Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with one of those promotional clip thingies for SAW 2. I'm a big fan of the original film. It wasn't perfect, but I think it's come the closest to capturing that Asian horror edge without just ripping it off. I'm hoping SAW 2 is a fun flick, not a cash-in turd. Can't wait to see it to figure out which one it is! The clip doesn't really give me any clue one way or the other. Enjoy the couple minutes!

The hate towards Saw? You have a movie with excellent gore, a decent storyline and one hell of a creative 'killer'... and yet it gets bagged. Yes the acting was atrocious in parts, Danny Glovers character really didn't need to be in it at all etc etc, but overall, a decent very very low budget movie.
Saw 2? Im unsure... the clip was interesting but it really is coming across as 'quick cash-in before the shock of the first fades', much like Blair Witch 2 was. I'll see it, but I don't expect anything from it. -
They just didn't give a shit. It stole the style of much better films, recycled it, and spit it back out with a shitty storyline. The acting was terrible in quite a few moments, and that's enough to warrant a shit review in the first place. The gore wasn't really all that well done. Worst of all, it wasn't scary in any way/shape/form. It just ambled along, throwing hundreds of twists, over and over again, manipulating in the most condescending way, and finally throwing us 90 flashbacks towards the end to EXPLAIN how sound the logic was. Even though it wasn't really sound at all, unless illogical things are logical. It might be in there world. But this Saw 2 was obviously written on the fly, filmed at the same pace, and released without a second thought. It's not like you can IMPROVE on the plot of the first, since there's no way to make it classy, or scary, or interesting at all. So... meh, I'll avoid it. I'm sure plenty of others will.

If it drops the lameass morality angle the first one had, and just goes for the deathtrap gusto, it might be a fun little gore flick. I admit I like the "peephole" gag in that clip. We'll see.

...and he's the one and only reason that every minute I spent watching "Saw" was like a visit to the dentist. If you'd thrown someone with talent in there, it would have been ok. Oh, and I guess a new director would have been nice, since the douche let Cary get away with that laughable, hammy, over-the-top performance

My point is that Surprise is an element essential for enjoying film. Which is why Empire Strikes Back was not called Vader Is Lukes Father, why point me to a link of a film I liked because, it managed to get one over on me at the end, and call it Pop You In The Eye. NO NO NO! And yes the Jedi (Especially Ben) are LYING BASTARDS.

Cary Elwes easily delivered the worst performance by an actor in any film that I have ever seen in my entire life - includng movies starring Keannu Reeves. I couldn't even believe that his character in SAW was a straight married man because he came across as a fat, blubbering, effeminate homosexual (not to suggest that all homosexuals are effeminate... or fat, for that matter). He managed to make every scene that he appeared in unintentionally hilarious - especially the last conversation he has before he crawls away at the end of the film. Dan Aykroyd's SNL character Leonard Pinth Garnell from "Bad Theatre" would be truly proud of his performance.

Wouldn't that be a funny rip off of that Nightmare on Elm Street sequel? If the killer went after the directors for making the shitty versions of him?

I hate gory movies, but cube grabbed me and wouldn't let go. What an amazing concept, and so well done. Then cube 2 was stinkeroo, and this is a ripoff of the great original idea as well. Can anyone tell me, what were the movies that inspired Cube? If they are intelligent, truly scary movies, not just gorefests, I will check them out. thanks!

I'll probably catch it in the theater since I thought the first one was pretty good on DVD. Unlike most of you here, I don't dig to deep in trying to rationalize why a movie is good or why it sucks. You guys are so used to candy coated hollywood crap that you can't accept B movies for what they really are. I thought the clip does show what we can expect, and no it's not a rip off of Cube. Just because they are trapped in a HOUSE with booby traps doesn't make it a top-secret government experiment on test subjects. SAW is about a serial killer who gets his kicks off of creating a stage for murder he doesn't actually commit. That girl that discovered the tape recorder is the same girl from the first film who almost had her head ripped from her jaw. ___KNEEL___

The creators of Saw broke nearly every rule of good film-making. Sometimes that pays off well, but in this case it did not. While I give them great credit for creating suspense, they failed in the area of payoff. The movie was relatively predictable (I had guessed the killer was in the room with them, but I didn't realize he was still alive) and there was zero payoff for the emotional investment they ask the viewer to put into this movie. Every single character we are asked to care about DIES!!! Saw 1 lured people in without knowing what they were getting into, but I don't think Saw 2 will get away with it this time around.

Cube was cool, cube 2 sucked big time Cube Zero wasnt as bad as No2 but not good either (hated HATED the characters), enjoyed Saw somewhat and I gotta admitt that Blair Witch 2 didnt seemed that bad to me, for one thing I liked it more than the original, so what? Anyways, sort of looking forward to this, yes it is a little "cubish" but only because it has mostly one set piece and boobytraps, lets call it a genre, like vampire movies. Saw 2 is a "rooms with deadly traps movie". Gotta love em. Did anyone see mindhunters??? Now there's a crappy "rooms with deadly traps movie".

Then the gun will be empty, and you'll be good to go through the damn door. These movies SUCK if you have a tactical mind, and have had 10 minutes of tactical training. There is also a big effin hole in the door now, so you can peek through it after the gun is empty, and, once through the door, you will have a weapon. Mind you, there may not be bullets in that room, bet on finding them eventually.

Obi Wan lied to Luke to get him to become a Jedi. NOW YOU KNOW IT. BIG FUCKING DEAL. Lucas has stated more than once that the prequels will alter what has become accepted canon with fans, and shed light on motivations, and change how people see Darth Vader. For me, it did this, it ruined the OT in every possible way. None of this changes the fact that Saw 2 wil suck too.

No one cares about Star Wars. That's why Revenge of the Sith ate it at the box office and they'll be lucky if they can give away the dvd when it comes out. Choad. We're just shooting the shit to try to salvage a thread about "Saw 2", which I think has already been released directly to BetaMax.

Or was that the promotional website? Anyway the first was one far from perfect, and a little insane, but at least it was creative and I'd have to say I didn't see the ending coming. Apparently this one has Donnie Wahlberg as our detective and Shawnee Smith reprising her junkie role. I'm not sure what either of these things should mean but I thought that was interesting.

So a sick elderly man has the time to set up all these elaborate traps, lure people into them, run around in a cape with a knife attached to his arm, booby trap everything, set up complicated series of kidnappings that are all dependent on each other and manages to never get caught.
Oh yeah then he lies motionless for a long period of time, they never notice him breathing or anything.
One of the lamest movies I have seen, the acting was the only decent thing, the two leads did a good job I thought.
It is a sad indicator of how bad movies are these days that this trash could get praised.
When someone tells me they like SAW, I ignore everything else they have to say about movies from that point forward because obviously they have no idea at all what a good movie is. -

I really like the guy pointing out the plot holes in this clip. "Oh, why don't you just shoot the gun 5 more times?". Great. How do you know that's not what they do? How do you know the key even works in the door? I don't know about you, but I have plenty of keys I can shove all the way into the holes, but they won't turn. How about we reserve our judgement of a horribly written movie for when we actually SEE thw writing of the movie?

Hey.. I just saw this trailer and clip for Saw II and it seems to have alot in common with this film Zero:Hour. I saw the clip for Zero:Hour on The Reel Deal here in Austin last week and the trailer sure looks very similar.... After seeing the Zero:hour trailer before seeing the Saw II trailer I was pretty psyched about Zero:Hour!!! I went to the production company website for zero:hour and saw that they are in production now... does anyone know if these two films are aware of each other???
