Contest!!BUFFY Cutie Amber Benson Wants To Judge You, Then Chat You Up!!

I am – Hercules!!

Will she command the perch in Smallville Lake to attack puny Kal-El?

Oops, wrong post!!

Here’s the short version:

The AICN address to which you can send entries is

If you win the AICN contest? My friends, extra-dreamy filmmaker-author-actress Amber Benson and prolific not-as-attractive novelist Christopher Golden, will autograph a free copy of their new book for you.

If you win the overall contest? T-shirt!! Plus? The insanely adorable Amber will phone you and coo at you for 10 minutes if you’re not super-rude or super-creepy. And if you prove super-charming? Rumor has it she could hang on for as long as 11, 12 or even 12.5 minutes!! Adam Busch will never know what hit him!

I think I got that right. If not? The long, official version:

Here it is, folks, the Official Ghosts of Albion Suggest-a-Ghost Contest!

To celebrate the release of the first full-length GHOSTS OF ALBION novel, ACCURSED, we have created a simple contest, with an opportunity for those who enter to win a FREE AUTOGRAPHED COPY, signed by both authors and inscribed to the winners. And, yes, there will be multiple winners.

Our partners in this contest are,, The Cemetery Dance Insider newsletter available through and Brian Freeman's Stephen King Newsletter, which you can sign up for at

One winner will be chosen from each of those sites, and TWO winners will be chosen from entries made through Each of those SIX winners will receive a free, personalized, autographed copy of the book. From those six, an overall winner will be chosen to also receive a free GHOSTS OF ALBION t-shirt, and a phone call from Amber Benson.

So what do you have to do? It’s simple, really. Suggest a figure from British history to be a ghost in a future Ghosts of Albion story. Your choice may be anyone who was British by birth or citizenship, who was famous or infamous enough for there to be at least some historical background available, and who died PRIOR to 1840. Please note the name of the deceased, the years of their birth and death, and, very briefly, your reasoning why you think that person would make an excellent choice for inclusion in GHOSTS OF ALBION. Also include your name.

Please note, only one ghost suggestion per person, PER SITE. That means you can enter once at each of the contest partner sites as well (with DIFFERENT SUGGESTIONS, of course). No one will win more than once. If the same person were to win at two different sites, the best of the two suggestions would count and the other would be disqualified. But entering different suggestions at the different sites gives you additional chances to win.

Amber and Chris will choose the suggestions they like best from each contest partner, and TWO from Of the final six, they will choose their absolute favorite to be the overall winner.

The contest begins on Thursday, October 20th, and entries will be accepted through Halloween—Monday, October 31st.

Meanwhile, don’t forget that GHOSTS OF ALBION: ACCURSED goes on sale Wednesday, October 25th. Pick it up for Halloween! And don’t forget that the prologue and first eight chapters are being serialized right now at Drop by for a taste.

GHOSTS OF ALBION. Darkness is Their Inheritance

**Fine print: winning suggestions may or may not actually be used in future Ghosts of Albion stories.
**Advice: don’t suggest King Arthur. Ain’t gonna happen.

Chris adds this:

If you want, you can also mention that anyone who orders the book from between now and November 1st will get it signed by Amber and myself at no additional cost.

Sweet! As the idiot who engineered the “Lost” haiku contest? Which garnered more than 120,000 entries? I can tell you poor Amber and Chris are in for a world of judging pain.

What I wish Herc would do is go into

    by spike fan

greater detail about this Spike movie thats been talked about. I mean where would it be set??? What would the story be about??? Would there be charachter devolpment??? These questions are begging to be awnsered and I I have read an interview with Masters where he says he will only come back if the charachter goes on a journey and pyschologicaly is different at the end from where he started. Cannot blame him for that. Now I know this Amber Benson stuff is great an everything but surely some of these questions can be awnsered by Whedon and co with out giving everything away.

While I find Amber Benson super-cute and everything.....

    by MattCG

...I can't think of anything sadder than having to win a contest just to get a girl to fucking call you. Well, actually I can and it involves crying in a closet, alone on Saturday night with a RealDoll, which is what a lot of guys who would enter this contest do every week.

    Can I write my submission

    by Itchy

on my penis with small dots of ink, and ask her to read it with her mouth ? That would be cool. And stoned-looking chicks are hot ... now that you mention it, Michelle Trachtenberg looked pretty baked half the time too. Maybe a little herbal essence on the set ?

equal oppurtunity man, I am so limited in todays hostile envirornment just cause I happen to be a little super rude and super creepy. This is an outrage, I demand legislation... and since when is asking every girl you see if they have a sister or some single friends creepy?

    by RaylanGivens

I always thought she was cute on Buffy, but overshadowed by SMG, Emma Caulfield and the others (except the musical episode - she pretty much stole that). Anyway I passed by her at Wizard World in Chicago a couple years back and I gotta say, the girl looked pretty damn adorable.

  • Oct. 20, 2005, 11:26 a.m. CST

Jesus, Benson should qualify for a medal for this...

    by Uncooked_Meat

... having to deal with some awkward psycho geek (even on the phone) who rambles and stutters about Buffy inconsistencies while violently masturbating... that's just too much for any girl to have to deal with.

You know who's hot? Episode III is hot. It is the hot chick of movies.

    The funny thing about Amber?

    by Hercules

Meet her in real life, and discover she's TINY. Maybe 109 lbs. It's just that Alyson Hannigan is, rather improbably, even smaller. And SMGellar even smaller than that. Tiny people on that show. *** Angel's cast is just the opposite. Alexis Denisof and Amy Acker are both shockingly tall.

  • Oct. 20, 2005, 3:25 p.m. CST

    Speaking of Acker

    by Gheorghe Zamfir

surprised there was no mention of her showing up on Alias last week, or was there? I only caught it on the off chance channel skipping my way through.

    by jim

I think she will be a recurring character this year on Alias. I'm sure I heard it somewhere because it wasn't a huge surprise to me when I saw her (or maybe because I had just seen her a few weeks earlier on Supernatural).

  • Oct. 20, 2005, 3:42 p.m. CST

Herc is right about small actresses on Buffy...

    by Mace13

I met Claire Kramer(sp?) who played the villian Glory on Buffy at a convention last year here in Ohio. She's also very adorable by the way. ;D Anyway, in the show she looked much bigger than SMG. So I was expecting to meet a pretty tall gal. I called that one wrong. I was at least a foot taller than her. Granted i'm 6'1" but she had to have only been around 5 foot if that. I was thinking afterwards that SMG must be damn close to dwarf sized if Claire towering over her on the show..

  • Oct. 20, 2005, 6:11 p.m. CST

    Another funny thing about Amber?

    by Logo Lou

Yes, tiny, also, met her at a convention signing once... and she was very nice, very polite, and very HIGH. I thought it was cool, I wouldn't want to meet fan freaks like myself sober either.

    Amber and Supernightstalker

    by oisin5199

If I had my choice of any of the Buffy/Angel cast to hang out with -it would definitely be Amber (and probably Seth Green - could you imagine passing the bowl with the two of them? Fun! Willow sure could pick 'em). As far as those two warmed over X-Files ripoffs, I've been watching both and their quality has seriously varied. I haven't seen the most recent NS, but I really liked the second episode with the guy controlling people from prison. A nice combination of intrigue, creepy and personal stuff with both main characters. The other 2 episodes were meh. I like the digital video aspect and the atmosphere - the writing's just weak so far. Supernatural, of course, is more WB-esque. Though I like that they use 70s rock music instead of the usual WB crap. This week's Skinwalker ep made absolutely no sense. It started out good but logic went right out the window towards the end. The creature disguised as Dean tortures the girl, gets away from the cops and then goes back to kidnap her and drag hers into the sewer as she was walking home (from where?) And when the real Dean rescues her in the sewer, she doesn't react at all even though this was the face of her torturer? Sure by this point she knew the thing was a shapeshifter but wouldn't she at least flinch a little? Or how would she know this is the real Dean? And Sam was stopped by the cops after they see him helping Dean escape and the next scene he's fine with no mention of the problem. WTF? Anyway, I thought the Bloody Mary episode was one of the best, even though there was a definite Ring ripoff. Both of these shows have potential, especially if their story arcs pay off at all, though given the X-Files track record, I have less confidence in Spotnitz on Night Stalker.

You are right about that last episode of SUPERNATURAL. The illogical Dean/Girl/Dean/Girl switcharoo made my head hurt. And I had to imagine the girl was walking home from the police department... alone? She was just smacked around, tied to a chair and threatened with a knife by a guy who was still on the loose and they let her mosey on home at night by herself. Uh-uh. Other than that glaring loophole, I've been kind of enjoying SUPERNATURAL. NIGHTSTALKER is servicable enough, but it doesn't have anything to distinguish from other shows of this kind... not even a seersucker suit.

  • Oct. 22, 2005, 11:15 a.m. CST

Check her out at IMDB, really not bad at all

    by SickPuppy

She appears in photos from a time span of several years, and she definitely has had some weight fluctuation, but actually what I would call hot in some of them. Except the ones where she didn't wear make-up, but that is true of lots of women.

  • Oct. 22, 2005, 11:16 a.m. CST

Oh, if you win, don't check out the photos

    by SickPuppy

Because she is probably better than most geeks could ever imagine, and that will just lead to 10 minutes of heavy breathing, stuttering and total embarassment. Wait, a typical geek date. Never mind.
