i'm not sure but i believe there was a rumour many many years ago that there would be someone who pretended to be Stanley Kubrick. well perhaps it was not a rumour but in fact true (i am not very familiar about it)
But i don't think this film takes this background and tries to tell the "true" story but just take this basic idea and make a funny movie.
But as i say i don't know for sure.

    "I'm Stanley Kubrick"

    by moviemaniac-7

Funny as hell. And it's directed by a close associate of Kubrick, so I think Kubrick himself would have appreciated this one.

oh yeah... that rings a bell. now i remember reading something in the newspaper (how old school!) about a guy pretending to be him and getting away with it due to not many people knowing what Kubrick actually looked like cos he was such a recluse. the imposter go into lots of film parties etc. so yeah, i guess this film was inspired by that.

    It's a fucking remix!

    by dbtayag

They took a remarkable grandiose song (Jonathan Elias' "Movement III: Hope") and fucking remixed it with electric guitars and crashing drums! Horrible, just plain horrible. And people, that's not Lisa Gerrard on vocals, it's Alanis Morissette. Trust me. I have the original song.

Whoa. That looks seriously strange. And seeing as I'm a fan of all things seriously strange, I can't wait to see it. "I'm Stanley Kubrick!" Sweet.

There was a man passing himself off as Kubrick...

    by derubermax

I remember reading about a gentleman that was a con artist and told people he was Stanley Kubrick to get free meals, free tickets to plays and movies, etc. The con artist was also a homosexual that would use this particular con to get into the pants of some potential young "actors". I wonder if they will portray this side of the story?

I belive this movie is about that very man. I remember reading about this way back when it was in development. Odd. Malkovitch looks as much like Kubrick as Stanley Tucci. Then again, he doesn't have to look like him. The dude who was impersonating Kubrick didn't look like him either. This film looks odd and depressing.

You know the American trailer could never be as cool as this

    by maxcalifornia.

This is how you market a movie! Who wants to bet that the inevitable trailer that plays in US theaters is dull as hell. And I love how MALKOVICH is name-above-the-title status for the French trailer.

I love how this plays exactly like a Kubrick trailer

    by maxcalifornia.

Most of Kubrick's trailers were short and to the point just like this, I'm sure ya remember the EWS trailer that was just Cruise and Kidman making out for a minute. And yes it is based on a true story of a bloke called Alan Conway, there's an article about him here : http://www.sundaytimes.co.za/1999/03/28/lifestyle/life02.htm
