The First New DEAD ZONE Since August!! The Long, Forboding Shadow of Greg Stillson!!

Published at:  Jun 12, 2005 2:10:56 AM CDT

SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

When we last left Johnny Smith, he and Rebecca Caldwell (Sarah Wynter) were trying to link evil politician Greg Stillson to the murder of Rebecca’s sister, and Johnny’s visions of the horrible future left him literally floored. FutureGuy Christopher Wey was in the picture, still sending Johnny clues from the Land O’ What’s Coming.

As “Dead Zone” begins its fourth season, I just want to make this point. The creators must stop with plotlines that hinge on somebody not believing Johnny when he makes a prediction. Johnny has made like 200 predictions by this point. They’ve all been publicized in the newspapers, and 199 of these predictions have come true.

“The 4400”: 9 p.m. Sunday. USA.

“The Dead Zone”: 10 p.m. Sunday. USA.

Were Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader two different people in the early drafts of “The Empire Strikes Back”? All is revealed in The Annotated Screenplays (Star Wars, Episodes IV-VI)

Look! A fabulous new book co-edited by big-deal "Buffy"-"Firefly"-"Gilmore Girls" TV writer Jane Espenson. She introduces each of the essays, and the whole book besides:
Finding Serenity : Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly

And there’s this: The Lost Work of Stephen King: A Guide to Unpublished Manuscripts, Story Fragments, Alternative Versions, and Oddities

And this: Stephen King's The Dark Tower : A Concordance, Volumes I and

One of the most consistent shows on the air. I've been looking forward to its return for some time now.

As for the Hackiness of Stephen King, I guess, but every time I dive into one of his Dark Tower books, after wards, I always check my shorts for cream.

Wonder if this is the last season?

    by snaieke

I haven't heard anything about the show in forever. Seems like its getting less and less pluggage from USA. You would think with Medium and whatever that new psychic show coming to CBS next year they'd be all over flaunting that this is in its 4th season. Maybe NBC should try to snag the first 3 seasons as a summer program ala Monk with ABC. They're hurting in ratings ;)

Seems they stopped making those plotlines awile ago

    by fantomex

Its pretty rare to have a plot hinge on someone not believing Johnny. Besides, people would still disbelieve his visions after a million successful predictions.

Dead Zone on German TV @ Der Langhaarige

    by freebie

Dead Zone is already running in Germany. It's shown from Monday to Thursday at 20.15 p.m. on the Sci Fi Channel. The Channel is part of Premiere Pay TV.
They have already shown the first two seasons, and are doing reruns right now.

You were trying to quote Race Bannon but I believe the correct quote is "Get a look at Aquezio you heathen monkeys!" I don't recall Race saying 'good' in the original line (though I'm willing to say I might be wrong about that). The plural of monkey is monkeys, not monkies (as you wrote). And anyway, what does this have to do with Dead Zone?

Off the topic: a clue to The Simpsons movie?

    by frankdrebin

There was a rerun of The Simpsons tonight where Bart wondered why anyone would pay to see a full-length movie version of a cartoon show they can see on tv for free. Later, Lisa says she has a website called "www.LisaTheMovie.com" If you enter the name, it says that the site has been recently registered, with content coming soon. Maybe just coincidence.

There's no way Fox'll call it THE LISA MOVIE instead of THE SIMPSONS MOVIE.

Eh, I agree with Johnny Smith (SPOILERS)

    by heisenberg85

I had the exact same reaction. Great episode, but I thought the throwing of the cane was a bit silly. I mean, it's not completely out of character, but still a stupid move. If he wants to stop the end of the world you'd think he'd want as much info as possible.
But you really have to give the writers credits for writing themselves out of the corner. They managed to keep Stillson in play while adding more layers to the story.
Prediction, I bet that cane is back in Johnny's hands by the end of the season. Either he fishes it out of the river or the shady illumanati men do it for him.

I hate it when overpaid producers have to fuck with things. The old theme song was just fine.

New Year's Prayer was a great theme song. And for me, Dead Zone's always been a fun summer show, but nothing to get tooooo excited about.

Don't mind the new theme music though it's kind of uninspired.
    THE CANE:
Well, the future self told him letting the lady shoot Stillson was the only way out. Thusly, I don't think he'll be much more help. I thought throwing the cane away was a pretty good step.
    S. KING:
The Dark Tower series convinced me that Stephen King has finally achieved "I can write any crap that comes into my head and it doesn't even need to make any sense and people will buy it" status. The first book was good, all the others were simply milking the cash cow. I stopped reading the third book halfway through because it seemed not so much a story as scattered rambling.

Heisenberg: I don't think Janus is with the Illuminati (SPOI

    by johnny smith

I think he's part of the "Johnny Smith - Believe" cult that was hinted at in the future sequences of "Finding Rachel, Part 1". They both have to do with the Eye of God, at any rate. Oh, and check this out: Johnny might be able to get the cane back based solely on Janus's name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janus_%28mythology%29...."Janus was the god of gates, doors, doorways, beginnings and endings...the god of change and transitions such as the progression of past to future, of one condition to another, of one vision to another, and of one universe to another...When Romulus...kindapped the women of the Sabines, Janus caused a hot spring to erupt, causing the would-be attackers to flee. In honor of this, the doors to his temples were kept open during war so that he could easily intervene. The doors and gates were closed during peace." In my humble opinion, the doors have been opened...
