Crispin Glover as THE JOKER is a fanboy's dream come true. The goy is a terrific, versatile, overlooked but fabulous actor.

Couldn't watch this with sound because I'm at school but damn that looks great. I'm really excited by the chance to see Bruce's first night out, before he develops the batsuit, dressed in all black and a ski mask. That was one of the best parts on "Mask of the Phantasm". Also, I love the image of the bats fluttering all around him as he stands with his eyes closed...This is going to be THE movie this summer. Well, after Episode III.
-
Then sign MY Petition.....know that my petition is asking that Nolan CONSIDERS casting Glover in this pivotal and crucial role in the Batman mythology.

Are you Glover's agent, or something? Or are you Glover himself? Just wondering because you're pushing for this like you have an interest in it. Hey, I like the idea, but your positivity is... suspicious.

Fuck Crispin Glover. Fuck him up his stupid ass.
-
Check out the area around his head. The screen doing that FIght Club thing when the movie comes off the reels. That's a freaking awesome way to show the POV of somebody hit with fear toxin.

I hope this settles it for any of the doubters out there who were having reservations. I can
-
...optimistic with each new promotional piece that comes out for this film. But we'll see if it actually delivers. I do hope they don't ever show the batsuit in full light. It looks very menacing in shadow, but the images I've seen where it's fully illuminated make it look a little silly. And there's really no reason for him to wear it in a brightly lit room, if you think about it.

by rev_skarekroe
Therefore the movie WILL suck! Haven't you people been reading moviemack's posts?
-
I'm pretty stoked! This looks a hundred times better than the shite-fests we've been subjected to. Nolan is GREAT! As for the horse? Didn't the scarecrow escape from Arkham on a horse in 'The Long Halloween' (operating on faulty memory here).. and many major cities have elevated trains... this isn't being unbelievable... who cares? I'm stoked.

watching these trailers, i get a sense of... i don`t know, intense restlessness, like when i was a wee pup on christmas eve. this movie has to be dope or i`ll be very depressed about it. katie holmes sucks ass, but i will not let her ruin it for me. everyone and everything else looks cool as hell. yes, i do believe my nipples have hardened...

No Commissioner Gorden (except for what looked like one brief shot). But DAMN this looks good. Nice when all the pieces seem to come into place.

Arg, enough with the Joker casting couch, there's a whole thread
by i dunno
Looks pretty cool. I don't hate the Batmobile quite as muc now anyway. I don't know about Bale though. He seems kind of goofy, like how he was in American Psycho when he wasn't killing people. But they didn't show enough of him to really make a judgement call. And do Morgan Freeman and Samuel L. Jackson have a bet on who can be in more movies than Michael Cain first?
-
Here's what happens: Joe Chill is the killer. He's caught after it happens. Years later he's going to get early parole because he shared a cell with Carmine Falcone and agrees to testify against him. Bruce, is obviously pissed and decided to kill him, but is beat to the punch.
-
I am much more optimistic about the look of Gotham after seeing this one. The only thing I really don't like now is Katie Holmes, every time she pops up in a trailer, I pop right back out for a second. Other than that, I'm stoked!!!
-
Great. The Batmobile jumping over the building tops, the miniature train, Batman in flames, his gliding, the billowing of his cape as he's perched, Cranes fear toxin effect. I thought it felt right. Nothing looked CG, felt like what they used was real, and isn't that the point?
-
Hey thanks, I actually really like that. From the looks of the gun throwing away scene it is probably before Bruce leaves for his training huh? I was wondering how exactly Falcone was going to fit into the whole thing. I
-
Why do so many of you want that glover guy for the joker role? He can't pull that off. Jere Burns in his hayday would of been the perfect joker. Hes the blonde guy from that old Dear John show with Judd Hirsch.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0122716/ -
That was awesome. I like Katie. The action looked freaking great.
-
Yeah it has new scenes like the one of Bruce going out the first time not as Batman but just as a masked fighter, but this trailer seems to be cut all over the place, not very coherent... at least for me, there's just something very strange with the flow the trailer, but anyway, nice new scenes.
-
Every new trailer just looks better, I've gone from being underwhelmed by the first trailer to being completely hyped for this flick.
-
but really I just want to see the film. Big deal there's a few new things, I'm more curious about the 90+ minutes we haven't seen. Trailers leave too many questions, like: Is the gun he holds from his parents murder or for retribution on the killer? Is there a single antagonist, or several and how do they fit in with the plot? (and most importantly) Did the costumer restrict the nip-age on the batsuit while allowing it on Holmes?

There is CGI... for one, the bats are CGI. At least it is for the scene where Batman is falling down all the floors. When they first showed a still or footage waaaaay back, there weren't any bats.

looks like a 5 year old anime doll. Is Bruce Wayne a pedophile like Cruise is?
-
The one before this was the one that got me giddily excited for this flick - the new trailer shows too much in-costume action, and confirms that moulded rubber still sucks. Ah well, it'll be a fun flick, but I just wish they could get the costume right.
-

Looking forward to it... but I hope for a better Batman costume
by jdanielp
There are many stylistic, visual interpretations within the comics... and I see nothing wrong with that idea spilling over into the movies. Just do a better job on the costume designs, okay?
-
Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I though Katie Holmes looked fine. Connolly would've looked hot, too, as would've Alba, but I'm happy with what I've seen from Holmes. She's not as wild a choice as Chris Nolan could've made, but I liked Holmes's work in "Wonder Boys," and "Pieces of April," and I think she's hot in her own way. I think she's meant to convey a sense of good-natured innocence in the film, which comes naturally to her, in my opinion, so I think she'll do a good job in the film.
-
I've watched that over and over again. Did he hit himself in the back of the head with his own sword?
-
I thought Batman's costume and his Batmobile both looked badass in the new trailer. Less cartoony, in my opinion, and more practical.
-
She was a childhood chum. Katie's face is youthful and reminds you of the fact that they knew each other for a long while. Plus she looks young and vulnerable... remember... Katie probably won't last long. I don't remember seeing Batman growing old with his childhood chum...(or I could be wrong)
-
This is going to make a bazillion dollars, a whoooooollle bazillion!!!!...oh yeah and Glover can't act to save his life.
-
My first impression was that the clumsy ninja was an inexperienced Bruce Wayne.

2 hours, 20 minutes, according to the British ratings classification board. Go to: http://www.bbfc.co.uk/, then click on Recent Decisions/Links, and click on the "Batman Begins" link.
-
It's Bruce in training. It's cut to look like they take a step forward when Wayne enters, but in the film it will make sense. Still if the trailer was cut so that fanboys would giggle at that, it's kinda clever but I think it may be a coincidence.Oh, and this film will be shat upon by War Of The Worlds.
-
It's just that his mask slips over his eyes.
-
It's just that his mask slips over his eyes.
-
Example: Angel fights crime. Batman copies it. Angel is moody and dark: Batman copies that. I'm surprised Joss Whedon hasn't sued yet.
-
LMAO get a liff
-
He LOOKS like he fumbles his sword but in FACT he is spinning a pair of nunchakas. Watch the clip in double size and you see him pull them over his shoulder before bringing his hand up to his face to receive.
-
Definitely not nunchaks, you can watch it frame by frame and see the sword, and he's not bringing his hand up to his face to receive but to fix the mask that's slipped over his eyes. Though I think previous posters may be right, that could be Wayne.
-
This looks sweet, but I wish they'd design a batsuit allowing him to turn his neck and head a bit. He looks so stiff in those fight scenes.
-
I would love to see some experimentation.
-
Just read Jesse Ventura's book.
Hulk Hogan sold out his fellow wrestlers for his own personal gain. When Jesse was trying to organise a union. Hulk "man of the people"Hogan went and told on them, spoiling their plans. What a sell out. -
http://www.natick.army.mil/soldier/media/fact/individual/FW.htm
Rumor has it the "Spider-Man People" have asked to use this in their movie. -
...that the little snippet with the clumsy ninja was actually accidentally cut into this trailer. It doesn't even come from this movie, but from a sequel to a Chris Farley film. It's called Beverly Hills Ninja II: Downs and Out. The soundtrack will feature the uncompromised, unedited version of the Black Eyed Peas hit "Let's Get Retarded in Here!" and the film also features a CGI Chris Farley "Force ghost" that insturcts the retarded ninja in the comical ways of combat. Look for it this summer.
-
i don't see the big deal about the "retarded ninja".. isn't it remniscent of the stormtrooper blooper we've all grown to love??
-
Okay, chief. Whatever you say.
-
My complaint with the batsuit isn't so much about the design or the look, but the fact that the rubber bunches up at the joints, thus making it look like some cheap halloween outfit. You'd think they would have smoothed it out or something.
Also, if they are going the way of sci-fi (at least decades before practical applications) with the electro-cape, they should have just had Batman wear liquid armor. Light, thin armor that hardens on impact making the wearer bullet-resistant if not bullet-proof. This is currently being developed just like the electro-cape.
I do like the idea of actually featuring bats in this movie. I always thought they were severely underused and can be a great tool of fear and diversion. After all, there is a reason why he's called "The Batman"! -
I am the greatest talkbacker ever to post 112th! I kiss my own ass.
-
Liam Neeson plays Ra Ah Ghul, not Ken Wantanabe. Liam playing Ducard is a ruse that is revealed in the 3rd act when they have a fight on a speeding train.
-
Just kidding, post what you want. I was just observing that in these TalkBacks people get fixed on one inane subject and won't shut up about it. Oh and thanks for the spoiler there, Blarneyman. Putting *Spoiler* in the subject line does nothing.
-
but other than that it looks great.
-
...if at the end of the film he rolls out a modified version that looks like a Batmmobile.
-
I Dunno, you're an asshole. Why do you even log on to this site? Fucking "spoiler" in all caps with four fucking asterisks on either side isn't fucking enough for you? And the fact that Neeson is really Ra's al Ghil is completely fucking obvious, even if you haven't read the leaked script. Which by the way, is only supported by the last two trailers, because a ton of the lame shit in the script is glimpsed in both trailers. I know, I know, go make my own movie, right?

It's average at best. It looks like the Batman TV movie of the w
by orionsangels
In a way that's cool though. It's not a showoff all out epic movie, like the other Batman movies tried to be. It seems like less of an event this batman movie, maybe because the charm of seeing batman on screen has worn off. Strip it to its bare bones and what do you have left? Hopefully a good story with some cool action. Will see.
-
in the sense that I get no feeling of seeing something for the first time like when I saw the Spider-man trailer for the very first time. It just looks and feels so ordinary. *****SPOILER***** (that's FIVE asterisks) I can't wait for the end of the film when Bruce Wayne tells Katie Holmes he'd give it all up, giving up being Batman for her. Yeah, caaan't wait...
-
I could have just said it, like Katie Holmes doesn't die. Scarecrow has two scenes in his mask, and on the whole it's utterly forgettable.
-
How in the hell were the other Batman movies more 'epic'? Epic tends to imply grand in scale... Batman Begins tends to look a little more 'grand in scale' than a bunch of movies filmed entirely on London soundstages instead of any real locations. Hell, you can almost feel the 'roof' on Gotham City in the other Bat-flicks.
-
This movie looks absoutely fantastic, it will certainly be the best Batman on film. I can't wait. In other comic to film news: since Harry & co. seem to have a grudge against reporting on info on the new TMNT film I'd figure I'd do it for them. -
Batman isn't ending on Joel Schumacer's note?
Batman= still cool -
isn't this a great summer for movies!
-
This was cool as Hell. It was the first Batman trailer I've seen in a looong time that has a sense of energy and purpose to it.
-
Okay, I do like the trailer. If it was any other superhero movie, I'd just think that it looked interesting. With the last 3 Batman films totally sucking, it is nice to see a different take on the character. I'm looking forward to it, but I won't be the first in line. NOW... about the explosion debris flying out of the temple towards the end of the trailer - I am so damn sick of seeing that effect in almost any film that contains an explosion. It all seemed to start with the "Twister" trailer back in 1996 with CG debris flying at the camera. Now, it's used in everything and I have to admit that it's a total turn-off. I'm just tired of seeing the same old shit, aren't you? CG bats, CG explosions, CG everything! As much as I hate to admit this, films do suck a bit more because of this over-used technology. It's almost like the technology is compensating for a real lack of visual sense and, more importantly, a good story. Sorry, I'll try to be more upbeat when films aren't all looking the same (visually).
-
Oh. Blarneyman. Sigh. Anyway, I don't think CGI is necessarally overused. I think if there were no CGI they would try the same shots with conventional FX and it would look fake in a different way. Look at the original Batman for example. Those FX looked fake as hell and it was all stop motion and matte paintings. I think CGI is much maligned.
-
you KNOW you're wrong.
-
"I WON'T be ignored!" not "I will not be ignored." This IS a movie geek site, after all. And moviemack was mentioning "real world people" because monkey tennis brought it up. BUT, he's right, moviemack, you fuckin' jerk, how dare you continue to rant against this film! We've seen the trailers! They're hot! That Batmobile looks baddass! This movie's gonna be fuckin' great because I like the trailer! The rubber suit is rad, way more believable so we don't have to suspend our disbelief! This is what Nolan's giving us so you better fuckin' like it or shut the fuck up! Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....
-
leave em with a smile!
-
Actually could be as good as the Burton version. But why did they have to go an ruin the Batmobile ? What's wrong with the suit ? I have to take a closer look.
-
this will be MUCH better then the last film
-
apparently if you have a positive attitude towards a movie that looks to be great, you're pro-republican?? does this mean that all fans of the catwoman movie are democrats?! do political views really influence whether or not a movie rocks or not?! let me take this opportunity to mention LORD OF THE RINGS.. this is it, folks.. ground-zero...talkbacks have hit rock fucking bottom..
-
Like SW Ep III, people will say this is brilliant because it is so much better than the garbage that came before it. But I think it will be a fairly solid and entertaining movie.
-
"How in the hell were the other Batman movies more 'epic'?" Have you see the original Batman lately? The scope of that film is ridiculous. The whol model city of Gotham. The music. It was beyond over the top. Then you have Batman forever, again, a grand spectacle, huge goofy city and batman 4? gay colorful world, massive sets. Thanks to this CGI world we live in, we know most of the effects were done on a home computer. So grandness of it all is gone. Sure it has some sets, but nothing like Batman Returns. The whole movie was filmed on massive sets. The other batman movies were made in more ambitious times for F/Xs, now you hit a button and you have effects.

So you're saying when BATMAN BEGINS defies your prediction and tears up the box office AND garners great reviews for Nolan and Bale that then you'll FINALLY admit you were wrong and have been bagging all over this movie for no reason at all? Doubtful, I'm sure -- but we'll all be here to remind you of your lame predictions later, Moviemack. Personally, I can't wait for this to open. Alongside SITH and WOTW, we're now guaranteed 3 great summer flicks to keep asses in a darkened theater munching our way through the big tub of corn. The new trailer is great and the movie will be, too. Give it a rest, Moviemack. Even from the fucking trailers you can tell Nolan delivered on this baby.

Here's my little grocery list of preferable actors.
Jack Napier/The Joker: Lachy Hulme has been mentioned a lot on Batman-On-Film as the preferably Joker and I have to agree. He seems MUCH more menacing than fucking Crispin Glover! (I'll always see him as that stringy, yelping bitch who always got his ass whooped in the Charlie's Angel movies.)
Harvey Dent/Two-Face: Clive Owen. This cast may seem a little uninspired to people but I believe he's proven himself to be a good enough actor to pull off the Harvey Dent side and still be a bit more of a badass, tragic and especially intimidating Two-Face than a Guy Pearce would. For the make-up it would be cool if they went along the lines of a Darkman look without ripping it off too much. It's more realistic sinces thats what they've been going for anyway. And NO two-sided suit. Just keep it simple.
Dick Grayson/Robin (IF he should come along): Emile Hirsch. Seeing him in the Emperors Club he's always seemed like a Dick Grayson to me. Plus he's definately proven himself to be a genuine ACTOR instead of a self-absorbed, pretty face or 'it-boy' playing half-assed 'bad-boys' in teeny-bop slasher flicks. (GAAAAWD I hated House of Wax!) We don't need another Chris O'Donnell here. Robin should actually be a KID this time around and not some 'rebel' 25-year-old on a motorcycle. And no rubber body suit. His outfit should look nothing like Batman's. Maybe something along the lines of a Legalos from LOTR (I mean his outfit from the early days always did kind of resemble that of an elf. Thus the Legalos referance.)
And one last thing. I hope they either kill off Katie Holmes or just not include her in the sequels. She's seemed to water down every piece of footage I've seen on this film with her flimsy, Dawson's Creek, 'the man I loved' bullshit acting. Besides which Bruce Wayne/Batman never really did have a 'one' true love in the comics outside of Catwoman herself. I hope she doesn't bring this movie down in any way.
I'm out. -

The action scenes look repetitive and mundane...been-there-done-that type fare...The dialogue also seems a bit pretentious and high brow...I dont hear anything memorable thusfar...We will see what happens i guess.
-
The new trailer looks better than the previous ones. Finally, we get to see some action, and Gotham is starting to look good, less mundane than it has in the prior trailers. I am becoming more hopeful and excited about this movie.
-
This will so kick Revenge of the Shit's ass!!

Lord of the Rings isn't bigger then star wars, they are about on the same level. Oh yeah, and batman isn't bigger then either of them, he's a comic book character, and he happens to be the coolest one at that. Whole diffrent thing.
-
Some effer in a way early, circa first trailer post, hammered me for pointing out that Bruce takes some of his batsuit ideas from the warriors/clumsy ninjas he sees out on his odyssey to Tibet or wherever. Take a look at the gauntlets on the ninjas. See anything famaliar? Try not to look at the blooper...I win.

probably because his daddy made him play "find the happy snake" too many times.Learn a new tune already,Mack. No one cares about your opinion. You say the same thing every post. What do you hope to achieve by saying the same damn things about the movie you haven't even seen over and over and over. And now you are saying that whoever thinks this movie will be good isn't a true fan?! What kind of statement is that? Any true fan would see ANY batman movie just to give it a chance. But you know what? Even if this movie ROCKS (which it probably will)I know you won't admit you were wrong. Your ego is too big and your mouth is even bigger. So why don't you just shut your mouth until June 15. Or kill yourself. Either way we will all be happier.

Both IGN, Ain't it cool(yes, this site. and i don't mean the fake review),Batman on film, latino review, and many other respectable sites have given the script a great review. So I think I'll trust them over an annoying loudmouth tard like yourself. 'Nuff Said.

As in the movie written and directed by that guy who wrote 'Million Dollar Baby?' As in the movie with the tagline "everyone collides at the speed of life?" As in the movie where Don Cheadle drops pearls of wisdom like "we miss that touch so much we CRASH (ooh, see what he did there?) into one another just so that we can feel something?" No thanks. If you wanna sell the movie, you're gonna have to do better than "you all suck and that's why you won't have seen it." And, if you don't care enough to do anything remotely resembling that, then shut up about it. But what am I saying? We get it: your shit doesn't stink. Your schtick is about as interesting as this movie you've waged a holy war against.

Such a yooj phan. Katie Holmes is hot and has a great body; so what if sometimes she looks like a little kid? She's supposed to be the girl next door. With a great body. Bale's fine - the lispy accent's goofy, but he's physically perfect and I buy him as sufficiently obtuse and outsider-ish to make the character psychologically believable. I'm glad WB did not go with Gyllenhaal. The suit will always sacrifice a bit of functionality for the "look"; the guy's supposed to resemble a bat, for chrissakes. The tech is cool, but it's much more practical to confine the electro-fabric concept to the cape; it's supposed to transform from something flexible that drapes and flutters dramatically into a rigid flying wing. Current technology takes care of the bulletproof aspects of the suit itself. The trailers are great; I love the fact that the teaser didn't even hint that it was a Batman movie until the last few seconds, and I love even more that the final trailers give nothing of the actual plot away (other than the standard, well-worn pre-Goyer mythic elements). I even like the earth-toned color pallette. Kudos to the WB for staying the fuck out of Nolan's way. I'm looking forward to June 15.

Did anyone else notice that P.O.D. sounding BOOM when the Batmobile kicked up during the test drive? I think it's all just in my head. I really hope they didn't stoop that low when editing this trailer. That would hinder the trailer a little bit for me. Even more than Katie Holmes already does, but still excellent regardless.

Well, if you're looking for excitement, I guess you can't compete with a movie where Batman fights Alien. "Dead End" sucked too though.
-
You'll probably get some converts by the time this movie's been released. People are so deliriously optimistic about this that some of them are bound to be disappointed. I have my doubts for a lot of reasons that either you or other people have enumerated over and over again, so I'll lay off them because hey, if they wanna be excited, whatever. But if someone wants to know specifically what I think about it looks dodgy I'd be happy to tell them.
-
I'd rather not be Public Enemy No. 2, anyway, so I've got no problem with staying out of it.

Why don't we wait until the fucking movie comes OUT before we decide whether it's shit or roses? Just a thought, doncha know.....

as well as hoping the film will be a success. But unless you've actually SEEN the movie already, we're all basically just guessing on what it's going to be like. Frankly, I'd rather just see the damned thing and decide for myself.

I bet on it. People will laugh their ass out on the theaters when they watch this.
Some may even praise it as the movie's best scene.
I have not a single doubt about that. -
I don't see what all the hubbub is about. Looks pretty lame to me. Of course, I'm THRILLED they kept the big rubber cowl (how can he hear in that thing?) and, of course, the eye make-up... may as well have kept the nipples. Well, at least we have sin city.

First of all, I wasn't commenting on your post. I was talking about the entire argument going on; i.e. "it's gonna suck" "it's gonna rule" And moviemack, I've seen the same promotional materials and trailers that you have. I think they've actually done a good job with the trailers in NOT releasing the entire plot of the movie, as so many trailers now tend to do. I didn't read the script because I chose not to. Same reason I tend to avoid reviews with too many spoilers. What's the point of seeing the film if you already know what's going to happen in it? Seems rather redundant. Now, I'm not talking about repeated viewings of something that you enjoy, but why take away the experience of actually seeing something new?

They agree! They agree! Yaaaaaay! They agree! Durrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I read the leaked script and I think the leaked script sucked. I keep seeing these trailers and pictures that have all this shit that was in the awful leaked script I read. Harry says the Batman Begins script was good? So did IGN? Well, I'll bet Harry and IGN fucking LOVED Magnolia. I didn't. Does that make me wrong? Nooooo. It's called an opinion, fuckwit. Nobody is telling your naive ass to shut the fuck up because you think Batman Begins looks good. Teaching critical thinking skills in public schools is HIGHLY underrated. You can enjoy rubber suits, stupid looking unBatmobile, eye makeup and Batman's girlfriend all you like. I or moviemack isn't telling you to shut the fuck and stop being so positive. Sure, when the movie comes out, we'll see who's right. But to call for a hiatus on all discussions of the merits of an upcoming film until it is released is just absolutely, completely and undeniably retarded. You might as well expect Harry to cease with all movie news in lieu of a reviews only site.

No one who contributes to these AICN talkbacks will ever vanquish movimack and his mythological cantankerousness. Don't even try, people. Moviemack exists, he thinks, he has opinions, he won't ever be cowed into submission. He's a lot like Batman, in fact... maybe that's why he knows so much about the dark knight. Is moviemack the Batman of AICN talkbacks? Fighting to uphold truth and justice when every talkbacker is marshalling against him? Hmmm...
-
I agree with him and Mr Miracle regarding the recent footage. There's a whole lot of Goyer's script in those shots, I thought most of that crap was supposed to be purged? Someone at top said that this latest trailer should solidify how people feel about the film, he's right, I am now firmly embedded in the "meh" camp. I will give it to Nolan though, he sure is a capable director, but I got more thrills watching the "Grayson" fan trailer then anything I've seen from this production thus far.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH!!!! There! Dontcha feel GOOD?!? Is it all out of your system? All that fanboy "This-movie's-gonna-suck" hatred? Good. Hey moviemack, did you say, "See it or don't. Doesn't really matter."? Eh? That's kind of the point, isn't it? If you haven't seen it, YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT! You know damn well that there is a long list of movies where the promotional blitz (trailers, posters, etc.) and the actual movie sit at opposite ends of the Quality Scale. Real good trailer, crappy movie. Crappy trailer, real good movie. Hell, I've seen trailers where even the bits that worked in the trailer fell flat in the movie. So ultimately, it's the trailer that doesn't matter. You'll never know if the trailer truely represents the movie till you see it. And you WILL see it. Yes, that's right. One way or another this movie will get your dollar moviemack. Dispite all your belly-aching, you'll see it. If you don't see it in the theater, there's Blockbuster or Netflix. Even if you wait for HBO they'll still get you with that monthly cable bill. What's that? Not even HBO? Not a worry. Seven years from now you'll be surfing the cable channels on your X-BOX 720 (tm) and you'll run across Batman Begins on TBS-15. It's 11:30 pm and you're tired and you figure "Aw what the hell!" so you start watching it. 10 minutes into it they go to commercial and there you are, sitting in the middle of 12.1 THX 2 Hi-Def Sound in front of a 115 inch HD-TV screen watching that fucking CGI Geico (tm) gecko do the robot for a full 30 seconds. Now that my friend, is paying for it. Just go enjoy it at the movies instead.
-
OilCan, you're a clown. Who called you a Nazi in this talkback besides yourself? You brought up politics in a Batman Begins talkback for no reason other than to identify yourself as a Republican. And a "nazi fuck." Hey, you know what? I went to Oxford. Does that make me any more or less right than you? Nah. It just means I can say it on an internet bulletin board. I especially like how you call yourself "pro-gay" and then you imply that I have homosexual issues in my past, which you clearly meant as a negative. You're just like BroncoFan, in fact. I'd suggest that you two go out on a date together, but I know how against that you'll both be. Maybe not BroncoFan, though. He apparently wants me to be his bitch and gargle his throat yogurt and toss his salad, which sounds pretty gay.

I want to be excited about this film, but from all the trailers I've seen, this movie looks like a boring overcooked piece of dog shit. And when did Katie Holmes turn into a haggard dog? She used to be kinda cute. Shouldn't of made her the love interest.

Did I say that your problems with the film were't in the trailers? No. Learn to read, tard. I just said that I was tired of your relentless bitching and I think you need to watch the damn movie before you go on ranting. I also think that your opinion is just shitty anyway, so whether or not you read the script doesn't matter to me at all. I was just tired of going back and forth with you since your ego is so big that it doesn't even matter. Unlike you, I don't spend my whole day bitching about movies that I haven't seen on the internet. Just count how many posts you have on this talkback alone compared to everyone else's. Damn you're pathetic. To quote Ice-T "You're a punk, your daddy's a punk, and your mamma's a bitch". I wouldn't even talk to you if I wasn't sick of you shutting down everyone that doesn't agree with your opinion on the movie like a spoiled child. Just state you opinion and move on you funny man.

I was going to put in my two cents on a neglected subject: Scarecrow and how happy I am that he's being stuffed by Ireland's very own Cillian Murphy, soon to be seen as a transvestite in Neil Jordan's Breakfast on Pluto, which was shooting at my local pub here in County Wicklow. He's fantastic and can wipe the floor with Colin 'eyebrows' Farrell and his highlights.
Then I stumble over this insane moron Broncofan, who appears to spend most of his free time writing rubbish and getting booted off boards and then getting new handles and getting booted. Hs anybodt evetr had such a meaningless, pathetic existence? These boards are oceans of jabber, nobody reads them to learn anything. Broncofan, who sounds like a stalinist communist ('You are a disgrace to the party, you cowardly swine') spends his life shouting abuse into a black hole, usually off-topic.
Oh and I'm gay too (as is Colin Farrell, rumour has it) and I'm celebrating ten years of monogamous fun with my American boyfriend this July.
While Broncofan screams into the void, we spent the last three months in South America. Fuck him, everything he says reiterates his utter lack of anything resembling a life, sexual release or the presence of love between him and his parents when he was a baby. -
Sound. Just wondered.

Of course, that was before you posted the old testament.

I knew you were scum, but rabid dogs avoid Fred Phelps and his mad mad mad group.
And don't quote that silly book of sandbox myths at me. We've dumped the catholic Church here in Ireland, gay marriage should be on the statute books by early next year.
You are a loser, sir, a pitiful reactionary clown from a disfunctional family, pathologically addicted to flaunting your mental disorders in public, if one can call these babble-arenas 'public'.
And I'm happy, well-travelled, highly-educated, happily engaged and much in demand at parties. -

Don't closet homosexuals make the most virlent homophobes. They get aroused by the idea of other men's cocks, so they fixate on anal sex, particularly poop, in vain efforts to keep their chubbies down, conveniently ignoring the fact that 75% of anal sex is practised between men and women and is also desegnated as 'sodomy' by the bible, along with blow-jobs (male-female) and cunnilingus (male-female).
If you have any kind of a sex life worth boasting about, then you are off to hell. Of course, this doesn't apply to Broncoman, who is probably a lonely internet porn addict who has yanked himself sick five times already today. -
Leviticus 20:13 states: "If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they should surely be put to death....". The passage is surrounded by prohibitions against incest, bestiality, adultery and intercourse during a woman's period. But this verse is the only one in the series which uses the religious term abomination; it seems also to be directed against temple prostitution.
These passages are part of the Jewish Holiness Code which also:
permits polygamy
prohibits sexual intercourse when a woman has her period,
bans tattoos
prohibits eating rare meat
bans wearing clothes that are made from a blend of textiles
prohibits cross-breeding livestock
bans sowing a field with mixed seed
prohibits eating pigs, rabbits, or some forms of seafood
requires Saturday to be reserved as the Sabbath
Churches have abandoned the Holiness Code; it is no longer binding on modern-day Christians. They can wear tattoos, eat shrimp, wear polyester-cotton blends and engage in temple prostitution without violating this particular section of the Bible. Although this code is obsolete for Christians, many clergy still focus on those passages which deal with homosexuality.[1] -
See message above. You sad, risible little man.
-
Sorry, just realised that last post made litle sense. Didn't the filming of Breakfast on Pluto cause controversy when a priest allowed it to be filmed in his church? Cue irate and anonymous letters telling him he was going to hell to jion (the fictional character) Father ted. Great to be Irish.

Los Angeles is fertile ground for a movie about race, as Crash proves. But a better film was made 32 years ago
John Patterson

The Guardian
Collision course: Matt Dillon and Thandie Newton in Crash
The Flatlands, East LA, Chinatown, Koreatown, Thai Town, Little Tokyo, Little Armenia, Compton, Watts, South Central, Inglewood, Pico-Rivera, the Hollywood Hills, the Valley, Santa Monica, Venice. Unless you live in Los Angeles, these are merely place names. If you do live here, the names evoke something much darker than mere multicultural diversity: the patchwork mosaic of racial difference and division - produced over a century by a white-supremacist police force, aggressive gerrymandering, bone-deep institutional racism, and a real-estate culture long in thrall to the profits to be made from "white flight" - that has long made Los Angeles the most segregated and racially tense American city west of the Mississippi.
Article continues
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some of this complexity is to be detected in Paul Haggis's new movie Crash, in which every single encounter between the members of a large and diverse cast is predicated on one form or another of racial resentment, hatred or misunderstanding. The DA and his supremely uptight wife (Brendan Fraser and Sandra Bullock, the latter quite splendid) are carjacked by two ghetto boys (Larenz Tate and rapper Ludacris). Ludacris asks why people in an all-white neighbourhood should be afraid of them, the only black people in sight. "Why aren't we the ones to be afraid?" he asks. "Because we have guns," is Tate's memorable retort, and the jacking is under way.
Elsewhere Matt Dillon plays a racist cop who takes out his rage on a black TV director (Terrence Howard) and his light-skinned wife (Thandie Newton). Asians are all "Chinamen" to the carjackers, but a splenetic Korean woman threatens to "call immigration" on Jennifer Esposito's Puerto Rican detective, who's at odds with her lover, fellow cop Don Cheadle, for calling her "a white woman" and then "Mexican". Everyone's doing it, and it becomes wearying after a while, especially as almost every character finally undergoes a moment of clarity and attempts to mend his or her ways towards the end. Shallow points are made and remade, albeit often within beautifully written scenes of great dramatic power. In the end Haggis's dependence on a worldview exclusively, almost neurotically, defined by race begins to undermine all his points.
There was relief from all this to be found this week in a rare showing of Killer of Sheep, a movie made and shot entirely within Watts during the early 1970s by black director Charles Burnett. This is one of the most famous and well regarded of American "lost" movies - I've only ever seen it twice, 20 years apart - and it's never been properly released, as Burnett was unable to license his amazing soundtrack of gospel, R&B and soul classics.
Burnett was a film student at UCLA during the 1970s, and he made Killer of Sheep on weekends throughout 1972-3. He adapted the principles of Italian neo-realism to depict the neighbourhood he grew up in, casting amateurs and children, shooting in real places and seeking to make the film look as improvised and unscripted as possible, even though every shot was heavily predetermined. Never was a foreign filmic style so successfully redeployed as here: Watts in the years after the 1965 uprising was a field of rubble beset by the bitterest kind of poverty - all the result of the federal policy known, grotesquely, as "Benign Neglect". His Watts looks uncannily like parts of Berlin or Rome in Germany: Year Zero or Rome: Open City, destroyed already or on the verge of breaking down entirely.
Because its cast is all black, there is little in the movie about racism per se. Burnett merely observes, in his profoundly poetic manner, the consequences of being left behind, the factories gone, the black family undermined by poverty and a brutal environment. Stan, the title character, works in a slaughterhouse and Burnett subtly links the fate of the sheep he kills with the destiny of the people he lives among. Thom Anderson, who uses Killer of Sheep as the emotional and political climax of his essay-film Los Angeles Plays Itself, rightly speaks of the "incremental genocide of America's surplus former slave population" as the movie's real theme.
But its other theme, and one missing from Crash, is of stoic endurance as the anteroom to possible transcendence, and of the importance of tiny moments of happiness. Viewers will not soon forget the marvellous shot of children, seen from below, as they leap gracefully from the roof of one apartment building to another, or the shot of Stan dancing with his sexually frustrated wife as Dinah Washington sings This Bitter Earth. Burnett's combination of the raw and the tender summons Terence Davies to mind, or the overrated David Gordon Green, whose reputation will, I hope, deflate once his fans see how much he stole from Killer of Sheep for his George Washington.
This may happen soon, as Milestone Video is clearing the disputed music rights to facilitate a DVD release. Killer of Sheep would look good on a double-bill with Crash - as a deeply felt, pre-emptive retort to its simplistic race-based worldview and as a supremely moving piece of homemade African-American cinematic poetry.
-
...but it does sound like the kind of thing that might happen around here. Our local priests are a decent bunch, the one who named me has known about my sexuality for years and has always been a perfect gentleman. Oddly, though the Church is ever more conservative, individual priests can be quite maverick in their attitudes to women, gays and contraception. Just don't tell the bishop. there's really no grassroots opposition to gay union in Ireland, either from the Church or from society at large.
And they're not ALL paedos, not like this bunch:

Anyway, back to the Bat, isn't Gary Oldman supposed to be in this as well? Another snake-eyed psycho-genius, Murphy, Bale and he make quite a nice trio. Did you notice, in that harru Potter movie, that Cuaron had engineered a Mike Leigh reunion? I hadn't seen Gary Oldman, David Thewlis and Timothy Spall together for twenty years. Nice. -

Do you think that Vincent Gallo would actually get off his high horse long enough to participate in anything as relentlessly bourgoise as a BATMAN movie? He was pretty cool when his Brown Bunny film got slammed to smithereens and I think he may indeed be that most rare of combinations; a bundle of real talent almost insane with ambition.
I guess at least someone has to be American in these films. Otherwise I'd push Michael Sheen for the young Joker. Sheen (not Martin) was the vampire bad guy in the dreadful Underworld with Kate Beckinsale. He's a thin, transparent genius with eyes like Margaret Thatcher. Played a wonedrful caligula, an amazing Tony Blair and the best Hamlet of my lifetime so far. -

...for coming to the talkback. Seriously, I was going to waste a minute or two typing to moviemack about how scary he's starting to sound, what with all the fingers-in-his-ears "I don't care if I haven't seen it, I know I hate it and nothing could possibly change my mind!" ranting about Batman Begins he continues to do. But then I saw what a true idiot's rantings looked like and it reminded me that there are bigger problems to overcome in this world we share. So rant on, moviemack. It's your right and I respect that. But can we at least agree that someone in tight fitting pajamas or a rubber muscle suit should bend BroncoFan over a copy of the constitution and make him recite the preamble while buggering him with a fire snorting horse's cock? Either one of them can wear the burlap sack. The overall effect would still be sublime.
-
Wasn't the vampire bad guy in Underworld Bill Nighy? I remember so little of that film, bar the disappoinment at how shit the hybrid looked in the end. And being bored.
-
The thiong about Michael Sheen, apart from possibly being the best classical actor of his generation, is that he barely needs make-up to play the joker, apart from the huge, apparently lidless eyes and the translucent skin, his head actually tapers dramatically towards his pointed chin and his over-sculpted little girl's mouth has an nasty habit of cracking open into a wide sharkish grin, a wall of slightly stained English teeth.
And he's exactly the right age, about ten years older than Bale.

Night falls along a dark city street, and man sits in his office after hours posting to AICN. Internet bad guys send barrage after barrage of angry, "you suck!" sentiment his way, but as clouds roll in over the city and it starts to rain, the man in the dark city office takes on all comers, swinging his verbal blows and lances until the bad guys give up and go to bed, signing off for the night. At 3 am, having defeated his enemies, the man stands and peers into a mirror hanging on his office wall. He approaches his reflection quietly, oozing dark stealth, until his face is backlit by lights along the street outside. He turns suddenly, gazing out upon the city, and says, "I'm Moviemack."

Didn't get on the site yesterday, came back, checked this article to see if anyone had anything interesting to say. Of course not. Just the usual. More trolling. More flaming. More increasingly tired and unfunny political tirades and the nonstop rants of pathetic self-hating losers who have lost the ability to truly enjoy and feel positive about anything. I had to skip every other post just to find anything reading at all. There's no actual discussion here anymore. No logical debate. No sharing of ideas. Just a buch of fat sad losers masturbating onto their keyboards. If Harry has any balls, he'll shut this ufkcing shithole down on May 19 after it's reason for being is finally released, and you can all go back to the crumbling shambles of what used to be your lives. *** By the way, to stay somewhat on topic, I quite liked this latest trailer. This movie looks to live up to the promise of its cast, its writer and its director, and seems to reverse many of the sins of the past four films. I hope this franchise gets turned around, because the potential is there for a great series. I was firmly in the Crispin Glover camp, but ever since someone brought up Ed Norton, that all I can picture. They should stick to casting actors who seem to fit the part and can actually act. And Norton hasn't been doing anything of note lately, so he may jump at the chance to play such an iconic character.
-
...but it's also the truth: you can't dedicate as much time to slandering people on talkback as someone like Moviemack does, and actually get real pussy, too. I should know, I used to play this little game with you guys, and then I got kicked off AICN months ago, and now I get pussy with alarming frequency. Harry did me a favor by banning me. Moviemack, if this movie offends you so deeply, why don't you go spend your time on something actually worthwhile? Read a book that doesn't have Batman on the cover, talk to a girl that's not related to you... give the talkback a rest.
-
instead of shutting down this talkback because of all the morons who simply troll and insult. how about setting it up so its impossible to swear. at the very least it'll show how intelligent they really are if they have to use real words to talk and even simply to insult. it could be funny.

That was some funny shit. Seriously, for AICN's 10th anniversary a book needs to be published, namely Geek Apocalypse: Ten Years of Talkback. Imagine opening such a weighty tome before a crackling fire, chuckling at the rosy memories summoned by the collected wisdom of fettastic, MinasTirith, Cocolopez and moviemack. And then throwing the book on the fire.

This is a movie website. Don't you think what you're doing here is inappropriate. You should join a Neo-Nazi website with a chat room. You'd probably be more comfortable.
To write 50 posts about why you hate homosexuals in a talkbalk forum for a trailer for a new Batman movie. Pathetic. Your life must be pretty sad.
-
I throw in the occasional post in a quiet moment. What the hell do some of you frequent posters -- I won't name nicks, but you are clear as glass -- do with your lives? It's a fucking MOVIE! Also, no one cares what you think of homosexuals bedroom activities or political views, BroncoFan. Why do you feel the need to toss your opinions about on what is supposedly a movie discussion board?
-
The overwhelming majority of pedophiles are heterosexual. Pedophilia is like all sexual abuse -- it's not really about the abuser's pleasure. It's about POWER.

1. It's funny that a supporter of Bush should call his opponents fascists. Fascism is a system in which all are expected to agree with the government, supposedly for the good of all. Those who do not face social and legal penalties. Bush said, if you're not with us, you're with the enemies. That is fascism. 2. Bush's presidency was due 100% to the courts making law: The Supreme Court had NO authority in the case, and even if it did, four of the nine justices should have recused themselves because of monetary or direct political ties to Bush. 3. Prove God exists. Show your work. You have 15 minutes and may not refer to the Bible as a primary source. 4. If Heaven is reserved for people who "accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior," I'd rather hang out in Hell with the billions of charitable, wonderful non-Christians who were unjustly condemned by God.

Check it out. You have to click on the file icon and let it download. But I'd be happy if somebody else wanted to host it in a way that was less, well, retarded:

If you back up to the parent folder, there's another version up because someone suggested it.

Um... okay...

See, I just want to make two points. Number one, if I ever saw you running towards my car, I'de fucking pull out a taser and shock your ass, and two, the bible also tells you to stone anyone who works on sundays. So using a book that was clearly written by a bunch stupid old men as your moral grounds is something you might want to think about. Just a thought anyways.
-
All this guy wants is attention. Just stop replying to him and he will get bored and go away.
Hey BroncoFaggot, why don't you get a fucking life? I bet you've never even kissed a girl. -
your totally right, I second the motion to have no one respond to bronco fan.
-
Roid pushing bastard.
-
You call order people faggots?
-
I have a bad feeling about this movie. I don't think any film will ever capture the noir-feel of the comic book. That's part of what makes it so great, and helps it to stand out against the squeaky-clean DC line-up of superheroes.
-
You forgot to mention that your also a lier. Thanks for calling my tiny and scrawny, btw. Usually the opposite of what I hear.
-
It's easy to say that anyone who claims to get our their car and beat people up is on roids. That's called roid rage.
-
I love how easily your kicking his ass with one liners. Oh and Bronco Bitch, I can deny the crap you just stated.
-
...that your parents fucked you up so profoundly. I would've apologized sooner, but I wasn't through shitting myself (that happens when I laugh too hard sometimes). I'll pass on the Internet porn images of you lubing up for your latest ass fucking, though. Dudes just aren't my thing. Like you so eloquently pointed out, I'm a pussy boy. I dig pussy. Again, sorry. But don't worry, I'm sure you'll find someone who shares your fondness for rough man sex. After all, with a winning attitude like yours, who could resist? Take care, now, tough guy.
-
I find it hilarious that he can be so anti homosexual when he talks about licking his ass and claims to be a bodybuilder.
I'm sure all the ladies love your oiled up body, muscle shirt, and ass hugging short shorts. -
I love how you call this thread "dead" and loudly declare how you won't be coming back, and sit waiting in the dark of your humble abode, hugging your scrawny knees and hoping nobody will address your patently lucicrous, nursery school, king-of-the-sandbox claims of being Humongous, Warrior of the Wasteland. Even funnier is when you then gradually reduce yourself with each additional post to a quivering, infantile and plainly laughable wreck, furiously masturbating to your own compulsively sex-fixated posts. That's the only bicep-enhancing exercise you take part in, chief -- that is, apart from hanging around amusement parks and jacking carnies off for Pez. Don't fool yourself for even one second that we believe anything else.
-
...the only "roid rage" BroncoHam suffers from is of the hemmorhoidal variety.
-
Hey there BroncoFaggot... Does anybody like you? Probably not. How do you account for your behavior here. Is this something a healthy person would do? No. That's cause your a fucking pathetic sack of shit.
Who the hell would want to be around you? No one. You don't matter. You don't count. Nobody loves you. You're just a pathetic TROLL on a talkbalk forum for a fucking Batman movie. Deal with it.
You're probably right about one thing. The whole world does hate you. -
...he makes me laugh. He's like a clown who'slost his little clown car keys and is raging all around the Big Top in an effort to find them. His frustration amuses me. And as for fucking my mother, that explains his issues some. I'd imagine the trauma of digging her up and gratifying his wee willy with her decomposed remains was just a little much for his fragile mind to cope with. Good to know the old gal can still leave 'em stupid with pleasure, though, even ten years in the ground. Now be sure to wash up, tough guy.
-
This movie will be great!
Now all I need to be happy is a tripod pick and a King Kong trailer -
How long did it take you to think of that? I've been called some pretty childish and lame things, but..my God..you may be at the top of the heap.
I really doubt that you know what faggot means. You call people it then you tell others to eat your ass and want to show us pics of your arm. I think all the supposed muscle is getting to your brain. -
BroncoFAGGOT says "I am a muscle bound giant of a man"
What a jack ass. -
How'd you get out?! It's time for your meds!
-
We don't care what you look like. Okay, Freak?
Muscles or no muscles. NOBODY GIVES A FUCK! Why would that impress us? Maybe the other homos at the gym care how big your biceps are.
Either this whole act of yours is a joke, or you really need to be on medication.
-
...at least my balls won't shrivel up.
-
Clearly, you have not yet taken your meds! Back in the straightjacket! How am I gonna explain to the warden that you got out again? Jeez Louise, you freaks make my job harder everyday...
-
Typing to me, specifically, is a waste of your time, BroncoFan? Jesus... that one cuts me to the quick. I mean, here you are, willing to go on and on for pages and pages about how big your muscles are and how you could kick all the ass in assland and how homosexuals make you question your masculinity even more than not being able to find your own penis and every other fucking thing that pops into that pea brain of yours, but you can't be bothered to spare anymore half-witted insults or empty threats for yourold buddy Roland? I'll be honest: It hurts my feelings, Bronc. I thought we were becoming close when you offered to send me those nude pictures of yourself.
-
I'm sure you would love one of us to take you up on the webcam offer, but if it's all the same to you I'd rather not accept and be greeted by a close-up of your undoubtedly puny organ or a looped clip of one of your own body-building cybersex buddies which you will claim is footage of you. Besides, it's irrelevant. The fact remains that you are lying -- either about the fighting or the body-building, because as anyone who's actually been in a real fight with one of those beef narcissists knows, body-builders CAN'T fight.
-
Bronco, what Doc says above is so true, body builders can't fight. I'm not big, nor will I ever claim to be, but even if everything you say about fighting and your size is true, I and I'm sure many other members of this site could fuck you up. but you did say one thing that is true, and a fact that you are so intent on. You do need to calm the fuck down, you republican hick.
-
Sure send us a pic of your arm. And then you'll probably send one of your meaty thigh and accidentally send pics of your buns of steel. I don't need a brainless internet stalker right now.
-
Do you also do a funny dance like Batista?
-
It's true.
-
...let's humor you and assume you are what you say you are, BroncoFan. I'm a little confused here; you say you don't take steroids, so what's all this nonsense about the medication that "makes [you] fearless and gets [you] into trouble sometimes" and it burning when you pee?
-
http://raincloud.warnerbros.com/wbol/uk/movies/batman_begins/F4/batman_begins_tlrf4_qt_500.mov
put that in the browser to get right to the trailer or even save it, muhahaha. This movie will rock. -
Oh yeah, Scarecrow looks like the original good ol' Leatherface in that suit. Anyone who disses that snappy suit has no sense of style.
-
Mack, lets face it, we both know why you hate this movie so much. Its because Alfred lacks his signature mustache, and that shit just isn't true to his legacy in the comics. haha, you know its true.
And Mack-o, honestly, you're going on and on about how we don't have the "amazing, Billion dollar grossing Batman phenomenon" that we could have had. Its odd how you equate the worth of a movie with how much money it makes. I'd stick to critical fanboy complaints if I was in your position.
Now, several things you complain about are enjoyable in many forms of Batman's history. You complain that *SPOILER* "Batman says he'd give it all up to be with Katie Holmes". He did this same thing in fan favorite MASK OF THE PHANTASM, and there's nothing wrong with a just-starting Batman having other things on his mind than being a crime-fighting badass. Lighten up, ombre. -
I'd never show my face again, let alone my oiled pecs.
I wonder have his testicles atrophied yet?
