Ahoy, squirts! Quint here, newly returned from a small celebration of a friend who is now one more year closer to death to find this in my inbox:

The first french teaser trailer of Guillermo Del Toro's new film !!!!!!!!!!

Hi res :

Click on "Rejouer la video" and turn your speakers on !!!!!

That came from the Chief Editor of website DVDrama.com who nabbed the trailer for Guillermo Del Toro's next Spanish language flick. I clicked over excitedly, after having really dug the poster (remember the tree that resembled a woman's reproductive organs?) and those pics that surfaced a few months ago. Now I've seen the trailer and PAN'S LABYRINTH has shot up into the top 2 or 3 movies I'm dying to see in 2006. It looks fucking terrifying! What do you folks think?

    by uberman

I have only seen 3 movies by this guy-Cronos, some kid in a well pic and Hell Boy. None disappointed and all were fresh, inventive and had a great sense of atmosphere, pacing and great creature Fx. Its a shame he did not get the Creature from the Black LAgoon, because the script I saw leaked on the film they are making was pure shit. Universal will stick the nail in that coffin for good.

...that is *identical* to one in 'Hellboy.' Maybe on a smaller scale, in which case it wouldn't be identical, but I guess congruent. ANYway, yeah. Did anybody else notice this? I don't know how to describe it, but it's the thing that Rasputin is resurrected from. You know, with the blood and such. Just thought I'd point that out. Trailer was good. Fascinating imagery. Don't know if people should be going out on a limb and calling it "creepy" already, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

    by lucienpierce

...with some pretty cool imagery. Del Toro is pretty strong in that department of course. Can't really tell much of anything other than that. I have a very strong stomach and love gore but some things can be pretty damn grim. The eye in the hand...grim. Cool, but grim. Just imagining what it must feel like. Ugh.

The biggest problem for me is the fact that it's not Quicktime. Not sure why but it seems to be the latest thing is to deliver trailers in Flash. Which just makes it harder to save it to your PC. Now I've mentioned this before and I'll mention it again, it's no use blocking us from saving the trailer on to our PC's...if I never saved trailers to my PC the rest of my family would never see them. They don't have access to the internet and I sure as hell ain't gonna re-download it everytime I wanna show someone. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I'm not refering to the entire talkback group, just the luggnutz that don't have a clue. The title is "Pan's Labyrinth"!!! I don't recall Pan being in Jim Henson's Labyrinth (title nor footage). You ass clowns see the word Labyrinth and a dark haired young female and you instantly think that this film is a remake? How does that happen? I bet you think that the word Labyrinth was created by Jim Henson. Oh, and if you were intending your remarks to be a joke, I think you need to keep your day jobs.

I meant no disrespect to anyone of Indonesian background. I'm not sure what the word means, but, anothe rculture created it before I did! I guess I should Google first before I get too creative in the heat of a rant.

    by mr. luddite

By the way, I just thought I'd chime in on the topic of the talkback, now that I've washed down the taste of some of that crow and shoe leather appetizer I served myself. The trailer does look interesting, it is just a teaser, so its hard to tell how great or awesome, or incredible it is just yet. del Toro seems to be a competent director, I did enjoy Hellboy, even though it wasn't perfect.Pan's Labyrinth looks like it has some cool dark atmosphere and some creepy visuals going for it, I'll just wait for a full trailer to decide wether I'll see it in the theatre or wait for dvd. I'm outta here!

    by blue1622

Seems most are thinking "rip-off", not "remake."

--That the title actually includes the name of the film it appears to be ripping off would seem to indicate they're trying to a.) confuse the issue, b.) be upfront about it or c.) have massive balls.

---All this said, it looks neat. I'm still more interested in the Gaiman/McKean/Henson take on (what appears to be very) similiar material.
