HUSTLE & FLOW's Craig Brewer to shoot greatest exploitation film title ever... BLACK SNAKE MOAN!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... This news makes me smile like an Eddie Murphy animated character. Back in March when Craig Brewer dropped into town during SXSW week to show me HUSTLE & FLOW... At the dinner afterwards he told me about a film he was making next called BLACK SNAKE MOAN... and yes, it is every bit as filthy as that title insinuates.
My memory is a tad hazy, but I seem to remember that he was saying the film was to be in the spirit of I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE and involves a white nymphomaniac girl that ends up chained to a guy's bed for perpetual usage. Things don't go well and violence and sex and much drama flows all over the place. At the time, he told me that the hope was that he would be shooting the film this summer.
Well - over at BlackFilm.Com - they've got a story about how Christina Ricci has been cast as the nubile nympho... and that SAM JACKSON is aboard to fill the first 2 thirds of the title character. Folks - I know how sleazy and slimy this premise sounds... but I guarantee that the second after you've seen HUSTLE & FLOW, the tone and look of the film... followed by complete confidence in Craig Brewer will come along and like a semi knock you out and dreaming about BLACK SNAKE MOAN. Craig is a major new talent, and we have John Singleton to thank for bringing him to our stage! This will be Ricci's best role since she was hauling Barbara Streisand portraits 'round Vegas!

Sorry dudes, but Ricci had 'em reduced for more 'mainstream' (read: anorexic stick-thin beauty-myth Ho-llywood) acceptance, although it didn't seem to really help any. Look at her in Buffalo 66 vs. anything recent for proof. As far as this flick, great title, but whenever a movie/filmmaker comes out of a film fest with this kind of circle-jerk hype I get skeptical.

Sorry if i typed the name wrong, but my point is very simular to his.I'm no censor,and i know the movie will probably be diffrent than the way it was described by fat fuck but i wouldn't get any pleasure out of seeing somebody tied to a bed and raped ,not for five seconds much less two hours i don't give a fuck who they are. I love movies,all types and i know sometimes to be true to the source material or to show how horrible a charactor is or why a charactor is the way he or she is emotionaly you have to have a rape scene because just saying it happened might not drive the point home enough,but to have it drawn out into a whole movie or to have it just for shock value is beyond perverted. Thats just the way i feel,can't help it. Guy or girl if you get off on the thought of somebody getting raped by a man woman or fucking alien monster demon from a dumb ass Anime cartoon then your no better than the rapist and your probably gonna be one if your not already.Thats how kid touchers are made folks.Movies can push the limit and mess with your head without it,look at Fight Club.Oh well like i posted earlier, must be the slowest news week in history.

I think there are too many blurring factors that are too unsettling for a lot of people to except, but none the less are absent from it. For example, since rape is an act of sexual violence, lets look at the violence run through the same formula. I

Different takes on rape make for different movies, to be sure. I don't think watching movies about rape makes one a child toucher. I would assume having been touched as a child would make one prone to being a child toucher, you binary-thinking oaf. (NeoSamurai, I'm not talking to you.) Besides, movies are pretend. If you think rape scenes are hot, kindly check out Irreversible and get back to us on that one.

All i was saying blue7 and anybody else that took offense to me saying that people that enjoy watching rape will probably end up being rapist,is if your sick enough to get off on watching rape simulated in a movie,cartoon,comic,or pictures then your going to act on it eventualy. The people that write and produce shit like that are either doing it just to shock the public to get publiciy or because thats what they have to see to get off and they want to give material to people just like them. Having read the script for BLACK SNAKE MOAN, I can tell you that it isn't another MONSTER'S BALL. Sam Jackson doesn't have sex with Ricci. Despite the title, this really isn't an exploitation movie at all. It's more of a low-key character piece. I have no idea why the writer compared it to I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE.
