AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE movie coming in March?!?!?

Published at:  Oct 14, 2005 8:39:23 AM CDT

Hey folks, Harry here with news from a MC Chris appearance where he stated that the AQUA TEEN HUNGER FORCE movie would be assaulting our local theaters in March of 2006. I am left wondering if at theaters - if they'll serve chocolate covered chocolate gumdrops and fuzzy gum drops bears. Will we have the option to eat Meatballs and have fries and a shake while watching? Probably at the Drafthouse, but not everywhere else, sniffle. Here ya go...

Hey guys,

I dunno if this has already been put out there or not, but I figured it was worth mentioning.
mc chris was in town last night as part of his Revenge of the Nerd tour Naturally the
subject of ATHF was brought to attention, especially since it's a college town. He first
started out by announcing that new episodes will start in December. He then plugged a
new series of ATHF figures coming out sometime after that, one of which naturally had
MC Peepants in it. The big news, at least to me anyway, was that the movie is due to hit
in March of next year. He didn't go into anything more specific concerning a the movie
other than that he's in it, but this is the first I've heard of an actual release date. As a plug
for chris himself, since the more exposure the better, y'all should check out
mcchris.com. You can download an entire album for free, which includes Fett Vette.

Thanks for reading.

...concerning the relative merits of an ATHF movie, seeing as how I stayed home sick from work yesterday and watched all three seasons on DVD back-to-back (something I've done twice now). This show has given me some of my deepest, most midless laughs in recent memory and I will forever be grateful. The movie should really just be that one episode where all the villains get together to destroy the Aqua Teens, but expanded to show individual attempts by each villain and some sort of running Carl sub-plot. And they need to bring back Dr. Weird. And that Japanese peeing thing with all the eyes. "What knifey say?" God, I love this show. "I rule you!"

Am I missing something? Where does it say "in theaters"?

    by damitol

This has to be a straight to DVD movie ala "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story". I'm not dismissing it, I love the Force, but I can't beleive the fan base could support a full blown theatrical movie. On the other hand, 90 minutes of Flash animation will cost $37 to produce and can pay for itself with three good showings - but I'm still betting it's DVD only. That said - I'll be there (be it theater or Best Buy) day and date, and I really hope we get some origin story. I want to know why Hard Drinkin' Lincoln invented space travel just to send the ATHF to the moon - and why none of that is ever mentioned in any of the history books, biographies or PBS shows on him.

...there have been subtle hints dropped throughout the series (well, as subtle as anything in that series has been) that Frylock might be gay. If he were revealed to be a woman, however, that would suck because in the Frat Aliens episode he clearly protested that drunken assumption and insistently asserted his masculinity.

    by tempusfugitive

Well, I'd GUESS that DVD would make more sense. I mean, is there REALLY a large enough market for an ATHF picture on the big screen? I'll see it in either case. And new episodes in December? Hadn't heard that... and there was much rejoicing.

    by montypigeon

I wouldn't expect a theatrical release for this. DVD is the way to go for the Hunger Force, forget the cinema. No cartoon matches this for its originality today. So many villians of such crapness that its a must. Who cares about any other film? This is the Must See of 2006.

If it was a completely different film than the cinema version. Lucas failed with all three films and gave us some of the worst films in cinema history. All 3 were a complete waste of time and the SFX and money put into them could have made a great trilogy. Instead we get 1 film for babies, 1 film to put you to sleep and 1 film that has the most evil villian in history sound like an idiot. Star Wars died with Phantom Menace and has never come back.

All ATHF fans should go out and by the collaboration from Gorillaz members Danger Mouse and MF Doom, which also has Aqua Teen Hunger Force characters guesting on almost all of the songs/skits. by doom ii

It has its moments, but I showed a couple episodes to a friend who had never seen it before and I was almost embarassed. There were maybe 4 "snicker-out-loud" things in 2 episodes and it is pretty weak compared to Family Guy, Venture Bros and even Sealab. Just an opinion. BTW, I have watched the entire aeason 1 box set and most of season 2 and my overall opinion is still...not so funny. At least I tried.

Simpsons=funny. South Park=very funny. Sponge Bob=funny. Space Ghost Coast to Coast=funny. ATHF is just not funny-its a funny concept, but thats as far as they could get it. OK, I get it already, the milk shake, meatball and french fries are funny ideas for characters. Now, write some decent material or stick a fork in it already.

And The Simpsons has gone downhill for years now. Sealab without Murphy is Bond without Bond. Seasons 3 & 4 of ATHF stand right up there with Sealab, early Simpsons and South Park. If Sealab still had Harry Goz then there would be no cartoon on earth that could touch it. Venture Bros season 2 better come quickly, I cant take much more of these piss poor Simpsons episodes anymore. Long live Captain Murphy and Sealabia while I hold my middle finger up to Pod Six.

    by childe roland

...but ATHF late season 2 and all of Seasons 3 & 4 really is on par. And whoever held up the Simpsons=funny example must be thinking about ten years ago. They haven't been but mildly (and rarely) amusing since. And South Park's been relatively flat since the Japanese Warriors episode. The only cartoon show I'd probably switch channels to from ATHF reruns would be new Family Guy (but those episodes, good as they are, don't have the rewatchability of ATHF) or new Venture Brothers, whenever they get around to releasing those. But those air on the same network at different times, so I don't even have to choose.

These poor fuckheads are sitting around watching "The Shitsuckin' Family Guy" thinking it's just SO FUNNY!! But woe unto them. Woe. Here's EVERY "Family Guy" episode: "Hey, Peter, remember that one time when you were a character in some obscure 80's TV show/movie?" (CUT TO PETER IN "TRON" OR "THREE'S COMPANY" OR "LOGAN'S RUN". END GAG WITH A FAT JOKE.) "Yeah, that reminds me of the time when we were making fun of some disabled celebrity." (CUT TO SOME JOKE INVOLVING, LIKE, CHRISTOPHER REEVE OR HELEN KELLER. HELEN KELLER, FOR CHRISSAKES.) People give "Family Guy" a bunch of shit for ripping off "The Simpsons," but that's not a fair asessment. They're TRYING to rip off "South Park MUCH harder.
