A Review Of Fox
SPOILER ALERT !!
I am – Hercules!!
Fox hasn’t aired a new “Family Guy” since Valentine’s Day 2002, but begins its revival May 1, 2005.
What follows is the first of the 7,000 reviews of the episode we’ve received since the episode hit the bittorrents hours ago. (Remember, though, kids, that 20th Century Fox is an MPAA member and the MPAA is suing for many thousands of dollars those - and the parents of those - who trade movies and TV shows online without the permission of the license-holder. So be careful - unless you want mom and dad to have to take out a second mortgage to compensate the studios for your "free" copy of "Family Guy"!)
Curiously, this isn’t the show’s only lengthy hiatus from Fox, which broadcast no new episodes between Aug. 1, 2000 and July 11, 2001.
Here’s “Jonny H”:
Hey Harry,
Long time reader, first time writer blah blah
The first episode of Family guy, Season four has been leaked onto the
internet and being the raging fan that I am, I couldn’t wait to get
my
grubby paws on the thing and had to download (Something which is very
naughty I know, but worthwhile!)
Warning: spoilers ahead
The episode is called “North by North Quahog”, basic plot premise:
Lois and Peter go on a road trip to try put the sexual spark back
into
their relationship and on their travels come across a copy of a film
which Peter decides has to be destroyed (Passion of the Christ 2).
Whilst this is happening Brian and Stewie have to look after Meg and
Chris back home.
I can safely say the episode is fantastic, hilarious and as per usual
up to the superb standard this programme has set. Highlights for me
include,
The trailer for the passion of the Christ 2 starring Chris Tucker.
(The film is set out as an action film, 2 fast 2 furious esque with a
bad-arse Jesus shooting people)
The scene involving Pinnochio (gay innuendo, always hilarious)
Stewie and Brian playing the role of parents
The return of the black news reporter (I’ve forgot his name! L )
“it’s
gonna rain” was his memorable line from his last appearance, and
there
are a few other surprise cameos who I won’t reveal here
Overall a very satisfying episode and impossible to hate, die hard
fans should love it
Jonny H
p.s Living in the Uk I feel I have a right to download this
programme,
it won’t be on Tv over here for ages!
9 p.m. Sunday. Fox.

Great episode, everbody download it now.

As far as Family Guy episodes go, this one was pretty bland. The Passion of the Christ 2 trailer was really dumb; they could have come up with something better than an action movie. The Stewie/Brian subplot was not clever or really funny at all, except for that one moment when Brian says "Upside-down face" and Stewie slowly turns to face him. Otherwise, rubbing his butt on the carpet, not funny. Talking like a couple in bed, not funny. Spanking Chris, not funny. The whole North By Northwest parody at the end was nice and all, but I didn't really laugh at the jokes. "Don't worry, Lois, I put a turd in the reel" is not really clever or funny. Maybe they'll do better next time.
-
Same jokes as always, good but not great. I laughed, but only because they recreated the exact same show, the only problem is 3 years later the jokes aren't as funny, cause i have seen them a hundred times
-
C'mon, that was funny, I don't care who you are.

Nice to see that Family Guy is still doing what it does best: ripping off plotlines from old Simpsons episodes. Can't wait to see if Lois still has that gambling problem. I don't completely hate Family Guy, I just think that the show is pure evil and must be stopped. Although I'd watch a hundred episodes before watching one more of American Dad. I can't believe that we might lose Arrsted Development to this crap.
-
I just had 11 drunken friends back here in my apartment watching the new episode... GREAT! SO much belly laughter and rewinding to get the jokes we missed laughing at the first ones! Be honest. When was the last time you laughed out loud at a Simpsons episode. As much as I love them, it was years ago. Now the Simpsons is just a comfortable blanket of smiles I wrap around myself every Sunday night. This? THIS is the laugh out loud "I can't believe they DID that!?' kinda fun I wanna watch! I can't wait for MORE!!!!

And when that direct-to-dvd "Family Guy Movie" is released, I'm hoping it'll have one of the "Family Guy Live" cast readings as a bonus feature.

Hello.
To all those people who hated the episode: you have to admit the beginning scene where Peter tells the family they are cancelled to be replaced with a LOOOONG laundry list of shows that Fox actually had made and dropped was funny as hell. I had forgotten how many shows, good and bad, Fox has abandoned over the last couple years. -

Funny, funny, stuff. If Family Guy can keep pumping out lines like that then I'll be tuning in forever. -
hey anyone know anyone good bittorrent sites that i can download this (and/or other) episodes from? Or can we not discuss this here?

I read somewhere that they were planning on doing a completely adult rated R film or Extended DVD.

I just rewatched that episode the other day. I can never quite decide if I find the old man who loves the paperboy's muscley arm very funny or very, very creepy in a Michael Jackson way. Why can't it be both?
http://thefount.blogspot.com/ -
I never liked it, but never hated it either. But now that we have so many whiny little bitches here moaning about how ANY FUCKEN SHOW that replaces it is nothing short of crap... well, fuck it then.
I dont care how "smart" a show is, if its not pulling in an audience every week it will get fucked in the ass. So fuck your little "smarty-witty-but-nobody-fucken-cares" boring show. Fuck it all the way to cancellation hell. Bitches!! -
I think that sad old fuck is funny because he is creepy. With that loon, you can't have one without the other. "Get your fat ass back here." Heh.
-
I want more episodes, I need more episodes. I crave more episodes. I want them all on DVD now. I demand the dvds, and I want American Dad cancelled. We need an opening joke for the next episode
-
I wonder how quick a studio would be to sue you for BitTorrenting episodes instead of watching them when broadcast if you have a Nielsen diary and were recording each Torrented show in it?

I invented ripping people off, Robin. Hoo hoo.

Baby cancer.
-
Dude, it's nuts. It's insane!Boston!
-
Just an absolute abortion. Fox brought this back? That network has lost its damned mind...
-
I have the second week in July in the Family Guy gets canceled again pool.
Come on Fox! -
I like people who freely admit to having no concept of satire or irony. "Bring back TRULY funny shows like Friends," they'll say. *shudder* As for "cancellation", they're under contract for the next TWO YEARS (that was the agreement or Seth refused to sign), so we'll have plenty. I DO think American Dad will be cancelled soon, though.
-
Family Guy Haters or Star Wars Apologists. They both, to steal a phrase from Patton Oswald, "Smell like sad pizza."
-
...the occasional plot point or basic premise from a Simpsons show (and when the Simpsons have been around so long that they're even ripping themselves off, like with that "future" episode a couple of weeks ago, how can that be avoided?), but they handle it completely differently. And the way they handle it makes me laugh louder and harder than any Simpsons episode has in the last ten years. I think most of the unbridled hate for this show must come from lifelong Simpsons fans who recognize that their beloved franchise has become the Chevy Chase of animated comedy... increasingly unfunny to the point where it's just sad. I'll agree that American Dad does suck ass, though. It must be where Seth works out his dumbest ideas, saving the gems for Family Guy. If pressed, though, I'd take Arrested Development over Family Guy. I really hope that comes back.
-
1st, because i don't like family guy. 2nd, at least Family Guy haters have (hopefully) seen the show and made a decision for themselves. while SW apologists behave like battered women. "You don't know him like I know him! He's a good man! He bought me dinner on my birthday once! It's gonna get better. He hit me, but promised it won't happen again! Sure, he said that the first two times..."
-
I maintain that Episodes 1 and 2 would have been much much better received, reviewed, and appreciated, had they not had to live up to the impossible bar and standard of 4, 5, and 6. I disliked them both, too, when I first saw them (except for the Yoda battle), but they're better when you step back and treat them as separate, made from scratch movies. Fun, like The Fifth Element, not "important".
-
Didn't anyone find it Ironic that in the opening Peter complains about being cancelled for all these other shows, yet isn't Aressted development getting cancelled becuase of a retarded Family Guy abortion called American Dad
-
It hasn't been renewed, either. Those announcements will come later on next month. Until then, quit yer bitchin'.

im gonna wait till may 1st cuz i decided that with the career path that i am going, i may have to stop d/l movies/tv shows off mere principle. But the episode sounds great. Simpsons has (hate to say this) definately jumped the shark. They jumped it a while ago actually. The reign of Homer is over...sadly. Has been over. Im not hating on the simpsons...im just embarrased for all of the newer eps. They arent very good.
-
But I suppose that is the family guy way, stuff as many in as possible and see what sticks (a formular that people seem to hate in live action comedy). I have seasons 1-3 on DVD (i am a fan) but I didn't think that was a great ep by any stretch of the imagination. Much better than American Dad though.

by frankdrebin
When (not if) you see KUNG-FU HUSTLE, look for the scene where Chow challenges a little kid from the back of a crowd to a fight. When the kid steps out front, he's like a miniature Schwartzenegger. That's what Yoda 2.0 reminds me of. It's like they cg'd Yoda's head onto Joe Piscopo's body.
-
So, let's join forces and make sure THAT show gets canned.
-
I highly doubt that THAT is true. It's been confirmed that Fox's new president, Ligouri is a huge AD fan, he even launched the whole getarrested.com website and the media blitz that went on for the show (commercials that cross-promoted it with 24 and the Simpsons) towards the end of the season. At this point, as E Online has pointed out, the show will only be cancelled if Murdoch for some reason is entirely against, which I don't see happening. Things look good for a renewal, but this news post in no way convinces me, and even E Online has made mistakes (remember when they confirmed that Angel had signed on for a season 6?)
-
Wrong thread for my Arrrested Development post.
-
Family Guy is far from genius, but anyone who says it's the worst show ever is just being ignorant. I agree, it is highly derivative of The Simpsons, but I would argue that recent seasons of The Simpsons are derivative of Family Guy. They both seem to be trying to one-up each other, squeezing as many punch-lines and pop-culture references as possible into a half hour show, at the expense of plot and characters. But a lot of those punch-lines and pop-culture references are funny, to myself and apparently lots of other people.
To disagree is natural. Most shows and movies discussed in these forums are polarizing, the viewer either 'gets it' or doesn't. That's why we love these shows, because they're not for everyone. According to Jim is for everyone, that's why it sucks so hard.
What's the point in labeling a show 'the best' or 'the worst'? The question is too subjective to answer. Why hate?
This is my first post ever and I know trying to deflate the hate is probably a futile endeavor. I for one will do my part by not posting on stories about shows or movies I flat out don't like. Hopefully one other person will do the same, and so on and so forth until we're all singing Michael Finnigan around the campfire... that'd be sweet. -
I enjoy "Family Guy", "Star Wars", and "Arrested Development". But, Jar Jar blows.
-
The bring up something interesting. If there was an animated sitcom that was more family friendly, they would give it more praise for obvious reasons. This clearly demonstrates a lack of good family sitcoms out there. Now don't get me wrong, I love raunchy shows like 'Family Guy', and 'Married With Children', but there hasn't been a good family sitcom on the mainstream networks since 'ALF'. I'm not gonna include 'Full House' since it spawned the 'evil' Olsen Twins!
-
Making family guy possibly the only thing to mention that show besides Herc since it was on the air!!! Herc, its like a kindred spirit!!!
-
I really liked this episode. The animation has been raised to another bar, and that point is proven when Peter keeps trying to read the comics and when they are driving inside the mall.
The comic thing was so hilarious. I had to rewind it and watch it again, I was laughing so hard. Brilliant episode.
I think the Brian-Stewie storyline worked well but that the Mel Gibson storyline was a little forced. -
if any of you out there are nip/tuck fans like your truly, you'd know what i mean. those assclowns were trying to get it cancelled because of all the sex and whatnot.
jesus. that slogan "because our children are watching" always cracks me up. your a-hole kids wouldn't be watching smut if you jerks would get your rear-ends off the computer and shut the bloody tv off. be a real parent for god sakes, don't blame the media for your god-awful parenting skills.
WURD!
ps- family guy rules. -
Family guy is always fucking funny. Period. Everyone tries and knock it by saying it stole from the Simpsons.
#1. Family Guy is consistently funny. Since season 4-5 The Simpsons has more misses then hits.
#2. Family situations are always going to be recycled. Simpsons copied married with children and even...FAIRY TALES! So quit bitching that Family guy follows a similar formula they all do.
My suggestion if you don't like the show is to not fucking watch it. -
Actually, as a parent, I agree with the PTC. Don't let the kids watch, have them go outside and get some exercise (gasp) while mom and dad watch a fantastic show that is intended for adults only.
-
I'm sorry you suck at your jobs. Moreover, I'm sorry that you don't know how to work the remote. TV is not going to cater to your every whim because you can't tell a DVD from a disco ball to begin with. People like you are the reason most DVD releasess are cropped, and have worthless kiddie games on them that noone is gonna play more than once. People like you are the reason why 4Kids Entertainment has to dumb down anime. People like you are the reason why Hilary Duff, and Linsay Lohan have careers. People like you are the reason why the FCC has become more strict on the broadcast networks. People like you are the reason why N*SYNC was successful, but i doubt you'll change your ways after Justin Tinkerbell rripped a breast plate off infront of the kids. When you realize that the TV is not a babysitter, call me.
-
You want original adult themed comedy in animation that doesn't cater to the lowest common denomonator?
Don't watch family guy or american dad both are written by retards for retards & the simpsons continues to jump the shark week after week (Matt put it out of its misery alreay!).
Tune into adult swim and give your brain a treat for a change. Sealab 2021 genius. Aqua Teen Hunger Force genius. Robot Chicken almost genius. -
I really liked the PTC review of that episode for all the wrong reasons, it was so descriptive it made me laugh out loud. I actually want to see this episode more because of them. Dumb ass Nazis
-
And a That's My Bush DVD set, and a Hail to the Chief DVD set. Those are my top three. :)
-
I don't know about you, but 'Family Guy' is far from being made for retards by retards. If you ask me, Geico commercials earn that title for their sheer stupidity!
-
Was genius! I have watched that scene alone over 20 times. "You can't eat all those hamburgers! He's gonna do it! Oh he's so RIDICULOUS! You hear me, you ridiculous man?!?"
-
...Jim... Cas... Cavs.... Caveezel? Is that it? The guy from the first one? hehehehehe
-
I don't think the Simpsons has ever done anything as funny as when Peter was trying to feed Tom Selleck tomato soup. And I love the Simpsons.
-
this episode was fuckin hilarious!
-
i have no idea how or where to download family guy and i'm desperate.
