Man On The Moon - pic
Well this pic came in from TIME magazine, so I guess they did a good job here. Ya know that pic I had up a while back... Well I thought that Carrey looked a lot more Kaufman like... now... well in this pic, I think he's a bit more Carrey-esque. Of course that's who he is. And Milos isn't about getting dead ringers, he's for getting great performances...typically. Well let's keep our fingers crossed.

I find Jim to be a great actor, and this part as andy will make Ace haters change their minds about him.

i agree...jim carrey will do an excellent job. he's turning into a fine little actor who obviously wants to break into the tom hanks realm (with a lot more inherent talent i might add) with this vehicle.
but is it just me or was ed norton BORN to play this role? i mean, he has the same face, the same phsyique, and an uncanny ability to manipulate his body and voice to fit every role he plays. plus, his eyes are on loan from andy himself. i look forward to the project, but can't help but think the studio went for star power over the real deal. i wish jim the best and hope he nails it. -
How bout we have Andy Kaufman play himself. He faked it...you know?
-
Seems to me, if we're going to use people who've faked their own death, we might as well invite Elvis in to try. I rememeber a couple of Taxi episodes where Kaufman was required to sing. Badly of course, and who better than Elvis to sing bad?

I have seen rounders, and am convinced that Ed Norton is the best actor to come along in at least ten years. Interestingly enough, in some press he did for rounders, Ed was talking in his normal speaking voice and he sounded like a girl! Here's a guy who changes his voice CONSTANTLY--every role so far. There's your Kaufman. Carrey's way too over-the-top to play the subtle and enigmatic Andy. As for that other guy's bunghole...time will tell for his career.

I think Jim Carrey will do a fine job in the role of Andy Kaufmann. It isn't the physical resemblance that will do it (face it, there isn't much of a resemblance), it's Carrey's acting ability.
My opinion of Carrey as an actor went up a great deal after I saw The Truman Show. -
I agree about Bill Hicks not being big enough in USA to generate interest but then again Steve Prefontaine did get 2 biopics made for him, although he was an athlete who died young- and you may be right about Bill being unable to be capture in an acting performance, I'd just love to be the guy to make the film, that documentary I saw about him was so interesting I thought his life was so facinating- and his comedy rocks- uh, Pull up G12 :o) dmann

Somebody should put that Donald guy in a movie.
