Herc Loves Tonight
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
“I’m bigger than you. And I have a gun.”
Tonight’s “Inside,” the seventh and likely last hour to air on Fox, is the one to which Tim Minear’s serial-killer series has been leading.
We might even get to hear these words: “Previously. On ‘The Inside.’”
Virgil Webster? No longer the boss!! No longer a part of the team!! And now Rebecca, Paul, Danny and Melody have to deal with the weird shit out there without him. What will happen?
They will happen upon a man who battles demons. A girl with kaleidoscope eyes. If you watch this episode carefully, you might, as I did, catch yourself moaning, “Oh fuck.”
Thirteen episodes of “The Inside” have been shot, and the 13th sounds even better than the one that airs tonight, but it looks like you’re going to have to buy the DVD to see that 13th episode. Fox is not airing the eighth episode next Wednesday. Instead the netlet is introducing a new series, “So You Think You Can Dance,” starring Los Angeles news anchor Lauren Sanchez.
"Beauty and the Geek Reunion Special": 8 p.m. Wednesday. The WB.
"The Inside": 9 p.m. Wednesday. Fox.

TalkBack screen. Working on a remedy so you don't have this hassle in the
-
overall a disapointing show. It seems like Minear didn't even really care.
-
I gave it a fair chance and it's sucked... Bring on Sci-Fi Fridays!
-
I'll be watching Tour de France highlights tonight...btw, isn't the line supposed to be "the girl with colitis goes by"? ;)
-
and Herc, post some BSG news. Don't start hating on the show like Harry.
-
I actually liked a couple of the episodes that were aired. Lastweeks episode was actually twisted and held my attention. I do agree with Bringing on SciFi Fridays! Can't wait.
-
I've seen 2.1. I'll be posting a review. Maybe tonight.
-
Is a good show and unfortuately so are alot of shows that get cancelled.
-
Either Tim Minear budgeted The Inside like a Ratnerian coke-partying motherfucker or FOX is the most short-sighted network run by John Mayer fans.
-
sorry for being an asshole. I just can't wait for this mother.
-
but thanks for recommending it anyway Herc. I've been following it since the beginning based on your advice. It's not as bad as soem of here say. It's not as great asd you would have us beleive either, but it's a hour of something to watch on hump day. It's at least good to see Baldwin getting some steady work.
-
You're shilling for the dvd set now? No Herc, NO. I am a STRONG, INDEPENDENT woman. You will NOT HIT ME anymore! (sob) Now get out of my house..(sniff)..GET OUT!!
-
She's kinda hot! But, I'm sorry to see "The Inside" go.
-
I'm very sad to see "The Inside" go and I don't want to go into a huge rant about FOX's marketing and scheduling like I have before. However, FOX's site officially states that the Arrested Development season premiere will be on Wednesday September 14th, with every episode airing on Monday alongside Kitchen Confidential and Prison Break.
-
...will miss The Inside. I think it's a solid show with lots of potential. Some eps have been better than others, but last week's back-to-back eps were great, especially Thief of Hearts. FOX drives me absolutely batshit. Seinfeld? pretty weak the first year. Friends? same. Babylon 5? same. Enterprise? same. Give a show a chance to find its footing and it WILL dammit! OK I'm done.
-
...Fux TV
-
..after 5 episodes of mediocrity. I may even pick up the DVD when it comes out.
-
Am I the only one who thinks that the message about using tiny url in the talkback form should have a link so that you can click on it and go to tinyurl.com? If you are worried about people leaving your site and never coming back, there are ways to make a link open in a new window. It's not that hard.
-
if it did I wouldn't put it in my fabulous collection of Kung Fu seasons 1 & 2 / Firefly / Wonderfalls / Dead Like Me / Ghost world & Fast and Furious. Yeah sure that last one is a little out of place, but I think the rest of them say what kind of dvds I buy, and wow the 3 tv dvds that I have from this century I have 2 tim minears and 2 bryan fullers, yet I care not one bit about this stupid show the INside. Stupid cop shows blow. Someday I will add Hercules and the first 2 or 3 seasons of Xena to my collection as well.
-
That black outline thing is killer. Almost caused my eyes to fly clean out of my head and slam directly into the screen causing a severe output of energy likened to Dr. Doom in the new Fantastic Four (2005) movie which I found to be rather "meh" but that doesn't matter because The Inside is on tonight and I'm sure it'll be a demi-rousing end to Minears baby that was pretty much the black sheep from day one which is unfortunate considering the stride it was hitting... That was one hell of a sentence.
-
Will they actually air it? 2 weeks from tonight, they said.
-
In the "Inside" universe, you can get removed from your position, hire a prostitute, go all "Vertigo" on the bitch, very nearly get her killed...and, Hey! Here's your job back, Genius! Thanks for the assist! You da' bomb! I thought last week showed some promise, but we're right back to the same ol' crapola tonight. Yes, I admit there's potential here, but every step forward is followed by two silly-ass steps back.
-
I did actually catch myself saying "oh fuck." Like once, halfway through the show I was like, "Oh fuck, this show fucking sucks." Then a little later I was like, "Oh, fuck, Hercules totally abused my trust." Then at the end, I was totally like, "Oh fuck, I am an hour closer to dying." Awesome show dude. Seriously, what a sweet fucking show. I especially liked the part where they reset to where they were at the very beginning of the series. What an awesome idea. I was so NOT watching to see where the series went. God how relieving to see the show back on track to being just like it was for the first 5 episodes. Those were probably the best things I have ever seen on tv. My favorite part about those first episodes was when I would take a screwdriver and drive it through my eyeball in the first 15 minutes, then slowly turn it around in the socket for the next 45. God bless Herc for recommending this show every single week without fail (and even plugging the dvd!) and God bless the sheer genius of these fine television writers. Also thank God they took out all the hot chick tied up and helpless stuff, that did nothing for me. I mean NOBODY liked that part of the show, so good riddance. I like Rebecca Locke as the vibrant and compelling character she is- I dont need all of these sexual overtones, ok guys? That's not why I watch the show. I watch this show for the fine acting of Rachel Nichols and to see Adam Baldwin underused, because I hate that guy just as much as everybody else, and everyone on that show has way more presence than he does. Man life is so fucking great. FUCK. YOU. HERC. On the plus side I just downloaded and watched the entire season of Battlestar Galactica. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.
-
"Web's faith in Rebecca is tested when he accidentally reads her the wrong fortune cookie, sending her off obsessively trying to prove that a 3 month-old infant named 'Chucky' killed 17 people with a chainsaw."
-
When the show was on Fox. Then the DVD sold a hundredy zillion copies. I'm just sayin'! I'm just sayin' some talkbackers don't know what the fuck they're talking about. Some of them. Not saying which. Good luck to you, wrong-thinking talkbackers. I'm sure you'll go far in your chosen field.
-
I loved Firefly from the get-go. I told everybody I knew. Made my wife watch it, who normally won't watch Sci-Fi, and she loved it. I wouldn't recommend this thing to anybody. I'm just sayin'.
-
I'm glad you like the show. Really. But your credibility is severely damaged when you let the goons who take shots at you personally goad you into taking shots back. Yes, I'm unimpressed with the show, but the fact that you like it doesn't make me necessarily think you 'don't know what the fuck you're talking about'. It's a difference of opinion. Just let it go. It's an Internet whine-site for chrissakes. Of course there's going to be the occasional folk who will take shots at you for recommending something they end up loathing once-in-a-while. Be above it, for heaven's sake.
-
So You Think you Can Dance..... This is what most of you "this show sucks... this show will suck when it airs... this show sucks because you have to pay attention" crowd deserve. Ok, The Inside may not be of Buffy quality (or whatever you consider quality TV), but it's better than the Law and Order network, and at least as good as the CSI network. But you'll all keep bitching until it's gone, along with Alias, and any other series you can't veg out to. Pretty soon you'll all get your six days of reality programming, with one night of Desperate housewives clones, and I'll be forced to watch nothing but FX series and Battlestar Galactica. So thanks everyone for killing The Inside, Angel, Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me, Carnivale, Now and Again, and anything else that resembled smart television.
-
Does anyone have any idea whether that episode with fat-suited Tim Mapother will air, since they are showing at least one more presentation?
-
all 13 are still scheduled to air. As of now. Maintain your Ethan Rom faith.
-
is on the 13th episode. lets hope they make it that far- looked pretty cool on ET.
-
Almost Human did that? Rockin, They always did my fav Buffy and Angel Monsters!
I like this show, I have my fingers crossed.
Why is everyone on here so negative on every topic?
-
Since Fox is kind of giving it a chance. I wonder if it might suffer a late revival if it gets some viewers... Who knows? Stranger things have happened. Although wishful thinking is something I'm known for... Herc, any details? Or is Minear moving on (again)?
-
Not worth getting so riled up over a canellation. It's decent. I enjoy watching it, but won't feel a sense of loss when its gone. To be honest, I'd have expected more from Minear, Fury, and Hatem.
-
The Inside Returns! YAY!!!1
The inside comes with a new episode in two weeks. So I don't know what's happening but maybe fox hasn't cancelled this after all. -
your whiny talkbacks are as much a waste of time as you claim the show to be.
-
It's not so bad as most people say!! It's still one of the best new series on the air this summer.
Can't wait for BSG though..................The best "new" series last year!!!! -
I love the show, it is actually interesting. It is no shitty CSI, or Law & Order where everyone goes home happy at the end of the day. I wish they give this show a chance, but Fox is the worst network. They cancel shows more then any other network. Dark Angel, Tru Calling, John Doe, Firefly. Even worse they move shows around, mess the story up. Does anyone remember what they did to Sliders. I hate Fox, i find a show i like and they cancel it. Why dont they get some more gay American Idol shows, so they can go bust. The guys running fox are a bunch of market S.O.B.S they use opion polls, and ratings to decide the future of a show. I doubt any of the shows on other channels would of survived had they started on Fox.
-
...and post your BSG review I was promised.
-
No nom for Kristen Bell, but one for Patricia Arquette? I saw Medium one time. Arquette acts as if shes falling in and out of sleep.
-
Go lick your balls.
-
and then go fuck yourself.
-
yawn worthy stuff, I'm not going to go saying that Kirsten Bell should take her place among the nominees though.
-
The Coyote character is really getting intruging. Threw me a curve when I thought he was transforming the prostitute into the lead chick, which would have been okay, but it was nice that he was on the job. I think the supporting characters are slowly getting fleshed out as well. All moot points I suppose. I have to say, Fox (and maybe some of you) gave up on this too early.
-
I don't agree with that opinion of that tv show/movie, and since what I think is the absolute truth, the person with that opinion is a worthless idiot. I just lost an hour of my life that I could've spent playing Robotech. But at least by constantly bellyaching about what I hate, I get to show how hip and "above it all" I am.
-
I watched the show last night and thought it was pretty good. The twist with Webb being on the case even when he wasn't was nice, but not nearly shocking in the Earth-shattering way you'd promised. (The only moment of television to really do that to me this year was on Lost, when Charlie was hung by Ethan. In those moments when you don't know if he'll live or die--some of the scariest and most exciting writing all year.) As a HUGE Whedon and Minear fan, I'm still in the disappointed camp about this show. It's pretty good, sure, but I have not been amazed once so far. Good production value and some solid writing, but I'm waiting to see one get knocked out of the park.
-
"My favorite part about those first episodes was when I would take a screwdriver and drive it through my eyeball in the first 15 minutes, then slowly turn it around in the socket for the next 45." If you jammed a screwdriver in your eye during the first episode and you were still stupid enough to come back four more weeks in a row to repeat the experience, it's not Hercules that's to blame for your problems. You must have the IQ of a rutabega.

BTR 1701, you just completely validated my talkbacker impressio
by oceansized
Don't know if it was on purpose or not. But either way, thanks.
-
I felt the same way about "The Inside." Cool show, but not compelling or interesting enough to grab me. I thought Tim Minear could've chosen a more engaging actress for the lead, and also invented a more orginal overall plot. I have a lot of respect for Minear as a writer and director, so maybe this one was just a misstep and he'll get back on track with his next show.
-
I was taken in by the "Webster is turning the hooker into Rebecca" bit as well as the ads leading up this ep which led us to think Web had embraced the dark side. I was actually a little disappointed that that turned out not to be the case. How bold would it have been to have the boss doing some murdering in his free time over the course of the season. Then I would have been even more disappointed at the cancellation. ............. And Oceansized, throw in a witty catchphrase and you've got it.
-
Because it seems to me that taking a more or less innocent hooker and putting her in the path of a "demon-hunting" serial killer doesn't exactly speak to a mind full of sunshine and roses. I think Locke's estimation at the end of the episode was right...Web was more dangerous on the street than he was in the office, because he would have kept on chasing killers even if the FBI had sacked him--and sometimes he doesn't seem to care if innocent people get hurt as a consequence of that quest. Am I completely sold on this show? No. But Peter Coyote is magnificent, as are Adam Baldwin and Jay Harrington, and I was starting to get used to Rachel Nichols. No show with a character like Web can be boring, even in a subpar episode. Over the next few episodes, I think we would have seen more of Web's dark side...which is something I'll be sorry to miss.
-
Don't be sorry as the next new episode is being shown in 2 weeks , as of right now anyway..
-
As of right now, there's another episode in two weeks. As of two weeks from now, I suspect there won't be. We're dealing with Fox here...
-
I'm not sure what you're talking about. YOU SAID, "I don't agree with that opinion of that tv show/movie, and since what I think is the absolute truth, the person with that opinion is a worthless idiot." Well, I said no such thing to the guy. I didn't say his opinion was wrong, nor did I say mine was right. I merely pointed out that he had to be spectacularly stupid to keep coming back over and over to experience something he so clearly did not like from the first episode. Someone once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. YOU SAID: "But at least by constantly bellyaching about what I hate, I get to show how hip and "above it all" I am." Again, I never said anything about my own personal opinion regarding *anything*, nor did I indicate that I was "above it all", so I have no idea why you think I "validated" anything you said.
-
Can't argue with you on that..
-
BTR 1701, relax. Oceansized was trying to make TBB (Talk-Back Buddies)- he was agreeing, not criticizing. On that note, before we have a whole camp of nerdfriends out there, know that Herc's tastes and mine usually align, so I kept believing him that this show was going to grow into something. Check the other talkbacks for this show, and see that I'm not yet openly hostile. But now I fucking am because Herc was fucking FULL OF SHIT. Yes I am angry at Herc. How rational that is I am not really sure, but I cant fucking help it. He is a goddamn liar. Of course, I leave this shit on the field- you won't see a hint of my dorkrage in his other talkbacks, because I am not angry at him over there. Over there he still knows what he's talking about and I have an unhealthy love for him. but in the Insider talkbacks I fucking hate him. Oh and thank you BTR, for letting me know that literally poking my eye out with a screwdriver was stupid. you're right that was SOOO dumb. I wish I had had some kind of communication with you before I did it, so I could have KNOWN. P.S. Herc called me "wrong-thinking talkbacker". That is funny across the board.
-
by the way PVIII is insanely jealous that Herc talked to me.
-
"Oh and thank you BTR, for letting me know that literally poking my eye out with a screwdriver was stupid." Where exactly did I ever use the word "literally"?
-
And yet I keep seeing commercials for next weeks episode, and then one for the week after that, and then one for two weeks after that. Its obvious you cynical fanboys want this show to fail, but you need to get your info correct if you want to retain your already trashed credibility. Simply wishing it was the final episode or wishing that it was cancelled, does not translate very well into reality.
