Published at:  Nov 09, 2005 9:33:52 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Some will remember that “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” mastermind Joss Whedon actually made his acting debut, silently and under heavy makeup, as the dancing demon Numfar on “Angel.”

But on tonight’s “Veronica Mars” (which also features “Buffy” alumni Alyson Hannigan and Charisma Carpenter in recurring roles), Whedon actually has lines.

Read more of this appearance here.

    Great show, interesting season......

    by jimmy jazz

But last week's episode left me underwhelmed. Wallace's personal and girlfriend problems are really boring. Now that he has ran off with daddy to work out his issues, they can concentrate on the main plotlines, which are cool. Can't wait to see this ep.

She's also going to be in the episode, she wins the appearance and gets to visit the set. So I guess if you want to see a visit to the set of Veronica Mars, watch Top Model before it...

    by zakchase

Head on over to Whedonesque.com, where Joss posted today. Turns out, Dark Horse is starting a brand new Buffy comic, to be considered canon, to be personally overseen by Joss himself (who will also write the first four issues). Apparently, the series picks up with Buffy in Europe at the side of the Immortal. First King revives "The Gunslunger." Now this.

    Will there be one?

Was also disappointed with last weeks ep of VM. Where's Charisma? I hear she may back in this ep.
Am enjoying the season-mystery so far. I can imagine there are some big twists to come - notably involving the Steve Gutterballs character.

Whoever was leaving was supposed to go 'early in the season' and after 12 episodes. Do they have to be in all 12 episodes? Seriously the only regular who's story seems to be over is Duncan.

    by prior walter

I remember reading he would only be in half of the season's episodes. Which sucks. We get that bitch from New York, but can't have Weevil? And Dick and Beaver are regulars, but Weevil has to go? Boo!

    I don't think it's Weevil who leaves

    by drath

He and several regulars are only in 12 episodes this season, but he hasn't been in every episode so far, meaning if he leaves after being in 12 episodes then it won't be early in the season--certainly not after the first 12 episodes...unless I'm misinterpreting how that works or the "early in the season" part of is wrong. Honestly getting rid of Weevil would be stupid as the character is Veronica's only link to the underpriviledged in Neptune. There are too many rich kids in the cast as it is! They should be doing MORE with Weevil and not less.

    by prior walter

For the lif eof me I can't remember her name. But I hope she was just brought on to be killed off. She seems like she'd be the perfect victim. And she's a regular, it would be an emotional connection for Veronica AND Wallace. If not her or Weevil, I don't know who it would be. I doubt it would be Logan, Duncan or her dad. Who would really care if it were Dick or Beaver, they're barely around as is.

And Wallace's girlfriend has been in every episode except for the first.

Just like Silver should have pulled out of The Matrix after Bound made no money. Or Predator after Nomads did nothing. And because an adaptation of one of the world's most recognizable comic book properties must have the same commercial chances as a low-budget, no stars sci-fi western based on a cancelled TV show nobody saw. Yeah.

    Veronica Mars Needs Women Explanation

    by danielkurland

It's not that complicated. There is a movie called "Mars Needs Women". It's a play on that. Speaking of such though, looks like Rob Thomas is seriously considering adding Mac (Tina Majorino) to the main characters. Also, I guess in the episode at the end of November, a huge twist is coming up that they've shot multiple endings for. It's pretty ridiculous when you realize we're at episode 6 and so much is happening, when in comparison to last year, comparing what was going on in episode 6 to episode 18 for example was compeltely different and much crazier. If the stakes are raised that much by episode 18 this season, I'll be incredibly impressed/pleased.

    Chances For Renewal?

    by prior walter

I know it's early, but I'm wondering what the chances are for getting renewed? I know it's doing better this season, even with it going against LOST, so hopefully that bodes well.

    Another really good episode

    by whedon

Joss, especially that picture of him, was funny in his all to short scene, nothing is going to top Numfar though. Interesting hearing Logan's dad trying to explain that he wasn't exactly the guy who killed Lilly. More misdirection from him or not. I do not think this was just some throwaway line.

No show does a better job at balancing the comedy with the drama case in point this episode with Veronica refusing to break the news of his daughters death to Abel and then the whole inevitable Logan vs. Weevil showdown.

Only weak link in my eyes is Teddy Dunn's Duncan Kane. In my opinion the combination of the guys acting and character are just to boring to continually feature week in and week out, although the whole interaction with Veronica following the Duncan/Logan roomie situation atleast sounds promising. As long as this show continues to star Kristen Bell that all the women I really need.

okay, so it looks pretty and all . . .

    by bebop_chick

well, that's an understatement. It looks mighty damn gorgeous in that evil, sneaky, underhanded teaser-ish sort of way. That wasn't my fear . . . the look was inevitably going to be stunning, inimitable, maybe even the stuff of nightmares beyond anything we could have imagined. Following this with such anticipation for so long, my fear has always been that, after all of this, does Aronofsky still have the balls to truly mind fuck us? With all of its potential for excellence, and the production hell it was forced to endure, this picture deserves nothing less than to take every viewer's mental processes and turn them into transitory mush. I miss having movies truly screw with our heads to the point that we come out . . . changed . . . in the way that his previous two films did oh-so-subtly. Please do not disappoint Mr. Aronofsky . . . we need this.

I think what you're supposed to e focused on isn't the seat padding (which kinda looks like a rat -- got the still frame up right now) but the well-lit strand of tape that would have been attached to the seat in the foreground....as if to hold an explosive in place. Very fun episode tonight; kinda surprised they didn't drag out the election longer though. Also kinda surprised there was no Alicia Fennell sighting / expository considering her son is in Chi-town with ex-druggie dad. Clarence / Veronica was an interesting tag-team, and a stroke of genius to have them working together on a case. The one thing I didn't like was that Logan is apparently being re-charged with the crime he was already in court for (can't remember if it was a mistrial or if any double jeopardy would kick in). Still waiting to see whether Mrs. Casablancas has access to the offshore accounts, or how long it takes her to turn pleasure into business (Logan).

    Double Jeopardy

    by kdoc13

I think the charges against Logan were originally dropped, not dismissed. If they were dismissed, then there would be the question of whether they were dismissed with prejudice or not. If they were simply dropped, then as long as the speedy trial provision hasn't run (See your state statutes on what the run is for a felony 1 charge I am guessing 1 year is about right) then Logan can be re-charged with the same criminal offense. If they were dismissed??? Well, we need not get into that here. Needless to say, I don't think the writers are law scholars, and I can't remember what happened in the season opener, so I am going to go out on a limb and say charges were initially dropped. That would be my guess anyway.

    Why the hate?

    by holly_wight

Herc covered it. Everything he does is Whedon-centric. It's fucking annoying, and cultish, and just a bit sick. This is Ain't It Cool News, not Ain't It Whedon News, and by the way- Whedon ain't cool. He's overrated. When the bimbos who dig his junk grow a few more inches, they'll look back and think of Whedon the same way I think of Sid & Marty Krofft: Producers of half-assed, complete and utter crap that got WAY more attention than deserved. After the browncoat assault, I'm so fucking sick of Whedon news, Whedon references, and Buffyverse bullshit that I could shit a block of pure, black hate for Whedon and his cult of scooby numbskulls. Besides, Herc only does this because he knows it gets high talkback numbers, and he gets paid by the talkback.

    by pfizzle

It's not like Herc is making shit up here. Whedon's character being on the show may be insignificant, but the fact that he went on the show isn't - regardless of whether or not you give a rats ass about the man. Not to mention tonight's episode was packed with information, so had the title had anything else relevant to the episode it probably would have been a spoiler. Get over your fucking selves, the sheer number of posts on this site that make zero mention of Whedon are staggering by comparison. Take a look at the main page; how many posts are about anything Whedon related? Shut the fuck up.

They really have ratcheted it up from the get-go this year. And the number of set-ups for things to come is insane. If they really do know exactly where they're going with all this and manage to keep up this pace AND actually weave everything together nice n' tidy without plotholes you could drive a bus through (sorry), then this could be the best season of any show in quite a while.

    by drath

Was it just me, or was her "death" never actually confirmed. And if it was, did we know for sure the guy in Vegas killed her, or that Clarence Weidman is going to make sure he gets what's coming to him? I found this one very unresolved, but I don't know how that'll matter later if Abel Koontz is dying now. ************ You know I really liked it better when Logan and Weevil had that strange not-quite friendship growing. I like that Logan is out of a house now, but I don't like where we've left Weevil, paritcularly if we don't find out what he's doing next week. ************ I agree, Wallace's new bitchy girlfriend must DIE. Of course if Wallace has any sense he'll be mad at her and not Veronica. **************** I don't like the way the Casablancases are apparently unchanged (shouldn't their accounts be frozen?). I hope that was an act and Dick is planning on stabbing Logan in the back somehow. **************** Dang, so Aaron might NOT be Lily's killer afterall? That would suck, as we've had closure with Lily's spirit and I really wanted to leave that damned mystery behind.

This ep was great. Chock-full as usual. I thought the rat had been blown apart (hence it "seeing" God), and the whole Logan/Weevil thing ratchets things up even more. Something real bad is gonna go down between them. How come Logan doesn't rub it in Weevil's face that he KNOCKED HIM OUT on the bridge? I would never let someone forget that. And yeah, agree that Duncan needs something to do. He's too "Riley Finn" for me right now. Take that, Buffy-bashers! btw, has anyone emailed Veronica, now that her email address is public domain?
