Learn Who Checks Into THE WEST WING's Santos Campaign Tonight!!

Published at:  Oct 30, 2005 4:33:40 PM CST

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

I like the revolving-door cast on “The West Wing,” but it sure is confusing!

I think Janel Moloney appeared in only one episode this season, so Josh Lyman could refuse to hire his old assistant, Donatella Moss, when she came begging for a job on the Santos campaign.

I noticed Maloney wasn’t in the opening titles last week, so I figured Donna was gone for good.

But no so much! Apparently, the Janeane Garofalo character tonight goes over Josh’s head and hires Donna anyway.

Next week brings the live-debate episode. That is to say, it depicts a live debate between Sen. Vinick and Rep. Santos, and NBC is broadcasting it live.

Last week brought us something I’d thought we’d never see again: a strong episode of “West Wing” set primariy within the Bartlet White House. (It helped enormously of course that the tirelessly watchable Oliver Platt, as Tobey’s newly-appointed adversary, had so much to do.)

Still, I say again: The opening minutes of the season opener, set three years hence and depicting Tobey as a free man on friendly terms with Jed Bartlet, continues to suck a lot of the dramatic tension out of Mr. Ziegler’s plight.

On a completely unrelated note, I just want to point out that a new episode of “Rome” is finally colorcast tonight, the first since Titus Pullo knocked up Caesar’s girlfriend!

“The West Wing”: 8 p.m. Sunday. NBC.

“Rome”: 9 p.m. Sunday. HBO.

Glad to have her back. Now, if we can only bring back Leo's Daughter and Aaron Sorkin.

is a pretend term I use because I cannot figure out if "Rome" is cablecast, satcast or broadcast.

    And...

    by sherman_lives

Sam Seaborn as Santos' Communications Director! Come on, Lowe, what else are ya doing, curing cancer? Maybe (MAYBE) bring back Mandy, just so Herc's disappointment in not seeing her in the 3-years-later flash will have an explanation: she and Sam were in the limos with Josh, Leo, and the President!

    DVDs ruin it

    by wolverine's dad

I wasn't hating this season until I got the first two season DVD sets on the cheap a couple weeks ago. After rewatching the entire first season the new episodes are painful.

The Coolest Way to End W W would be....

    by slder78

At Bartlet's last state of the union a sniper attempts to shoot him, but misses the first shot and Bartlet holds a baby as a human shield. The secret service takes out the sniper who is revealed to be Johnny played by Anthony Michael Hall (or Christopher Walken) Bartlet screams, "WHY?!" Johnny just smiles and dies.

Just then Kiefer Sutherland bursts through the door sees what has happened and yells, "DAMN IT!"

Cut to Black with the time overlayed reading 8:59:59 ticking to 9:00:00 ugh plop ughplop.

    Best Series Finale EVER.

that second paragraph? "only appeared in only one", "could refuse hire his old assistant"? Were you in a hurry or something?

Therefore, Santos is going to dies as as a martyr after being inaugurated by having a airplane fall on him or some such. The show will end with Leo as president.

    Ah Rome...

    by el fuego

A bunch of friends and I catch Rome together when it's on... Pullo and Cleopatra getting it on elicited roars of approval from us all. More sex, more violence, and more politicking than any other show out there... it's fucking great.

    Opening sequences this season

    by doc holidae

The actors listed in the opening sequeneces this season by and large reflect only the actors in that particular episode (with the exception of Martin Sheen, which, I believe didn't appear in an episode for the first time EVER.) For instance, this week Janel Maloney appears in the credits, last week she did not. Also it pisses me off the way they're treating Tobey's character. Big whoop! You can rip storylines from the headlines! That's never been done before. Terrible way to handle a character that has been such an intergral part of the series. Oh, and bring back Sorkin! Ainsley Hayes I want you to have my baby!

    Outcasts, wormcasts and plastercasts

    by seepgood

If you insist on being too pedantic to say "broadcast", why not just say "aired", or "screened", or "transmitted"? Or something else that actually falls within the parameters of the English language?

    God, I loathe Donna.

    by annoyyou

Jeebus, it was so nice not to have her whiny voice sullying up the show (not to mention her beyond-coy line readings with Whitford). Maloney is such a one-note actress she totally drags every scene she's in down. I couldn't watch last night's episode because she's rejoined the cast, and now that I'll have to see Donna and Josh's ridiculous will they/won't they crap I'll have to stop watching altogether. And just when it was getting good, too. Crap.
