Snikt! Snikt! Snikt! Fox has released an X3 teaser poster...
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with Fox's reaction, apparently, to the big brouhaha over X3... in the form of a teaser poster that was released today. Superherohype got the poster and I have to tell ya'... if I had faith in the project I'd be really excited... I've heard that the people on the production are warming to Ratner... I guess that's a good sign... I guess... I just can't shake the feeling that the poster would work better with only the middle claw up... kind of a hidden message from Tom Rothman to all the fans, you know? What do you folks think?

X3 poster and the FF banner.

It would be more apt if it was just the middle claw. For the fans, I mean.

no more, no less, no creativity....

I was all eager to check the poster and post on the car crash coming our way. Then I went back to read what Quint wrote. Great minds think alike and fools rarely differ.

Well, I already responded to this with some posts on the script leak thread... but I think this movie is going to be a pathetic mess. BAN FANTASTIC FOUR! Hit FOX where it hurts, and just maybe they'll pull the plug before it's too late. If not, hey, whatever. I'm not going to get in a bad mood about it again while there's Batman Begins to celebrate. I think, quite honestly, the best thing about well received movies like X-Men&X2, Spider-Man 1&2, Sin City, The Incredibles, Batman Begins, etc, is that no longer will fandom have to worry about one bad superhero movie sinking the ship for the entire genre. Enough good to outstanding films have been made by now that when a movie fails, whether it be Catwoman, Elektra, whatever, nobody is going to blame it on the genre as a whole; instead, the blame will fall wherever it squarely lies-- with the studio, the script, the writing, the acting, etc. In other words, I think we've reached a point where, in one form or another, comic books movies are likely here for the long haul.
So I guess if nothing else, that is cause to celebrate. -
My god they haven't even started filming and they already have a date that is even before Superman?
Less than a year is not enough time to make a great film. Real dissapointing having that hack filmaker bury this franchise. Quint is right, it really should be a middle finger claw..a big "fuck you" to all the fans of the comics and the film series courtesy of 20th century fox.
BTW the poster looks pathetic and desperate.

we've seen the coolest thing from X3 that we are going to see.

Thank you Joss and thank you Fox.
-
I know I have already mentioned this. But who do they hire to make these damn posters? Pathetic. Pure shit.
-
There's nothing at . Maybe they're just holding the URL for now. But you think Fox'd put something there. Smells fake.
-
That poster is ridiculous. "Me got paint. Dey say, me to paint. Me paint! Look is good. Moovie make money. Dey no whip me. Me paint again!" And what's with that release date? Spielberg may have the skill and the clout to get WOTW pushed through the process in record time, but do they seriously think that Ratner can get it done with a project like X3? This is like watching a bad car wreck in slow motion.
-
is my fav character, but you think they are getting a little crazy with promoting him as the most important? especially if there is going to be a wolverine spin off, they should just call X3, X-Man, not X-Men, as i said he is my favorite character but they are so biased on one character. I also remember how at one point the first X-Men wolverine had only a cameo, interesting huh? i dont know tom rothman but from what i heard here, someone should strand him on a desert island.
-
fox ruined their best franchise.
-
That's virtually the same concept and yet so much better than that damn movie poster!
-
I think its a good teaser poster. I figured they'd do something like that since Wolvie has 3 claws. I take it for what its worth, something to throw the name out there and tell people its coming. I have faith the film will be good. I think that script leaked is a bogus one. I think they're throwing off the scent of the internet community. Getting a bad taste in their mouth so this way they won't go diggin. I doubt anyone involved including MARVEL (who actually has some serious big pull to what FOX does with their characters) would allow them to do anything seriously deverse from the core of comics after all this is a big draw for them to not only A. Make money from the movie but B. Get people to buy comic books.
I say Have faith naysayers. Remember the glass is half full not half empty. A year is plenty of time for a 3rd movie. The actors know their roles, only have to memorize a few lines and all the pre-production work is done. The FX guys don't have to do ALL new fx engines since Cyke, Storm, Wolive etc... all have shown their powers in previous movies. I will forever remain optimistic until I've seen the movie, after all, how many bogus script leaks have we seen? either purpose leaks or unintentional? Note: I am not on drugs, I am not delusional and I am not insane :) -
I so don't care about this movie now.
-
oo. MyPanda actually just made me feel better about this movie. if he's right about studios leaking bogus scripts all the time..when has that happened before?
-
Okay, I like it too! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!! (* sigh *)

But if Wolverine is going to take a side step in this one, why put his claws in it. Hopefully the rumors are true and they have reworked the entire script. Ratner won't be replaced anymore (sadly), but we can hope for a kick-ass script, right?

Whedon didn't draw that fucking cover, John Cassaday did. Quit giving Whedon credit for it. You think that was even Whedon's idea? For fuck's sake. That's like saying Stan Lee created anything.

Anyone who gives this awful project an ounce of the benefit of the doubt after seeing this horribly cliched teaser poster should be shot. We aren't buying it Fox. Change the project or prepare to lose millions.
-
C'mon guys, calm down. I think it's a very logical-looking teaser poster, just like the teaser poster for the first film was simply an X-shaped door beginning to open. It isn't supposed to be mind-blowing art. As for the release date being superimposed on the bottom, I agree that it's a pretentious move, because how the hell do they know if they'll get it finished in time or not? By the way, I forget what the poster for the second movie was...a giant X with a 2 on it?
-
Well, Stan Lee created many anythings, Spider-Man being one of them.
-
Keep in mind that we're getting our panties in a twist over the review of a partial rough draft and the arrival of Brett Ratner (at least we're not getting Uwe Boll). I'm with you guys for hating Rothman, but I think we shouldn't be tearing the movie to pieces before it has even started shooting. I have my own demands that I want met like the next guy...no pussy-whipped Wolverine and no mutant cure, although sadly I think they'll keep that shit in, but I'm not afraid to say that I'll give this film the benefit of the doubt, and if I get screwed over, then it's my own personal loss for doing so.
-
So, its a simple visual pun. At least its not just the stars' head shots, like most movie posters these days... Pan out.
-
It's 99 percent likely that this has something to do with all the bad press that has descended upon this movie in our little corner of the globe since last week. Which means there is someone at Fox who's paying attention. But instead of responding by pulling the plug, or pushing back the schedule, or even acknowledging the comments made in any way, they give us a poster. Boom. Release date front and center, as if in defiance. Like Quint said, it's a big "Fuck You" to all of us. It makes me sick.
-
"Frist!"
"Double Shot of Crap"
"Just what I expected"
It sucks ballz!... blah blah blah... Here's to the most cynical motherfuckers on the planet. Hyperbole Central. We is just way too cool for EVERYTHING, ain't we?The only thing NOT predictable on this TB is the TEASER poster itself. While I don't particuarly think it works very well, some Graphic Artist, and get this kids: He actually has a JOB that actually PAYS him for making ARTWORK, took some risks and got at least a few suits to sign off on it. ANd while I may think that the end result is somewaht ill considered, I feel no need to vent my friggin' spleen over a comic book adaptation teaser poster. Perhaps pissing an anything and everything merely for the sake of pissing pays rewards I'm not aware of? That indeed I can't even fathom? Why else would so many people spend so much time on such a infantile pastime? -
it a mutant' ballsack with 3 testicles in it hanging from the top of the poseter.

... ... ... stupid.

And Jack Kirby would watch and laugh. Fuck Stan Lee. Credit-taking motherfucker. Just Imagined sucked.

they're gonna need to do better than that to get me interested

The is the same teaser poster they had for X-Men. And who the fuck are you piss-wits talking trash about Stan Lee?! Do you KNOW him? Did you work with him? Did he confide some past information to you??? Yeah, some of us have read all about the "secret" history of Marvel, and about how Kirby and Ditko came up with a tremendous amount of ideas (it was part of their job, I think), and how, Stan being the unabashed ham that he is, Lee took credit for all of it. So what? Congratulations on your literacy. At this point in time who gives a shit?! Kirby was an immense talent. And Ditko is the definition of legend. But in any working relationship, no matter how synergistic, there's gonna be problems. It's debatable that either of these two artists went on to create anything on their own that was as enduring as what they did at Marvel. You can argue about Lee's talent all you want. Being a younger person with today's enlightened perspective of things, you probably will. But the fact remains he gave birth to an empire. Can you bitches say the same? BTW, if Stan still held any power at Marvel, and he saw the inanity of current developments, he would tell Avi to pack up his shit and hit the bricks, and kick Rothman in the nuts!!
-
That's all. Like this wasn't obvious anyway.
-
So tipical of these bastards to just put some shit together in 2 seconds. if thats the best they could think of for a poster just imaging how lame the movie is going to be. what the fuck take your time to do shit right. how do you think the sisten chapel would of looked if michelango only had a year to do it? it would of been garbage.
-
...refers to the killer third act of that leaked script, which saves the movie by having Wolverine wake up in the shower and realizing it was all a dream. Maybe Storm could be in there with him asking where he'd gone in his head while she was servicing his unit. Then that funky bass can kick in and we can get the true X3 - as in triple X movie that we all want to see Halle in. That way, at least if Fox is going to give us a "fuck you," there would be some actual fucking to enjoy. Seriously, though: If the script is what we've seen, I hope to god that third act kicks all kinds of unhinted at ass.
-
Or how about the skulls of Cyclopse and Professor X held up on the middle finger pikes! Yeah, that gets the message across!
-
Did I say he wrote the character's stories? Did I even say he created the character's origin? No. Chill the fuck out.
-
its a cutesy teaser poster that means nothing if they kill off cyclops.. and prof x... what the hell are they thinking.....upchuck all over the poster....blarghhhhhh....

I know this is a bit off topic, but those of you who have said that Serenity's gonna bomb: eat this!! http://www.buffy.nu/article.php3?id_article=10003
A distributor says that Universal reps wished they hadn't changed the release date from May because it would have given Star Wars a run for its money, and they'll probably make it earlier than Sept. 30. This is based on numbers, not statistics (I believe the term "off the charts" was used). In your face, Joss haters! Fox, you wish you got him first for X3! (see, I brought it back on topic) -
I meant numbers AND statistics, not speculation.
-
Seein' as how Wolvie has three claws on each hand, and he's clearly the most popular X-Man, makes sense. So, people really need to stop being ignorant, taking offense like this is Hugh Jackman's bold statement that he's usurping the show. Just wish they woulda had some GUTS, and released a poster with a giant bird composed entirely of fire looming over the logo.
-
Rush Hour 3, X-Men 3, same thing right?
-
As a canadian I feel guilty saying this, but Wolverine is the most overrated comic character ever. He's good in small doses, but there are so many other more interesting characters. Gambit, Iceman, Archangle, Juggernaut, Beast, anyone else. Why not show us a glimpse of someone new to the series? Nope let's put Wolverine on the poster , cause he's going to have his own movie after this. Lame

Coincidence?
-
Yeah, so maybe we're gonna see Jackie Chan as Sunfire and Chris Tucker as the new Storm, at least we'd have something to laugh.
-
The poster itself is fine. I mean the teaser poster for 'X2' was the same thing except with a 2 in the middle instead of Wolverine's claws, right? So whatever. I just don't like the fact that they released it in the middle of all this drama. Doesn't seem like a coincidence, if you ask me (which I know no one did) and, again, it pisses me off.
-
I was tryin' t'think the other night about what it was with Ratner that bothered me so much. And behold! Ya pounded that nail. An' R.J., no yawn! You should be proud to have a character like Wolvie representin' your fine country. He's the reason a developed a fondness for all things Canadian! There's that word I hate again. Wolverine is not so much overrated (Hell, he's one of the Archetypical Characters- up there with Spider-Man, Batman, and Superman, dislike 'em if you will, you cannot deny their impact!), as he is over-fuckin-exposed. And I totally agree, he should NOT dominate the action. He should play his part, and relinquish the spotlight to the leaders and thinkers. This "lame" that you refer to is the total lack of imagination that has, thus far, characterized developments on this project. And lastly, I am all for X4: THE NEW MUTANTS! with characters like Angel, Beast, Dazzler an' Psylocke.
-
can't believe they put that fuckin release date on the poster, I hope for nothing more than for that movie to NOT make it for Mem Day '06.... the way this movie is being handled is why Hollywood deserves the shit we give it.
-
See where this is going Fox? Why would you allow what is basically amounting to a pissing contest to circumvent the growth of such a lucrative franchise?
-
Putting aside any negative feelings about the way Fox is reportedly handling this film, I think it's a cool teaser poster. Wolverine is, after all, the best part of these flicks and one of the toughest action movie characters in recent years.
-
With a giant turd
-
Dazzler was the best character in the X-men arcade game. Oh yeah I said that shit.
-
You see, Wolverine has THREE claws and this is the THIRD movie in the series. Hawhawhawhaw, I'm busting up with the damn cleverness of it all. Can't wait for part six, when they use BOTH of his hands. Hawhawhawhaw. Wow, can I work for a marketing firm in Hollywood one day? Will War of the Worlds III show three upturned legs from a downed tripod? Get it? Part THREE? TRIpod legs?
-
Poor saps getting this shit ready for May 2006. I hope the film could magically be put into development hell until they pull their fingers out.
-
Ya know, the cover for Astonishing X-Men 1 was on Marvel's best covers of the year poll thing. And the New Avengers 1 cover was the runner up. Is there something I'm missing, because these images all seem pretty dull. Oh, well. At least we don't have to look at the new wolverine costume with replica animal fur, nipples and 1674 pockets and bondage straps on it.
-
Nice try, but I'm not buying it. With Brett Ratner on board to direct, I'm no longer interested in "X3." I'm not saying this out of spite, or because I even care that much, but because I'm utterly lukewarm to Ratner's work. Some people dig his films, which is cool, but I thought "Red Dragon," "After the Sunset," and the "Rush Hour" films showed how uninspiring films can be. Way to pick a director who'll suck your dick and tell you you're a God, Rothman. Not that your ego needs it.
-
What you didn't notice that 2600ad went far deeper into his criticism of Lee than I did? Just because you're wrong doesn't mean you should get all butt hurt about it. Oh, and by the way, yeah, Batman Begins FUCKING SUCKED.
-
I only addressed you 'cause you addressed me. And I'm not wrong.
-
... can I get an Amen?
