Ahoy, squirts! Quint here to announce the winner and the great runners up to the Stop Motion Contest I ran a couple weeks ago for that amazing Kong Vs. The V-Rex statue from Weta Collectibles.

I called for people to create their own stop motion video, which ain't an easy task. I honestly expected to get maybe 5 or 6 entries, but I ended up with over 30 and real, real tough choice to make.

I shared some of these with Harry and told him it was a shame that only the winner gets a prize. Considering the hard work that went into every single entry I just plain felt bad that only one was going to get some goodies for their sweat. So, Harry decided to give the 2nd and 3rd place a full BNAT goodie bag, which has all sorts of cool shit in it. The exact contents of the goodie bags are top secret as of now, but rest assured... there are some really geek-smile items.

So, who are the winners? Weta has graciously hosted the winner and the runner ups.

3rd Place

This comes from a man by the name of Dan Anderson from West Hartford, CT. Of the entries, this was the best at capturing Willis O'Brien's soul. Ultimately, I think it's just too short. I love it, though.

2nd Place

This is where I really started wanting to rip my brain in half. This entry was my favorite up until the final day. To this day, this is still a part of me that prefers this one. It's hilarious and STILL makes me guffaw. Not laugh, guffaw. However, the ultimate winner I think combined the best of 1st and 2nd place. This one is still amazing and without a doubt the funniest of the entries. Just thinking about it makes me chuckle. This done by a Jack Cram from La Canada, CA.

1st Place

And the big winner. Like I said above this one is the best of all three worlds. The quality of the stop motion is top-notch, the humor is there (notice the black eye and the toe twitter) and it tells a full story all DARK PASSAGE style.

Thanks to all who entered. I am completely sincere when I say we didn't get one bad entry. I had an entry from a 10 year old that was cute as hell and a great one called Taylor's Terror with Richard Taylor as Ann Darrow done by a 16 year old named Caleb Christofer who took 3 days off of school to enter. There was even one that had a clay-made Harry Knowles eating a tub of ice cream as Kong notices through the window and tries to take it from him.
