Check out Matt Damon lookin' all spiffy in his cop uniform for THE DEPARTED!

Published at:  Aug 18, 2005 3:22:43 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a series of images from Martin Scorsese's THE DEPARTED, a remake of an absolutely awesome Asian flick called INFERNAL AFFAIRS. In the link below you'll find many images of Matt Damon all dolled up in his copper uniform. The flick is about a cop mole in the mafia's ranks and a mafia mole in the cop's ranks and their hunt for each other while trying to keep their cover on nice and tight. This is hands down one of my most anticipated films. Check out the link!

Scorcese will turn this fantastic film into a slow plodding boring piece of shit, that is shot well and looks great. Forget this rent or buy the Original. Boring, Boring Scorcese.

    Lucius Malfoy

    by wolverines claw

Jason Issacs would be perfect for the role. The guy looks like he's lived a bit. He has the same sort of charisma as Connery - an eye for the ladies but wouldn't be afraid to dish out a slapping if she was out of line. He isn't a pretty boy like McGregor. Connery's bond would have shagged Jinx rigid and spanked her ass as he kicked her out the door. Same with Isaccs. Seriously it's time he had a lead role. He's a good actor when given the right script and he's got the right look and demeanor.

...Scorsese said he's never seen the original - but that pic really evokes it. Really looking forward to this actually, although would have liked DeNiro as one of the mentors.

    NO!

    by ticklemonkey

    Just NO.
Absolutely not. infernal Affairs is the best film, nay, the best piece of ENTERTAINMENT to emerge from Asia in the past two decades. Jack Nicholson is, let's face it, too goddamn limited, old, and lecherous to fill the subtley menacing boots of Eric Tsang. Matt damon and Leonardo Dicaprio are both talented men, bot capable of fine work, yet they haven't got the requisite "lived in" look for a pair of worn down, breaking undercover agents. Where will the sadness in Tony leung's character come form now? What of the existential angst that Andy lau so perfectly inhabits? Gone, gone, gone.
Admittedly i am prejudiced against Scorcese, as the man's only ever made one good film (Bringing Out The Dead is a masterpiece, and i'll fight anyone who disagrees tooth and handbag), yet to p*ss all over a classic like this is unforgivable.
YARRRGH! GEEEKISH RAGE!! (apologies to all Scorcese fans)

    Jack Nicholson

    by danielkurland

Anyone else read those horror stories about Jack Nicholson on the set? He'd re-write his scenes and force Scorsese to shoot them, and he would, just to humour him, but would shoot the real scenes after, and when Nicholson left everyone actually was estatic. A shame that Scorsese finally got to work with Nicholson, and it was bad experience.

    by curryice

I know that Hollywood is exaggerating a bit with their remakes especially of Asian movies recently but i'm actually looking forward to this one 'cause i think it's the right material for a director like Scorsese. And actually an American remake of this kind of film wouldn't hurt.

Yes, it's true. Nicholson forced Scorsese at gunpoint to shoot scenes that he personally scripted. Then on the following day, a bunch of strippers chased DiCaprio down the street. I know it's true because I read it on the internet.

Infernal Affairs and Bringing out the Dead

    by almost sexy

I have to agree that Bringing Out the Dead is one of Scorsese's best works since the 70's. I'm really confused by how wholly overlooked it is: most Scorsese fans don't even seem to remember it. It feels like it could have been the film he did after Taxi Driver or something. I just can't relate to his more recent, "epic/historically significant" type films, and couldn't even drag myself to the Hughes biopic thing. No way will this be as good as Infernal Affairs; Tony Leung owned that movie (which is saying a lot given the rest of the cast). I hope what Mr. Scorsese said was true though, and that this film will be very very different from Affairs (i.e., its own story). Otherwise I don't think it has much hope of coming off as anything but a pale imitation.

    Matt Damon Doll

    by valdemiro

    Doc_Strange,

Matt and Trey have said that the puppets were very expensive and that during the process of making the Matt Damon doll it had an accident. I believe the puppets were all baked or super heated and the Damon doll's head imploded. At first they were pissed but realized he looked mildly retarded. So they just had him say, "Mat DAAAAMON!" They had a whole script for his doll and they actually said that they like Matt Damon, but they couldn't resist doing it.
