Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... Now I'm a gonzo crazy HALO fan. I love the world, I love the characters (even the ones lifted straight out of ALIENS) and I love the gameplay, especially in the first game. Despite the critiques of some out there, I believe this could be an amazing movie. I had heard negative things about Alex "28 DAYS LATER" Garland's script from sources in the industry, but reading the story I'm going to link to in a minute on Bungie.net Garland seems to really know what he's doing and has a geniune respect for the game. Of course, having Bungie.net say "Nothing's wrong, this is made for the fans" isn't exactly unbiased, especially since they have a "seat at the creative table." However, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt unless I have any other reason not to.

I'd kill to my hands on the script. I'm dying to know if I can give this project my trust 100% or whether to be scared/pissed at what's going forward. From the thing on Bungie.net it seems they are looking at some top notch directors... Which makes me happy as I know at one point Microsoft was courting Ridley Scott, so if that's the level of director they're going after... well, they certainly aren't bringing in any noObs. Who'd be my pick? I'd say early '80s John Carpenter. hehe

A story also appeared today at Variety announcing officially 20th Century Fox and Universal's team-up on producing the Halo movie. The new info in the story tells us that the current plan is to structure things to make the film the tent-pole movie of 2007 for both studios.

Speaking as a fan of the games (haven't read the books) I'm elated to see the property get such royal treatment. Now I just want to make sure they don't ever show the Master Chief's face, goddamnit!!
