Now... I may be 100% way off base... but I&#39;m feelin&#39; pretty good about this storyline.

There isn&#39;t going to be a Spider Man 4.

    by Childe Roland

They aren&#39;t shooting anything back-to-back. The principal players only signed for three films. There has been no official talk of a fourth film yet (note that Superman Returns is already greenlighting a sequel while at roughly the same stage in development as Spidey 3, which should tell you something). It looks like the rabid fanboys won out with their desire to get Venom in a movie, now they&#39;re bitching that one movie isn&#39;t enough? Tough. Just like X-Men, Spidey&#39;s going to be a trilogy. I will say that if by some oddball fucking chance I&#39;m wrong and they are going to milk this franchise beyond No. 3, the natural place to do a Sinister Six story would be in the sixth film (S6). But it&#39;s not going to get anywhere near that far. Trust me on this. The idea of anything cinematic happening to Spidey beyond this next film is purely wishful thinking.

That&#39;s Venom&#39;s face in his eye reflection

    by NathanDetroits

"if you tilt your head so the top of Spidey&#39;s head is pointing upright and look at the very bottom of this eye... there&#39;s kind of a grinning face there. Looks like the Goblin&#39;s mask." No sir, that looks like Venom&#39;s face to me. The eyes look too jaggy and organic to be that smooth metal Goblin mask. Mark my words. That&#39;s Venom.

Too much of a cash cow

    by Immortal_Fish

We disagree, Childe. If this makes a heap of cash (and it will) there will be an inevitable sequel. And the Spidey series has made hella heaps o&#39;cash. Who cares about contracts with original actors or when it&#39;s eventually greenlighted? Money talks. And if the original cast doesn&#39;t come back, so what? Are you thinking that each sequel will at least aspire to reach the standard of the films preceding it? There&#39;s the rub, of course. Spidey 4 could feasibly be of Corman FF, Goldblatt Frank, or Pyun Cap standard and still be a sequel. Hell, lookit Starship Troopers 2.

    Spiderman in Mourning!!!!!!!! Here&#39;s why.....

    by BeeRock

It seems very obvious that the tone of this photo with Spidey with his head down in the rain... is showing him in mourning. With Gwen Stacy around, Mary Jane must die early in the film, prompting a horribly depressed Spidey to dye his own suit black. It makes sense for the film AND gives a nod to the black suit without having to introduce alien stuff and Venom, which we all know Raimi is against.

  • Feb. 28, 2006, 6:43 p.m. CST

    by son_of_snotball

Mary Jane does NOT die although that ditz Kirsten Dunce would like her to die...this movie introduces Gwen Stacy...her relationship with Peter parker actually proceeds that of Mary Jane...Stacey should have been in the first movie because it was the original Green Goblin who pushed her off the Brooklyn Bridge...when Spiderman tried to catch her with his web..the web grabbed her heel and she stopped too abruptly and her neck the first Spiderman movie they recreated the scene with Mary Jane this time..only in this one..she lived...I&#39;m guessing that in the new one they will kill Stacy off...although..with Dunce wanting out of the series..perhaps they will do the &#39;ol switchero and make Stacy Spideys new squeeze...who knows..anything is possible with these Hollywood screwballs...they certainly like to mess with the storylines....Arrggggggggggh!!! Evidence for the goblin reflection

    by sol blast

There is undoubtable a reflection of the green goblin in the eye. It&#39;s rather blurry, but this is a Computer generated image, it&#39;s too clear to be an accident. it depicts the Goblin with a menacing grin and what look like goggles. i don&#39;t expect this to end the debate as to whether there is an image in the eye, but i&#39;ve enlarged the image for you to decide for yourself. Enlarged Image- Anotated Image-
