Want to help Albert Brooks LOOK FOR COMEDY IN THE MUSLIM WORLD? Trailer here!

Published at:  Oct 26, 2005 2:02:40 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the trailer for Albert Brooks' newest flick, LOOKING FOR COMEDY IN THE MUSLIM WORLD. We've gotten a couple really glowing reviews for this flick, but even if we hadn't I'd still be anticipating this one. Sure, Brooks isn't 100% dependable, but when he hits he hits really damn good. The trailer feels a little awkward to me, but I love that last exchange. I hope he rocks the house with this flick. Enjoy the trailer!

Brooks has done some classic stuff, but I dunno about this one. And he's got that creepy old-man-with-impossible-hair look going on.

I mean, Bush had friggin' ad people trying to figure out how to 'sell' the US to the Muslim world. That didn't work, so he has his whitebread Texas flunky Karen Hughes working on it now.

    by ali786

A protestant irishman is walking down a street in Belfast one evening and before he knows it he's pulled into a side-alley by a masked guy with a gun.

The masked guy whispers "Are you catholic or protestant?"

The protestant doesn't know how to answer this, if he picks either one the masked guy may well shoot him because of it; so he thinks quickly and replies cleverly:

    "I'm Jewish!"

The masked guy with the gun is silent for a few seconds and then laughs: "I must be the luckiest Arab in Belfast!"

Also, the botox and the rest of the work on his face is making him devoid of any expression. It's distracting.

Hindu 80.5%, Muslim 13.4%, Christian 2.3%, Sikh 1.9%, other 1.8%, unspecified 0.1% (2001 census) is the make up of India's religious beliefs. Maybe Im missing a plot hole here but are they not in this film trying to find comedy "in the muslim world?". I know to many folk of Indian origin that being called a "paki" is worse than being called mostly any other name because a majority of indians cannot stand muslims. But then again maybe its something I didnt see in the trailer and they are in india for the reason to get into the predominantly muslim pakistan

I would guess that there are more Muslims in the northwestern part of India, anyway, near Pakistan. Maybe that's where he's going.

    by citizen arcane

..or am I just a smarmy pretentious prick and my life is an Albert Brooks film? I just blew my mind. No, I just blew myself, which is exactly what Albert Brooks would do were he in my place. That's deep. No it isn't. It's self involved bullsit. This post is unfinished. I'll get back to you.

funny, but inaccurate. whatever else you could say about albert brooks' films -- and i'd say the self-involved characters he plays and their foibles are 50% of the point he attempts to get across in his films, esp. the hysterical, and disturbingly prescient for these reality tv times, _real life_ -- they're far from unfinished. take it from one o.g. smarmy pretentious prick, bitz. for a moment -- only for a moment, and the moment's gone, just like in a kansas song -- like around 1985 or whenever _lost in america_ was made, mr. brooks was one of the most important american filmmakers. now, not so much. yet, as i've opined previously, with the title alone here, mr. brooks re-ascends to greatness. sure hope the film rises to the occasion of its brilliant title.

I just thinks it's refreshing to see a comedy that make you feel as if you are better, or at least enlightened, person having seen it. This is what Albert Brooks is best at... WHEN he does it right. Seems to me that he's back to his old self once again.

just be glad he's still making movies... I recently watched Lost In America again (for probably the 20th time, give or take). That movie never fails to amuse and amaze me. ("The Desert Inn has heart... The Desert Inn has heart...") - - and when oh when will we get Modern Romance on DVD?? Mother also is a fantastic later-period Brooks movie. The Muse was flawed, but still great. (Scorcese's cameo stole that show. Wow. A caffeinated Scorcese!) - - "You're all running around like a bunch of weasels!"
