Now, here's an interesting X3 casting rumor...

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a nice X3 rumor for today. This is not confirmed, nor is it even known what character this actor is supposedly up for. I'm posting this because of two reasons: 1) The source is reliable (yes, even with a name like sickhang) and 2) There's a relationship with this actor and the new director, Matthew Vaughn.

Hey Harry, long time no speak.  Anyway, I don’t know what this means, or if it means anything at all, but Vinnie Jones is now up in the X-Men 3 production office.

Considering Matthew Vaughn was producer on both SNATCH and LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS, both of which featured the badass that is Vinnie Jones, I'd say this isn't too far out of the realm of possibility. But who would he be playing? Surely not Beast... Gambit? Hrmm... I quite like the idea of Sawyer from LOST as Gambit... Vinnie Jones is such a hard-ass... He'd make a good villain... BUT WHO!

This is a total rumor, but I thought I'd throw it out at you folks and see what you think. There a tons of reasons why Vinnie Jones would be "up in the X-Men 3 production office," but it's still interesting, no?

If they do Dark Pheonix he could be in the Hellfire Club

    by ChorleyFM

Don't know which one he would be. Big enough, but not charismatic enough for Shaw. Not as much of a sleaze as Mastermind (I think that was that dudes name, the one who made people see stuff). I can't remember the other guy, but I think he was the White King, could be that.

I hope this is just a rumour triggered by a sighting. Vinnie Jones was a second rate footballer and a fifth rate celebrity. He is not an actor. Despise this cockney thug worship. Fucking pretend hooligans have no place in a decent comicbook franchise. And as always....John Favereau, Oliver Platt, Vincent D'onofrio, Angus McFadden or Joaquin Phoenix for Beast.

The guy f'ing sucks. He can't act for crap sticks. If this is a casting choice then nice one Vaughan you fucking hack.

    Hahahahaha Vinnie Jones hahahahahaha

    by bigjeffrey

He's been trying to carve out a decent career in acting ever since people said he "wasn't that shit" in Lock Stock. And he absolutely smacks of desperation these days. He obviously made some contacts in Hollywood after buddying up with Bruckheimer in Gone in 60 Seconds, palling up with Pitt in Snatch and cleaning Travolta's shoes in Swordfish, and has been squeezing them for all they're worth since. This would be ok, if he wasn't one of the most arrogant, thuggish, obnoxious figures in british popular culture. I think X-Men fans are safe though. Chances are he's popped over to the X-Men 3 office from his rented L.A pad to simply have a nosy around and beg Vaughn for a part. Can't see Caspar Matthew De Vere Drummond (Matthew Vaughn's real name!) tainting a huge hollywood production like this with an ex footballer turned shit poor actor! Oh and another thing, how the hell did Vaughn get this gig? Layer Cake featured a handful of decent shots (mostly stolen from Michael Mann) yet the rest of the movie was largely shit. He gets a film like XMen3 on the back of that? I guess being a producer (knows all about deadlines and budgets) turned director can be very useful indeed. And he must've put in one helluva pitch. He'll fu** up the franchise, though, no doubt about it.

    by jamawalk

If they wanted to give Sabretooth a larger role in this film, perhaps with some dialogue, Jones is big enough and mean enough to pull off that part with some zeal. think about it.

    by BurlIvesLeftNut

Is that bland dude from X2 still playing Colossus? Vinnie could probably pull of a nice Russian accent. Also, who ever suggested Sawyer for Gambit deserves an award. I don't even like Gambit, but he would be for more tolerable with that guy playing the role. Oh and Bob Hoskins as Harry Leland. <--- Would provide masturbatory fantasies for the rest of my life!

I thought Cudmore was potentially really good. Shame and surprising they dropped the accent as they kept Wagner's German lilt. But I thought Cudmore provided one of the best moments in X2. "I can help you". Criminal that people like Shane Meadows, Chris Cunningham and John Glazer get marginalized and poncey little daddy's back pocket dwelling pretend eastend badboy Loaded FHM Nathan Barley turdblisters like Vaughn and Madonna current footstool get the gigs.

JESUS CHRIST NO!!! This bellwhiff cant act his way out of the toilet... DO NOT put him in this movie. I hope SOMONE from Fox is looking at this talkback because putting this pisslid in a huge movie like X3 will just make it a laughing stock. No matter how cool and "bad-ass" anyone outside the UK thought he was in Lock, Stock or Snatch or Swordfish or even that wipe of a film Gone In 60 Secs everyone in the UK just laughs when they see that tool appear on screen trying to be serious.... Honestly - the WORST possible casting for X3.

    by TimBenzedrine

Three seems to be the kiss of death to comic book movies, going all the way back to Superman. Batman was only one and a half of a decent series, while some of the others fizzled out after one film. I guess this means Spider-Man 3 is destined to suck too.

    So what?

    by the beef

Vinnie is absolutely fine at what he does. He scares the shit out of me and I wouldn't necessarily want to fuck with him. Maybe I'm missing something, but hasn't pretty much every film he's been in been moreso a comedy than anything else. Snatch, Lock Stock, Mean Machine, etc. are all comedies. So when was it exactly that he was playing serious characters? I always thought his characters were played for brute laughs, and shit on me if you want but I laughed. So, how can one tell whether or not he can be serious in a role if he really hasn't had to play it yet? I sure as hell didn't think Marky Mark could do comedy until I recently saw I HEART HUCKABEES. Let it the fuck go!!!!!

Valmont1978, gotta disagree with you there...

    by mfluder

Being in a movie doesn't make you an actor, dude. That's exactly the kind of thinking the MTV-loving, coke-headed producers use to churn out the deluge of cinematic excretia currently crushing the last elements of talent out of this industry. On a more positive note, anyone who has the opportunity to go and see the last days of Hitler flick 'Downfall' should do so immediately. Saw it at the weekend, excellent stuff (the guy who played Hitler was superb, as was the rest of the cast).

Probably just a rumour like you say...

    by jasper Stillwell

...but really unless Jones is either in a non-speaking part or merely second grunt from the left then this. is. fucking. terrible. news. Matthew Vaughan is not only nowhere near Singer's league as a filmmaker but really concerns me is how fast Fox/Marvel are trying to turn this around on what should be the most ambitious and complex film of the series so far. I want this to succeed, I really do but on the evidence so far and in Vaughan's hands I fear the franchise is is in BIG trouble.

I am amazed that all these posters apparently have some idea who this guy is. I actually saw Lock, Stock but still have no idea who he is. Not that X-Men needs "big stars," of course. Tangentially, I am trying to think of a worse X-Character than Cable, but....can't seem to think of one. I hear Stacy X was bad, but wasn't reading X-books at that time.

    by samsquanch

We're not looking for "Sideways" with super powers, are we? Paul Giamatti as Beast, Thomas Hayden Church as Gambit, Sandra Oh as Psylocke, and Virginia Madsen as the White Queen! I'm sure Vinnie whatsisname could pull off a passable superhero, and we could all forgive the slight flaws in his delivery. He's a sight better than Keanu, anyhow, not that that's saying much. I could see Vinnie as Juggernaut. Thats about it. Big, stupid, and inarticulate. Who would you want for a character like that anyway, Alan Alda?.....................One more thing guys, would you PLEASE aknowledge, and accept, once and for all, that in any possible concievable script for this movie you will NOT SEE Mr. Sinister, Cable, or any of those other ridiculous characters with even more absurdly complex and convoluted histories than any soap opera...goddamn.
