Harry here again - just got sent this photo of Ryan Reynolds in the HOUSE OF FLIES - now - many of you are wondering about the danger - the horror of the room... well - Flies carry disease like I carry Twinkies. It's horrifying! To prove the ick factor - behold the cringing star:
Hey folks, Harry here... Yesterday was the Special AICN Screening of AMITYVILLE HORROR with Ryan Reynolds - and 25,000 Flies! The event came off fantastic. I'll be writing up my review tonight, for now I've got to work on my British Show, followed by some Producer duties. But after that I'll get my review out. The short? I really liked it quite a bit. There's several things it does better than the original, the only disappoint me for me was the level of involvement by the Priest - However, Ryan Reynolds, them kids and THE BABYSITTER more than made up for it. Best Babysitter in the history of film.
This is more about THE HOUSE OF FLIES! The 25,000 Flies were in fine buzzing form. You should've seen all the terrified boys, whom's dates had to reassure them and screw their courage to the sticking place. At one point in the line there was a group of about 11 ladies in a row lined up to enter a room with 25,000 flies... this was perhaps the most William Castle that I've felt in a long time... I was telling them to pinch their noses shut, cuz flies are known in massive hordes like this to lay eggs in the nostrils, that they do it very quickly. Then if you breathe in, the egg takes root in your lungs... so be careful. Heh. Oh it was grand! Fantastic I tell you! The following video was shot by Doc Falken, the resident tech fiend here at AICN. It's rough, but it'll give you a rough idea of what it was like in the chamber!

And how many of these flies were cultivated off of Harry? Or, to a lesser extent, the other fanboys in attendance? I'm sure once they all got together at one location, catching 25,000 flies must have been easy. I'm just wondering how they got rid of the other 75,000 that were undoubtedly drawn toward the fanboy stench, not to mention the reek of Harry himself...

Geez, you get promised 25,000 flies, man, you want 25,000 flies! When did they shoot the video -- after half the flies slipped out with the visitors? It was like watching video of an Alabama attic shot in early May when the hatchlings pop out... and I can LIVE that experience. (BTW, the entire AMITYVILLE HORROR thing is a freakin hoax. Always was. I can't believe they're still beating this dead horse after all these years! Are the Lutzes still getting paid???)

It WAS House of 25,000 Ladybugs down here! They swarmed and bred like nuts during Indian Summer in February, and they were EVERYWHERE. You'd look up at the flourescent lights and see 500 dead ladybugs and 100 live ones weakly crawling among them. And then you would realize that was the most interesting thing happening at the meeting...

As much as i hate to see people trolling for the sake of it, since when has AICN gone around deleting posts that are in some way cynical or critical? Just because someone thinks the house of flies looks like a shit gimmick, well, that's their opinion..they're entitled to it. If this is going to be site policy from now on i'd hate to be the poor bastard that has to wade through the countless posts each day criticising Harry, Mori, Quint and Co...it's going to be a fucking long and tedious job. One things for sure though, these talkbacks are going to get a shit load shorter.

Thought the remake was pretty good until the last 15 minutes....

...then it got a bit "confused" as film. It's like it was looking for a massive payoff and went the Hollywood route last minute (quick cuts/horror and torture scenes etc). The cast was great, the house was cool and the scares were decnt enough. Overall I would say it's a better film than the original as far as replay value goes. Still prefer the "Dawn" remake, but this is still a fairly solid film. GREAT PRANK : If you saw the new Amityville film with a loved one and you are out for the night, turn their radio alarm to a "static" setting/station and have it go off at 3:15am. It's a riot!

I didn't see Blade 3, but holy christ Ryan Reynolds has an impossibly beautiful body. As for the movie, I enjoyed it, but my friend who adores the original hated it. I did wonder why they *SPOILER* escaped by boat though. Did something happen to the care and I missed it? *END SPOILER WHICH I KNOW YOU READ ANYWAY*
