Wolverine pops up online! Sneaked pics from the set of X3!

Published at:  Sep 13, 2005 4:50:14 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... you know, I have to admit that a part of me was rooting for Brett Ratner to fail with the film since so much seems so wrong up front. But looking at these pictures and just seeing Hugh Jackman with his Wolvie hair and wife-beater... I just want X3 to be good. I want Ratner to pull it off. I love the look of the location and I want Wolverine to be in a good X-MEN movie, dammit! Hopefully this site below will stay up with the onslaught of traffic and, probably, studio lawyers.

with a title like 'CLICK IT HERE AND GO BERSERKER RAGE ALL OVER! DO IT, BUB!" i get all excited and all i get is wolverine in the distance standing in a forest, the pics are as as worthless as the movie is gonna be, the pic went all downhill after singer left. i think i would have maybe liked vaugh's approach after watching the q & a with him on the layer cake dvd but he was too anti-hollywood for the suits to let him handle a franchise like this, im sure they pushed him away. anyway, i hope im wrong and ratner pulls through.

Vaungh "was too anti-hollywood"? He produced 'Snatch' starring brad pitt, he's married to Claudia Schiffer and would seem, would like nothing more than to be a big hollywood director. He left X-Men 3 because he didn't want to be away filming from his wife and family. With a wife like that I don't blame him. It's better than messing around with men in tights for a year.

So happy Vaughn left the project

    by mmm_free_wig

It's a complete and utter BS reason for leaving a project, especially if it's your 'dream' to work in Hollywood. Wanting to be closer to your family sounds all nice, but to walk away from X3, it smells all wrong. He was shit for the project too, he would have turned it into Alien 3. His 'vision' involved using as few special effects as possible, to tell a human story. Fuck off, it's X-men. You don't make a good X-men film by having them sit around and talk about politics and persecution all day. Their powers need to explode in this film. I've had enough of mutants who don't know how to fully realise and command their inner strengths. Unleash that mutant energy it the full spectacular displays that the X-men are capable of.

Cyclops has always been my favorite X-Man, but I haven't been pleased with the movie version. Singer did a good job of portraying Cyclop's love of Jean and his tenuous & combative relationship with Wolverine, but never showed his leadership abilities.

I don't think Ranter's a bad choice of director (probably as good as we were going to get after Singer left. It's not like the A-list were going to be Q'ing up for his leftovers), just worried that he isn't a strong enough character to wrestle the project back from the interfering execs that we're led to believe have taken over. Going to keep fingers crossed for it though...

Cyclops had a couple of issues where he was a badass and really showed some leadership abilities. In fact in the first "Secret Wars" series he friggn' blew a whole side of a mountain apart when he was trapped with a group of other supers underneath the mountain. The fact that he has been portrayed in a non leader type roll in the movies is going to reduce the impact of his "SPOILER"......... death.

Even if this movie ends up sucking major eggs, I hope there are a couple of great scenes with Wolvie. The last two films came through in that regard. "How do I know it's you?" "You're a dick." snatch was not hollywood, it didnt "star" brad pitt, it was more of an ensemble cast with jason statham's character being the center, moron. guy ritchie has even commented that when brad pitt asked to work with him he made sure he gave him a smaller part so it wasnt starring him. and i was just saying thats what i thought he must have left from watching the q&a where he says he didnt want the hollywood ending and made it sound like he didnt like hollywood or LA at all. just like you are putting in your opinion that he left because he wanted to see his wife and kids, since niether of us know him we cant be sure, so stop being such a dick and comment on the pictures or the movie and not me, becuase in the end its my opinion against yours and will never be proven.

Are you guys even comics readers or just casual observers. Wolverine only wears jeans, t-shirts and plaid or lumberjack, or leather jackets. That's the wardrobe, get used to it. Truth be told, I did not care much for the story but it was worth a read. Also, it amazes me people working on sets risk losing their jobs to get photos like these. Wolverine was in the first two movies, played by the same actor. It's not like we are seeing anything all that new. To risk your job just to impress a bunch of anonymous geeks baffles me. Especially since, by reading above, no one was all that impressed. Then again, there is a lot of foliage in the photos. Plant perhaps?

This franchise got lucky as hell with the casting of Jackman. Take him out and neither film is any good. As long as they keep the focus on Wolverine, I see no reason to think X3 will be much better or worse. He's the toughest screen presence since Dirty Harry, which is pretty amazing considering how fey Hugh Jackman is in real life.

Hugh Jackman is all about pussy.

    by i dunno

He has a hot ass wife. And not in a Cruise/Holmes beard type way. So the guy does Broadway musicals. Everyone who does that and works with Bryan Singr doesn't smoke pole. Patrick Stewart is a stage actor and is also in X-Men and I know you're not suggesting that Captain Picard bends over for anyone.

I think the first kid, a boy was from Indonesia or Malaysia. Either he's a poof or he's infertile or she is.

Patience (and the art of movie making)

    by itblowstherobot

If X3 is suffering from anything it's a rushed production. I know that there will be three years between the releases of the films (just like the last time) but I think that Fox should have taken the time to refine the story and get it right. Instead they threw a temper tantrum when Singer decided to go do Superman Returns. It smacks of pettiness and immaturity the way that Fox has been acting, saying that you can't be in Superman and X-Men, etc. etc. etc.

Also, Moviemack, what made you think that Bale missed the mark as Bruce Wayne? I actually thought he got it right, as I had always read Bruce Wayne as a flighty playboy (think John F. Kennedy Junior). I thought that he did a good job.

    by dr rumpledink

Give it a rest, children! It just seems strange to me that if an actor (and one of some merit ie Cruise, Jackman etc.) is good looking, rich, has a nice girl on his arm and stars in a number one blockbuster, you lot think he is gay. He may well be (who gives a fuck) but your obsession with it all is very distrubing.

    Willem Dafoe

    by mosquito march

I like Jackman, but ever since PLATOON, I've wanted to see Willem Dafoe play Wolverine. He's short, he's got those high John Buscema-style cheekbones, he often plays a badass, and he's got a good Logan voice. Imagine him sticking claws in some guy's face and calling him "bub". I also always thought Tom Berenger should have been THE PUNISHER.

    Ratner is a hack, but...

    by mechatruffautmk2

...this material probably directs itself. The characters are there already, the effects are there already, the performances are there already...there's no way they can go wrong with any of those things. Unfortunately, that means at best the story will be yet another retread involving anti-mutation viruses or some bullshit like that, but at least it won't be BAD. I predict the film will turn out to be just ho-hum, which I guess is better than sucking, right? And if that does turn out to be the case, just end the series while there's still some semblence of credibility to it, or else turn it over to a director who will really turn up the volume. They need to stop while they're sort of ahead and nip any future Batman and Robins in the bud before some studio executive suggests adding in Richard Pryor (or his modern equivalent - Chris Rock) or a golden Nuclear Man.

C'mon, Star Wars Ep.III owns I and II.

    by thegreenvortex

But, then, it's really more like Star Wars 6, isn't it? I also think Rocky III is a more entertaining movie than I or II. Maybe X3 needs Mr. T. And what about "Richard III"? I don't know anybody that even saw "Richard" or "Richard II".

Die Hard 3 was decent but not even close to the original

    by i dunno

There are a lot of 3rd installments that are better than the second but usually not as good as the first. Star Trek 3 I guess was marginally better than the first. And of course Jaws: 3D was obviously better than the original. Because like, it was in one more dimension.

My new "pragmatic: attitude is that this cast doesn't really so much need direction as it needs Ratner to put the necessary film in the can for FOX's pissing contest. I suppose that's the only reason I'll see this with any scintilla of hope.
