LAKE PLACID 2 in the works' Really'

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here... and I have to admit. I love the original LAKE PLACID. It's not even in the "guilty pleasure" area. I geniunely love the movie. Bill Pullman, Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleeson and hotty-hot-hot Bridget Fonda... not to mention Betty White's awesome vulgarity... make that movie an instant cult classic to me. I realize it isn't THE GODFATHER, but I proudly put it next to Dante's PIRANHA or the Robert Forster starring, John Sayles scripted ALLIGATOR on the DVD shelf.

I got the heads up on a sequel that's in the works. No returning cast (it seems) and a Son of Bond... spells direct to video. Pity, but I'll always have my original on DVD. Who can forget the toe scene? "Is this the man that was killed?" "He seemed... taller." C'mon! That's awesome... Anyway, here's the heads up that I got on the sequel. Enjoy:

I doubt you have much interest in this but apparently they are making a sequel to Lake Placid. I know someone who works for an effects shop and he said he was doing some makeup tests right now for Lake Placid 2.

The biggest name he mentioned was Jason Connery (Sean Connery's son). Apparently he gets his throat cut somehow, because the task on him was to create a prosthetic Adam's apple that could be used to sustain damage, bleed etc.

He was also told that he is gong to be working on making some fake Crocodiles.

I don't know much more at this time, but I would almost guess that this is a a straight to DVD movie. Based mostly on the cast I have heard about and the rough estimate of the budget I have formulated based on some of the information.

I have not read any news on any site about this movie yet, so I don't know what it is worth or who is interested but they are doing a sequel.

If you do use this I would rather not have my name used. In fact, can you just say it was A Spy...

Missed opportunity in my book. The original RAWKED!!

    by Big_Bubbaloola

It's one of the most underated movies around. The script was written by David Kelley (he of Boston Legal and Ally McBeal) and the acting was the right side of tongue in cheek. Just worth it for the Golden Girl calling Bill Pullman a MotherFucker!! Classic!!

Why even bother sending it straight to DVD? This should just be straight to forgotten about.

...for the longest time I thought I was the only human being in the solar system who loved Lake Placid. Nice to see the affection! Gotta love the fact that the film willfully and with malice a forethought robbed the audience of an extravagant death for the croc in favor of strapping the fucker to a truck and driving it to Florida. And yes, the Gleeson/Platt exchanges were comedy gold. A film truly misunderstood and underrated. And Meredith Salenger will be mine.... Oh yes, she will be mine...

    Such a great film

    by bigcheckonthat

Yes, it's good to see some Lake Placid loving. My friends thought it was a complete waste of time. Now if we could only get some Peacemaker loving, I'd be happy

We should probably thank the gods: that could easily have een the scenario for Lake Placid itself. A shitty direct to video sequel was inevitable since the nibble mommys toes scen. i'm glad to have gotten one classic, well made movie out of them before they started raping the shit out of the concept. i love the original, it pips tremors to the top spot in my all time favourite creature features. Tremors of course, being another film, which spawned multiple shitty sequels, none of which tarnished the original's reputation.

    that movie is a classic

    by liljuniorbrown

For alot of reasons but Betty White saying "If i had a dick this is the part where i'd tell you to suck it" Thats a classic movie line. And i really think Oliver Platt is under rated,i mean he was kick ass in A Time To Kill, you have to try and ignore a sweaty blonde goddess named Ashlee Judd to see him but trust me he's great in it.

What? They Couldn't Resurrect Another Golden Girl?

And will Nathan Lane be playing the spry gay character this time? that I think of it, Oliver Platt wasn't supposed to be gay, necessarily. Whatever, I don't care. Just as long as Rue McClanahan is the one feeding the shark. I mean jumping the shark. I mean feeding the gator or crocodile or whatever. RUE ... MUST ... FEEEEEED!

    More Love for Lake Placid!

    by CatVutt

This movie is TERRIBLY under-rated! There's some great lines, big-ass Crocs, and decent actors who look completely comfortable with the goofy-but-in-a-good-way script. Bring 'em all back! Come on! Do it up right! This could be a huge hit! Uh...okay, maybe not, but it could make it's money back!

  • June 15, 2005, 11:05 a.m. CST

    camp at its best

    by Serial_Mom

the best line, by far in that flick... is when Betty White looks at the sheriff and says, "This is where, if I had a cock, I'd tell you to suck it." No one can say a line like that... and make you feel it.. like Betty White did.

How in the hell can there be a talkback with the words "Lake" and "Placid" together, and nobody's shit on this movie yet? Okay, here we go. This was a shitty, lazy-saturday-afternoon-and-there's-fuck-else-on sort of b-grade movie. Like C.H.U.D. , or The Toxic Avenger, or Piranha. There is no need to waste celluloid or digital data space for a sequel.

The Cow fishing scene is a classic. Can I get a Deep Rising sequel as well?

  • June 15, 2005, 2:21 p.m. CST

    Alex Childress, yes there is....

There's just no need for it to get theatrical release. I, for one, enjoy the shitty, lazy-saturday-afternoon-and-there's-fuck-else-on sort of b-grade movie. I wish there were more of them. (And then came "Frog-g-g!")

    Lake Placid 2

I will definitely rent this if it is made. I loved the sarcastic wit of the first movie. Too bad Steve Miner isn't onboard, he showed a great sense of humor with Lake Placid.
