Ahoy, squirts! Quint here, newly returned from a small celebration of a friend who is now one more year closer to death to find this in my inbox:
The first french teaser trailer of Guillermo Del Toro's new film !!!!!!!!!!

That came from the Chief Editor of website DVDrama.com who nabbed the trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's next Spanish language flick. I clicked over excitedly, after having really dug the poster (remember the tree that resembled a woman's reproductive organs?) and those pics that surfaced a few months ago. Now I've seen the trailer and PAN'S LABYRINTH has shot up into the top 2 or 3 movies I'm dying to see in 2006. It looks fucking terrifying! What do you folks think?

I'm still on the fence about whether I want him to direct Halo or not.
-
This is some creepy shit. The gurgling sound at the end caps it off nicely...
-
I'm still waiting to see that one.
I don't mind these people biting off Labyrinth...but if you're gonna do it, how about trying to cast a girl in the same zip code as young Jennifer Connelly. -
I like to think of it more like leveling up. I'm a +28 now. I can use this big ass sword now... and I'll need it for when death comes a knockin'. Suck it blue! Red rules! :)
-
MUST. SEE. NOW.
-
read the title.
-
Lets hope it can deliver.
-
Dammit, I want to blow it up and analyze it frame by frame. That "Hi Res" is fucking tiny.
-
I have only seen 3 movies by this guy-Cronos, some kid in a well pic and Hell Boy. None disappointed and all were fresh, inventive and had a great sense of atmosphere, pacing and great creature Fx. Its a shame he did not get the Creature from the Black LAgoon, because the script I saw leaked on the film they are making was pure shit. Universal will stick the nail in that coffin for good.
-
Can't wait! Guillermo just gets better and better.
-
So this is less-kiddie version of this story I take it. I remember seeing the Jin Henson one in theaters and Jennifer Connelly has never aged since then. I'm definitely seeing this. Knowing del toro he'll have some new vaginal type of monster for Harry to fetch his towel ove. :D

Okay, J-horror is not scary, so it was easy, but holy shit, I MUST SEE THAT!!!! I hope it's not going straight to DVD here in Germany, like GDT's other not-hollywood-films >:(
-
I just wanted to say that J-Horror S!U!C!K!S!!!!
-
and this will be legend ALL over again!
-
Hmmm! Another Del Toro film thats shot seemingly entirely underground in wet caves. Really needs to get out more. He is to underground tunnels what Tony Scott is to smoke machines and filters.
-
...had it been edgier.
-
I liked this movie when it was called Labrinth. Or Mirrormask. Or Alice in Wonderland.

And GDT is definitely a MexiCAN!

which is a good thing. i bet del Toro could kick some serious ass if he adapted a few of the original Grimm tales, which is what that trailer reminds me of.
-
Since that is the actual video.
-
He has an eyeball . . . ON HIS HAND!!!
Sorry, but that trailer just looks trite, dull and tepid. I don't know why everyone proclaims greatness for every teaser done by AICN's "favored" directors even when it looks like total crap. What about that makes anybody want to see it other than it is a film by the G-Man?
REMEMBER SAMMY JANKIS!!! -
Hollywood has ruined you guys... sadly, me as well.
-
Ahem, yes. Quite good, yes. Peace Out.
-
Looks like the kind of horroradventurelabyrinth-film I could spend a lot to see in a cinema.
-
...that is *identical* to one in 'Hellboy.' Maybe on a smaller scale, in which case it wouldn't be identical, but I guess congruent. ANYway, yeah. Did anybody else notice this? I don't know how to describe it, but it's the thing that Rasputin is resurrected from. You know, with the blood and such. Just thought I'd point that out. Trailer was good. Fascinating imagery. Don't know if people should be going out on a limb and calling it "creepy" already, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

does anyone have a link to the poster Quint is referencing?
by regenhund
Sorry, but the irony of "wood for wood" is just too much to resist.
-
...with some pretty cool imagery. Del Toro is pretty strong in that department of course. Can't really tell much of anything other than that. I have a very strong stomach and love gore but some things can be pretty damn grim. The eye in the hand...grim. Cool, but grim. Just imagining what it must feel like. Ugh.
The biggest problem for me is the fact that it's not Quicktime. Not sure why but it seems to be the latest thing is to deliver trailers in Flash. Which just makes it harder to save it to your PC. Now I've mentioned this before and I'll mention it again, it's no use blocking us from saving the trailer on to our PC's...if I never saved trailers to my PC the rest of my family would never see them. They don't have access to the internet and I sure as hell ain't gonna re-download it everytime I wanna show someone. But hey, that's just my opinion. -
I went to set in Madrid and I must say that this fairy tale will make you have nightmares... Yes, it's simply this awesome!

Nothing Soecial. Hardly an original shot in the entire trailer.

Color me unimpressed.

Donde esta me...uh extra pantelones?

I'm not refering to the entire talkback group, just the luggnutz that don't have a clue. The title is "Pan's Labyrinth"!!! I don't recall Pan being in Jim Henson's Labyrinth (title nor footage). You ass clowns see the word Labyrinth and a dark haired young female and you instantly think that this film is a remake? How does that happen? I bet you think that the word Labyrinth was created by Jim Henson. Oh, and if you were intending your remarks to be a joke, I think you need to keep your day jobs.
-
I guess I should'nt make up words on the fly!!! It seems that the word I used in the title of my last post isn't a made up word after all. I meant no disrespect to anyone of Indonesian background. I'm not sure what the word means, but, anothe rculture created it before I did! I guess I should Google first before I get too creative in the heat of a rant.
-
By the way, I just thought I'd chime in on the topic of the talkback, now that I've washed down the taste of some of that crow and shoe leather appetizer I served myself. The trailer does look interesting, it is just a teaser, so its hard to tell how great or awesome, or incredible it is just yet. del Toro seems to be a competent director, I did enjoy Hellboy, even though it wasn't perfect.Pan's Labyrinth looks like it has some cool dark atmosphere and some creepy visuals going for it, I'll just wait for a full trailer to decide wether I'll see it in the theatre or wait for dvd. I'm outta here!
-
the fucker reloaded the page just as I was about to DL it, stupid morons
-
I'm sitting here, broad daylight coming through the windows, and that scared the piss out of me. That's the scariest shit I've seen in a LONG time, and it was just a teaser. Oh, and to whoever asked, that poster that Quint mentioned is linked to this teaser announcement on Joblo.com.
-
Ooh, living statues, old trees and a "scary" throaty Goblin-ish whisper in the background. I'm so scawed. It would be even more "impressive" if it had a white wabbit with a watch.
By the way, want a scary trailer? See the original one for ALIEN.
-
I can't wait to see this one. The Devil's Backbone is my favorite horror movie of the last few years.
-
Seems it's a world created by the little girl's mind.... so I have no idea how dark it's going to be, it might be more "family fare" than we think.
-
Okay, maybe saying it put me to sleep is harsh... But you honestly can't tell me that this was 'scary' in any sense of the word. The DEVIL HANDS looked fatty. NEXT!

It looks like fairly mediocre stuff to me. Nothing to cream your jeans over. Like all of GDT's work for that matter. I don't hate it, I don't love it.
-
Seems most are thinking "rip-off", not "remake."
--That the title actually includes the name of the film it appears to be ripping off would seem to indicate they're trying to a.) confuse the issue, b.) be upfront about it or c.) have massive balls.
---All this said, it looks neat. I'm still more interested in the Gaiman/McKean/Henson take on (what appears to be very) similiar material. -
but something about that trailer gave me massive flashbacks to ridley scott's 'legend'.
-
cause then i wouldn't be able to concentrate on the movie i came to see. Id just spend the whole time thinking how cool pan's labyrinth is going to be. All hail the latino Harry.
-
Whyd they make a sequel to 8MM? Why do I ask stoopid questions?
-
Does anyone know where to get the real trailer?
-
Looks great!
-
Del Toro hasn't made a good movie since Devil's Backbone. Blade 2 sucked ass. This looks like another rip-off, borrowed from better filmmakers than Del Toro.
-
I just want to note, just reading the plot synopsis for Cronos on imdb gave me nightmares. Would someone please give del Toro $200 mil and a script for "Lovecraft vs. Poe"? It'll be stupendous! Great trailer, by the way.
-
I'd be loving this teaser if 25% of it weren't black screen due to the hyperactive fading in and out. Is this the most annoying movie trailer cliche since "In a World..." or what? Unless this movie's about someone slowly coming out of a coma, stop screwing around and just show us the damn movie!
-
that trailer looked like rubbish.
-
Marilyn Manson probably isnt too busy these days.

so when did most of you stop enjoying films in general?
by thunder mammoth
sorry, i'm remembering a time when people encouraged the creative do-ers of the world. naysayers should quit watching trailers that actually make them upset. sheesh...

"ANYway, yeah. Did anybody else notice this? I don't know how to describe it, but it's the thing that Rasputin is resurrected from."

FYI...it's called a labyrinth lol...some religions use them...it's supposed to be a pygmy version of a spiritual journey...or something like that.
* *
as far as the comparison between jim henson's movie and this?
* *
well they are obviously variations of the same story...female maturity and sexuality. regardless of the Erlk -
I liked that alot. Looks freaky. I have faith in Del Toro. Now that I've seen that trailer, my thoughts on him directing HALO have shifted slightly.
-
i'd buy that for a dollar, or seven and a half, even... i was a little lukewarm on hellboy, but this looks like scarier and less cheesy material, which is a good thing for del toro. getting away from comic books will be a good thing (this isn't based on one, is it?). 8MM2 looks like shit, however, straight from the horse's ass...
