Another reviewer chimes in on Mike Judge's IDIOCRACY... this one wants to set the film on fire...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with another look at Mike Judge's new flick IDIOCRACY. The first review was very complimentary and enjoyed the film a lot. This one didn't and from the sounds of thing he wasn't alone. I really hope this movie isn't a mess. The reshoots and delays make it more than just a possibility, but I have faith in Mike Judge. He hasn't let me down yet, so he's earned my trust. I really don't want to feel like this guy below...
Hey there Quint, been watching the site a long time. I wanted to write about a screening I saw of the new Mike Judge movie a few months ago. I saw the review about it tonight, and noticed there are a lot of people who are excited about this movie as I was. I mean Office Space is one of my favorites. Unfortunately I did not have the experience the other reviewer had.
By now I believe most of you get this gist of the movie, if you don't, just read the last review.
This movie actually started out so promising. Lots of laughs, and we're getting more and more excited to be there. Then it takes a nose dive. And I'm not talking about a slow walk to hell, I'm talking about a double somersault, veritical leap into the deep end, nose dive.
As soon as Luke Wilson's character wakes up in the future this movie becomes awful. It wasn't clever, it wasn't witty, it just wasn't funny. I mean there is only so many times you can make fun of people being stupid, after a while it becomes boring, and repetitive. The last reviewer mentioned some "simple and crass laughs." I would say 90% of the movie is that and basically the same joke over and over again. Its almost the same reason why I hated 3rd Rock from the Sun so much. It was pretty much the same joke every episode.
Not only is it not funny, the acting is atrocious. I'll give it to Mike Judge for trying something completely different for this movie, trying not to copy Office Space, but man, I can't see this movie coming out into theatres, if not just straight to DVD.
I really didn't want to give this movie such a bad review, I didn't, I was so excited to be going, and after it was so bad I honestly thought they might just shelve it for a while, but when I saw the last review on the site I had to say something.
I must also say that I wasn't alone in the audience I was at. People sitting around us were saying things, and not mincing words, about how bad the movie was. People were actually MAD about seeing a movie that was FREE! I hope they did some good reshoots of this movie, because it needed A LOT!
If this is used.....call me DELICIOUS

Did anyone else catch that this guy saw the movie months ago? Maybe Judge has made changes which make the movie much funnier, Hence the positive review. Really, posting a four month old review for a movie thats done tons of reshoots strikes me as kind of dumb. Anyone else agree?
-
still really pumped for this one...I can't believe that judge hasn't done a film since office space...I've loved everything this guys done so I'm assuming it'll still be good
-
sorry BirdMnJr I made the post before I saw yours making my disagree title sound rather stupid....oh well I could of been an even bigger fag and posted First and had it ended up third
-
I won't call the reviewer dumb, but he should have put more stress on the fact he doesn't know what's been done to the movie in the meantime.
-
What a dumb reviewer.
-
That was one of my favorite shows. If you dont get the humor in it, well, I would have to call you dumb.
-
And, yes, children are morons. Still, I have high hopes for the flick. Mike Judge hasn't done anything bad yet.

3rd Rock wasn't very funny and I did "get it".

there's only so much you can fix with reshoots, but a comedy is probably the easiest to fix, since you don't really have to rework the story or remove plot elements or anything, just add some new jokes and hope they work. i don't expect a masterpiece like 'the jerk' but this reviewer could be right on the money about the version HE saw, and yet the FINISHED film could still be really good. oh and btw... goondock, didn't you really mean to say f@g?

hallelujah! speak the truth, brother!

I love Third Rock, I don't trust this guy at all.

After reading this, I finally have the courage to send in my review of Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith. That's right folks, I got an early peek at it about 5 months ago, and I liked it. Seriously, nothing to worry about with this one, it's leagues better than the first two. However, I won't spoil everything here (or even in my review), just wait to hear my final opinion. . . I'll be sending the email now.

I saw Shadow of the Vampire months before it came out and I must say the film was great... but should only be watched back to back with the original Nosferatu... as I did. Peace.

No laughs. The reviewer is right when he says it's the same "duh" joke repeated over and over again. Anybody remember NOTHING BUT TROUBLE?

There's plenty of respectable stuff on tv right now...
by iamnicksaicnsn
Arrested Development, Lost, Smallville, the Daily Show, Conan, um... I guess that's about it actually. I'm probably missing a couple.
-
the seasons are too short and sporadic for me to remember off-hand. Plus, no HBO, so I have to either dl (a hastle) or wait for DVD. And you can't forget all the classic Cartoon Network stuff. Comedy Central stand-up...
-
We've had a decent ping-pong in talk backs tonight, hopefully it can continue tomorrow, as I'm tired as shit and can't find an opossum. Talk to you later, man.
-
He gave no details on the movie whatsoever, and seems to be strangely hitting on Harry... "call me Delicious..." I bet.
-
This is a pretty good time to be a TV viewer, actually. And that's because Battlestar Galactica and Veronica Mars are on. Well, Veronica Mars will be relatively soon.
-
It's obvious... just giving a bad review to cover up his potted nature.
-
like many great novelists, might have only had one truly great film in him (office space). but he does do some other very entertaining stuff (king of the hill, beavis, ect.). office space was pure and simple hilarious truth, so i'll give probably give idiocracy my money, although i know it can't possibly be as good as this summers great ones like stealth or the island.
-
What?!! Please give me a link or something on this. Or was that a joke regarding Pat Robertson's comments?
-
in fact, if anyone else says the movie sucks, I'll burn the place down.. I'll do it too...
