    Quite often ...

    by shan

... a feature film evolving into a TV Show has a mixed record at best. Are there any examples of managing to get a film cast into at least the early episodes of a series, especially as highly listed as these ones? I know Private Benjamin and Clueless got a lot of the film cast but in both cases, didn't get the film leads.

    hated it

    by demosthenes2

Most overrated stilted to Oscars movie I can think of. Monotonous arguments, debates between stereotypes, no dimension to characters aside from "oh here's his dark side, and oh here's his good side that we don't bother to develop how both these sides can inhabit the same character." Gender roles extremely offensive in particular in the Thandie Newton-Matt Dillon subplot. Forced and overcooked, manipulative. But take the word of someone not so jaded that he can avoid writing in fragments: http://movies2.nytimes.com/2005/05/06/movies/x06cras.html?ex=1120104000&en=383583e2a036b173&ei=5070

  • That Sandra and Brendan have realized that their careers are not that hot anymore? Also will Ludacris stop rapping? And what about Ryan's character, does he get away with what he did. I'd watch a series based on Crash. I thought the film was good and pretty interesting.

    rescue me

    by oisin5199

Just had to get in a comment about Rescue Me, the most brilliant show I never thought I'd like. Dennis Leary is just genius in this - the last scene in the season premiere where he's dowsed himself with vodka and is holding his lighter - amazing. I would never admit I could relate to any of these characters, but deep down... Never saw the non-Cronenberg Crash but if FX can get Glenn Close then I guess these guys might do it.

Please no. And I'll tell you why

    by the heathen

I think Crash is the best movie to come out this year so far. The movie was perfect as a stand alone piece and I feel that any continuation of the characters would lessen the impact the movie had. Amazing movie. I doubt that Oscar Nominee Cheadle could be in any more than a few episodes since he's always so busy if this does get picked up.

Soderbergh's Traffic was based on a British miniseries called Traffik. Then Soderbergh's Traffic inspired a new miniseries that aired a year ago on USA.

I would only watch that if they made it like "Love American Style". Wake me up when there's something worth watching on TV.

A cast like that would do a TV SERIES?

    by supertoyslast

Mini-series maybe, but to get those actors to commit to a series would be incredible. Especially Cheadle - who would star in and direct several episodes? Hard to imagine but it would be interesting. I was already doing the alternative "TV casting" in my head. If Haggis is writing then I'd love to see Paul Gross work with him again. And the original British Traffik was superb.

Loved the movie, so this could be very cool!

    by zardoz

The film was one of the most topical and daring modern examinations of race relations that I have ever seen. I thought it was brutally honest and heartfelt. And it didn't offer any easy answers, either. But how are they gonna afford this cast on TV? Or is it going to be a limited series?

I am waiting to see the damage she will cause the way she "fucked up" the meat industry. How could you not let a Billionaire into your store? Idiots.

    by cornstalkwalker

But, I don't see how you could make it into a tv series.

  • Ok, I love Crash and mildly liked million dollar baby. But, dammit, me no likey TV series. Sure, Crash was episodic in nature, but that's what made it cool and unique. (Screw Magnolia). no TV. No TV!

    crash blows

    by jack d. ripper

This movie was abominably terrible and was nothing more than Z-grade "social commentary" with no story and no character development. They turn this into a TV show and I'm throwing my set out the window, hopefully onto Paul Haggis as he walks past on the street below. Hack.
