Wanna see that nifty SOUTHLAND TALES storyboard sequence from Comic-Con'

Published at:  Jul 25, 2005 6:57:19 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... I'm still recovering from Comic-Con (I've spent the last day and a half either sleeping or comfy on the couch devouring HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE) and am about to finish off my coverage. All the panels have been reported upon, but I still have about 6 interviews to transcribe about everything from ZATHURA to GHOST RIDER to THE FOG...

We're also having some of the Comic-Con shown footage being released at this time... Harry linked to that STEALTH super-reel thing that is hosted at Apple.com and now we have the SOUTHLAND TALES storyboard sequence I described in my Comic-Con coverage (YOU CAN READ THAT STORY RIGHT HERE!) in all it's bestial glory, thanks to a heads up from Broodwich. I hope this is the beginning of a trend for this year's Comic-Con footage. I want you folks to see the HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE montage as well as that kick-ass SUPERMAN RETURNS reel that Bryan Singer brought. I suspect we may soon see some of that over at BLUE TIGHTS, but don't quote me on that for it's just a guess.

Below is the link that'll take you to the storyboards, but to fill all your Richard Kelly desires, you should also visit Krysta Now's webpage... I believe Krysta Now is the character being played by Sarah Michelle Gellar... I have no idea what the fuck this movie is... at all... but make sure you click on the "Music" tab to see some lyrics for a song created by Ms. Now called TEEN HORNINESS IS NOT A CRIME.

Don't know why it wouldn't be working for you... Maybe try another web browser or give it another click and wait a little longer?

    Blinding Yellow

    by zergxes

I can't see anything now that my retinas are burned out. So yellow, I can feel the burning in my EYES!

I miss the old colors for this site.

I'm not even going to mention the dress there, Harry- because I can't type while huddled in the corner in fetal position.

Weird... Anyway, that link is to my story about the Comic-Con presentation. The link at the bottom of the page is the one that takes you to the actual storyboard presentation. Enjoy!

    Richard Kelly

Through no fault of his own, I'm already sick of Richard Kelly, and he's only made one fucking movie. Fanboy's better stop sucking his dick.

    by dr_dreadlocks

They put people in the nut house for some of the shit Kelly dishes out. I mean his attention to detail is almost psychotic. These websites are growing at an absurd rate. I understand that he's creating his own niche universe... But man, get a fucking hobby.

    by bcfreeb

Wow. What the fuck is this movie? One thing's for sure...Nothing Richard Kelley ever does is going to be anything less than absolutely original. I really want to know as little about this as possible walking in...that's part of what made Donnie Darko so amazing.

Orgies involve more than two people, er

    by the heathen

No Grando, it was just regular car sex. Well, not regular car sex, but sex between two cars. Yeah, that's it. And regular sex involves more than one person btw. Just in case you need to check the facts. As far as the stuff in the slideshow and Krysta Now's website? I like all of these tie-ins that Kelly creates for his films so far. I'm hoping for the best and this seems to be, if nothing else, like something we've never seen before. A sci-fi comedy musical in the future

  • As long as it is suitably indulgent. And those SUV's looked like they were indulging.... or at least one did. SUV rape?

    perhaps

    by the heathen

it was my first time experience viewing of A) car sex, or B) car rape, and C) that was the best "insertion" scene I've witnessed in quite some time (at least with cars, haven't seen one of those in a while though : ) ) And orgy does mean to indulge, but in the sexual sense it also refers to over indulgence, debauchery, and being promiscuous and unrestrained in a sexual manner (ignore spelling errors please). I don't know about you, but if I was unrestrained sexually, I would have to over indulge with more than just one suv.

    I. Am. Hyped. For. This. Movie. And it could very well be the ultimate cult phenomenon of the 21st century. Well, the first, at least. But, what will it be about? I can only say that Kelly and his crew have been brilliant in their build-up to this movie so far. And it has to start shooting yet!

But you should care ken, and yes I've heard of Boondock Sain

    by the heathen

BS's is the unheard of movie that everyone's heard of. Ya gotta love the young Indy Jones and a cross dressing Dafoe! The sequel is in development and Bill Connolly is returning as Il Duce. The DVD of Boondock doesn't work right with my HDTV. It compresses the 1:85 ratio more than it should. I have to turn off my progressive scan on my DVD player to get it to look right aspect wise, but then the quality looks like poo.**** moviemaniac-7 (sooo much better than the regular) I think Kelly's first movie Donnie Darko already is the biggest cult movie of the 21st century so far at least. I'm with you on this new one being extremely creative.

If you likes Boondock Saints, you MUST rent Overnight...

    by doom ii

It's a documentary about how the director/writer of Saints was greeted by Hollywood as the next Tarantino, then his HUGE ego and attitude blacklisted him from ever making another film again. This guy was the next big thing for Miramax (when Harvey Weinstein originally purchased the screenplay). Great story about how not kissing the right asses can get you thrown out of Hollywood faster than a stalker on Madonna's driveway. Boondock saints was eventually made for 1/2 the original budget by a small studio.

It's the first time I've ever seen car sex. But it seems Krysta Now wants to be a combination sex star and cultural critic, judging from the additions to her site. I'd like to see how SMG can pulls this off.

OK, when the fuck does SOUTHLAND TALES start filming?

    by godoffireinhell

Because I've been reading about this film for what must be years now. I'm all for Richard Kelly taking his time if that means he can actually live up to the considerable promise of DONNIE DARKO but c'mon ... I want to see this film before 2010!

What is the fascination with Boondock Saints?

    by fiester

It's just another Pulp Fiction rip off. There are only dozens of them. It's depictions of South Boston and the Irish community there might as well be sci-fi. It's not even remotely like that. Furthermore, there is no significant Russian mob presence in the Boston area. The whole movie is a cartoon. And that's fine. I just cannot fathom the obsession it seems to engender in a select few people.

    color, car sex, and maps

    by capt jack aubrey

hey, i LIKE the new color -- anyone with even a hint of decorating taste and experience can tell you it's NOT "piss yellow" -- this is very clearly "baby shit yellow" -- check your Dutch Boy color palette... the car sex takes me back to watching Pink Floyd The Wall for the first time in high school and thinking "what are those flowers DOING? hey, that looks like... waitaminute, is that a..." and i like the logo at the end of the storyboard "commercial" -- it's that distorted blue state/red state US map from post-election showing population distribution...

    This had better be good.

    by yellowoystercult

It looks promising, but is it wrong to doubt Richard Kelly's ability to pull this off? Seems like a huge project to be taking on. On the other hand, after listening to the commentary on the Donnie Darko Director's Cut DVD, the man does seem to be operating on a level that has surpassed normal men. I'll be reading these graphic novels and seeing the movie either way. Here's hoping he won't go nuts with the websites - I like my movies in the theatre.

    Re; The Heathen

    by moviemaniac-7

Yeah, DD might be the first cult phenomenon of the 21st century, but I'm sure with Southland Tales Kelly will shoot all his talent over the screen. I always had the feeling that Donnie Darko could have been much more and that he had to accomodate too much because of the low budget. Still a masterpiece though, but I think that Donnie Darko and Southland tales will be the same as Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction: The first being an introduction to the coolness and grandness of the other one. At least I hope so. (And from now on, people will start bitching about how cooler Dogs was over Pulp).

Donnie Darko isn't a masterpiece, it was just a pretty damne

    by monkey butler

I would put DD on the same level as Napolean Dynamite - a stupid movie with some very cool/original elements that is popular only because of the geek-chic crowd. Leaving out essential story elements isn't the same as posing questions or making the film open-ended.>>>And Krysta Now's poem? I'm sure lots of people have already noticed this, but I haven't seen it posted anywhere - it's a corruption of TS Eliot's real masterpiece "The Hollow Men". No idea what relevence the poem could have to the film, but it's got me interested.
