THis is great news. I knew they were thinking of a movie and had done a little work on it, but I did not know it was so soon to arrive. Maybe they'll do an American Dad one too. I must admit, the first episodes of Family Guy this season left me a little cold. Spots of pure comedy genius amid a lot of odd pacing. However, this Sunday's episode was one of the funniest I've ever seen. And as for American Dad, the pilot was good, but not anything amazing, but then the show took off. In fact, this is the first week Family Guy has been as good as American Dad. I love how American Dad has the same humor as Fmaily Guy, but it doesn't feel like as much of a rip off as it seemed at first. Both are great shows, in the vain of Futurama and The Simpsons. If Fox can have an Arrested Development, Family GUy, and American Dad Sunday night, they may have me taping The Sopranos come March.

OK I love Family Guy but does anyone else feel that the show is

The Full Blown AIDS song. Making fun of Rocky Dennis from Mask? I love the show and how irreverant it is, but I don't want to see it go the way of South Park. Where the jokes make you laugh initially because they shock the hell out of you, then on repeat viewings they are not as funny. Last nights episode was funny, but I am noticing a lot of really random (even for Family Guy) stuff thrown in.

...if after 30 minutes it will start to feel like "too much Family Guy". Like whenever I watch two episodes of Family Guy back to back. About 10 minutes into that second episode, I'm officially sick of Family Guy. Like most things, but especially with that show, a little goes a log way.

Animation Domination? Try Animation Damnation. Both shows Family Guy and American Dad are fucking god awfull stupid. You really need to have an IQ of about 90 to think they are quality stuff. You know, just below average but not quite a retard type IQ.

Peter is not Stewie's dad? Doesn't that totally debunk the episode where Stewie did the ol' "Fantastic Voyage" and fought his sperm brothers inside Peter's body? I guess that doesn't necessarily prove that Peter is Stewie's dad, but the kid Stewie bonded with was just like him -- plus, I just wanted to say "sperm brothers."

That's one bitter dude! But it looks like Fox learned their lesson--they're giving Family Guy the freedom & promotion it deserves. Maybe too much freedom--did you catch Brian hitting on Meg? Ewww. And as for Peter not being Stewie's father, I don't think the show's big on continuity. Whatever's good for a joke.

That Annika Sorenstam clip with Stewie the other week was out of control!!! I hadn't done a spit take in a decade and that brought one on. I, for one, herald the return of return of Family Guy. I love all the pop culture references from the 80's and late 70's. What other show is going to have the original voice of a GI Joe guy from the original series? Classic.

Family Guy and South Park are the top reigning animated comedies on TV right now. South Park is great because it can often be one of the smartest shows on TV while being the most irreverent. Family Guy has a certain sense of humor that often makes me laugh out loud, which is hard to do. While I like many of the pop culture references, the recent episodes seem to rely on them a bit much. Both shows totally outclass the Simpsons, which has worn out its welcome.

I don't think it's fair to say the Simpsons have worn out its welcome. They may not be at their peak anymore, but I thought this last season still delivered a lot of laughs (like when Homer and Apu were having a "whispering" argument while Snake was robbing the Kwik-E-Mart). I'd still take the Simpsons over any live action sitcom on television today.

I've noticed that new episodes I thought were lame the first time around seem a lot funnier in reruns. Fox just had a rerun of the show where Marge became a partner in Moe's tavern, and it was just okay the first time, but this time Homer whining how he "has to drink beer from a thermos like an ANIMAL!" had me laughing out loud. Maybe the pacing is too fast now, or you have to be prepared for the jokes to appreciate them.

Simpsons is getting pretty topical for a show that takes 8 month

Last season had some great episodes that actually addressed real issues like gay marriage, adoption in China, the rise of religion and Passion of the Christ, and the season before that had a great episode about Bart being considered un-american and un-patriotic. The show of course isn't as good as it was in its prime, but even the worst episodes of the Simpsons are better than most every other show on tv. I like Family Guy (not this season so much) but it will never be as good as The Simpsons.

...where Peter says: "Natalie Wood! Definitely, Natalie Wood!" made beer come shooting out of my nose (and I hadn't had a beer in more than 24 hours). Family Guy is full blown funny. The Simpsons can still make me smile from time to time, but mostly it's just the sound of Homer's voice. Just like the ticking of a clock wrapped in a warm, soft blanket can remind a newborn of a happier time and place, Homer's "d'oh" sometimes takes me back to the glory days when the show was still funny.

...was "officially" tested and found to be at 155, and yet I'm a big ol' fan of Family Guy. That being said, I think they're stuffing a few too many "you remember the time when" reference/flashbacks in these days, at least compared to its first run. Still a must-see, though, as far as I'm concerned. I also think American Dad is coming into its own, although I still haven't really watched a full episode yet - I'm usually viewing the show using the "Timeshifting" feature through my digital cable, which means that it's not available to me until friggin' 12:30AM. My... eyes... can't... stay... open... zzzzzzzzz...

Mel Gibson/Passion of the Christ jokes need to go the way of the

The Passion of the Christ parody on The Simpsons was done better by South Park, and that was a year earlier. Hell, even Family Guy's "Passion of the Christ 2" parody was better. The Simpsons' "Cain and Abel" parody was lame and played out.
The Simpsons is still one of the best comedies on television, but it'd be wise to pull a Seinfeld before it really starts to wear out its welcome. The Simpsons is better than Family Guy in terms of its legacy, but as of now, Family Guy is the better show. That's just my opinion. -

You cannot judge the quality of a show based on popularity. I'll remind you that "American Idol" has been on top for several years now, and that "Survivor" has also had a very successful run. Would you call that top-notch programming? How about "Friends" or, shudder, "Three-and-a-Half Men?" I know you never officially said "The Simpsons" was a better show, but that was certainly implied. If you want to argue that "The Simpsons" is a better show than "Family Guy," you'll need to supply a more cogent and relevant argument

The first new episodes of the season weren't quite up to par with the original running of the show, but the cast and crew should be allowed a grace period to reorient themselves. Last week's episode was fantastic, in my opinion, as everything felt more natural and relaxed. I don't know that a movie's needed, though.

this movie was actually planned and possibly already started before the show got its renewal. i give them credit for finishing it up and releasing it and not dumping it once Fox brought the show back. i dont know if they changed anything, but back then they were saying the movie would be R rated. call me childish but hearing stewey and peter swear would make me giggle just a bit. or even have chris screaming his head off.

Stewie ran outta steem after the second series, now a film about mayor Adam West trying to recapture the glory days, maybe even a starring role in Batman Men in tights. That would be sweet!

A few years back when I was one of the few loyal FG viewers, following it from one day and time to a different one every damn week, I remember all my pals telling me how silly the show was...or most saying it was flat-out unfunny compared to South Park. Well NOW people are saying the same thing about American Dad. That it's unfunny compared to Family Guy. Bullshite knee jerk reaction to something new, when all people want is the same 'ol FG silliness. American Dad is destined to become a bit of a classic on it's own, hopefully forging ahead and ignoring the detractors. With the addition (hopefully soon) of some secondary characters - what every show needs - it'll get better and better. I just hope the ratings stay decent (if they are I have no clue) and Fox learned their lesson on cancelling shows before they have a chance to shine.

You know I loved Road to Rhode Island too but Seth McFarlane really needs to shorten up the song parodies. He always goes at least one verse too long and the gag goes stale. On the otherhand, the Peter hitting his shin gag goes on for WAYYYYY too long and it gets funnier everytime I see it.
