    ads and conflict

    by bryan young

Harry has said in the past that he doesn't deal with the ads. He doesn't pick them or read them. It does LOOK like a conflict of interest though, even if it may not be. I saw the soundtrack for six string samauri last weekend at the music store, btw. I realy don't know anything about the movie, so I didn't buy the cd.

    Harry's bias

    by kevin porter

This is in response to the guy who implied Harry was a corporate shill for S3. As far as movie fan's go, I trust just about every bias and opinion Harry has about movies. I've been a regular reader of the site for about a year now, and Harry has always been forthright and honest about his opinions and I'm glad I stumbled across Aint It Cool (during a web search on cult movies). There have been at least 14 movies I've enjoyed and been able to tell friends about becuase of Harry's reporting, and all 14 were right on the money in terms of artistic creativity and geek coolness. IMHO, it's mean-spirited and petty to question Harry judgement, when, after all it's his website. If you don't like Haary's enthusiasm, go do your own website and keep your juvenile jealousies there. Here, we crave coolness, not dipshitness.

    Of Selloutism

    by notfabio

I do so love the endless
    claims of selling out,
    here, there and everywhere.

As far as Harry goes, the
    previous poster is correct,
    JAMISON GOLD handles all
    advertising on the site and
    so long as they're still
    affiliated with it, Harry
    has absolutely no control over
    what gets advertised on his
site. So it really doesn't matter
even if it feels weird or
    otherwise evil, Harry doesn't
    control it whatsoever.

    Did Island Digital or someone
    affiliated see all the glowing
    reviews and coverage and make
    their decison to advertise the
film on this site because of that?
Sure. But if you had a relatively small ad budget for your indie film and needed to make sure you were advertising to a receptive audience in a cost effective way, wouldn't you?

    Hmph

    by michael mcaleese

If Harry being a sellout is proved by the fact the banner ad was for Six String Samurai when you read the article, does the fact that it was an ad for chinos when I read the article disprove it? Or maybe, just maybe, neither one proves anything?

Still waiting for the chino-man movie...

    Defending Harry again...

It wasn't that long ago that I remember reading review after review blasting Burn Hollywood Burn underneath a flashing Burn Hollywood Burn banner....

    Red Elvises

    by scott

If you go to the showing on the 17th, get there a little early. At 6:30 in Virgin Records (which is in the same complex as the Sunset 5), the Red Elvises will be performing songs from the soundtrack.

I posted something on this board a few hours ago and have found that it was swiftly taken down. Is this board being edited now?

    Soundtrack

    by bartelby

I was finally able to find a copy of the SSS soundtrack in stores, voiding having to order it online. I must say that the soundtrack is nothing short of brilliant. If you haven't heard clips from it, you'll have to listen to it a couple of times just to get acquanted with its unique sound. I'm on about my fourth listen now, since I have no desire to listen to any other cd.

    Selling out B Joel style.

    by sean "cookiehead" sheffy

Please don't be sad, Darren Cookiehead. Everyone knows Harry's real crime is poop style color schemes. We are all selling out. Do an "ollie."

    Cheesecock event

    by professor cheesecock

I made a reservation for this so-called event and it seems that even if you make a reservation you still aren't reserved!?!? and letsee.... you MIGHT (BIG MIGHT) get in the fucking screening.

I've never been to a screening/party/benefit/whatever that had this kind of cheesecock policy where you had to send in a fucking check five weeks ahead of time and the rest of the people might get left with their dicks hanging in the wind all kinda West Hollywood. What kind of cheesecocks are running this premiere. Whatever...

    Hey Cheesecock!

    by dan mirvish

Hey, I'm the cheesecock running this event!
Sorry, we're a tiny little festival that can't afford to deal with credit cards. Yes, I know it's a baffling voicemail message. You try organizing one of these fuckin' things (with the theater, the producers, the distributor, the band, the store, the building management, etc.)! In fact, we have sold out of screening tix, but party tix are still available (for $15) and the Red Elvises are FREE! For more info, check out http://www.slamdance.com

    Playing S3 on da radio!

    by miguel

    Started playing the Red Elvises'
"Love Pipe" the very day I received the 7" from the folks at Rykodisc. Not only do I want to see this film even more, bu I want to see if the Red Elvises can
pay a visit to the Northeast and play live on the air up here.

    This movie was awful

    by uncle nutley

It just shows how desperately people are looking for the next great film. This is a seriously flawed movie. And a bad one.

Six Sting Samurai is not worth 4.50

    by john wayne

This isn't even a Matinee. Go see "Pi." Why doesn't Harry hype a movie that has a style which deserves our money, not a smorgasborg of Wizard of Oz and Kurosowass? Pi deserves to be seen. I doubt Six-sting deserves the waste of oxygen to be burned.
