SPOILER ALERT !!

I am – Hercules!!

It’s a private-eye series from John McNamera, the guy who co-created “Profit” with David Greenwalt, then went solo with the likes of “Vengeance Unlimited,” “The Fugitive” and “Fastlane.” It stars Tim Daly (“Wings,” “The Fugitive”) Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon (“NYPD Blue”), Rick Worthy (“Enterprise”) and A.J. Langer (“My So-Called Life”).

The Hollywood Reporter says:

… a stylish and sexy private-eye drama brimming with surprises. … Daly shows a flair for fast-talking as Judd, a compelling figure and, at times, an enigma … The second episode, also made available for review, suggests that chemistry among cast members will continue to grow and the pace will remain as enjoyably frenzied. … distinctive and watchable characters. … surprise twists and hairpin turns. …

Variety says:

… manages to somewhat freshen the formula with clever twists and playful banter. Sparked by surprisingly dark moments and an attractive cast … McNamara, who previously collaborated with Tim Daly on CBS' "The Fugitive" revival, has a knack for high-energy storytelling … exchanges reveal a smartass attitude that Daly handles with aplomb, if at times a bit too glibly for either his or the show's good. … slickly assembled product …

USA Today gives it three and a half stars (out of four) and says:

… Blessed with a strong cast and great characters … has a clearly delineated, interesting ensemble … Through most of Wednesday's opening hour, the show maintains a near perfect tonal balance, adeptly mixing its high-tech sting plot with flashes of tongue-in-cheek humor.

The Los Angeles Times says:

"Eyes," a likable new crime melodrama that premieres tonight on ABC, stands for "private eyes," an elision clearly meant to make the enterprise sound mysterious and sexy and contemporary — which it pretty much is, at least enough to provide some decent midweek fun. … Burgess is one of those bad guys who likes a good laugh, even at his own expense, which in some funny way just indicates the depth of his depravity. … The plots are clever enough, in their Swiss cheese way, and the soap-operatic underpinnings quite seductive, and offer at least twice per episode the deep satisfaction of the well-sprung trap. …

10 p.m. Wednesday. ABC.

    ABC's last shot to...

    by i87d

... take all four of the top drama premieres this season (i.e. total audience for the first episode of a brand new show). The only show in the top 4 that's not on the network is CSI: NY. Can EYES debut bigger than NY did? Can ABC get the 4-fecta?

I already have this set to record on my DVR. Hope it's decent. Lost, Alias, and Eyes right in a row? Gotta love the possibilities.

... show about private detectives. How refreshing... (it ain't the setting, it's the execution).

A PI show is quite a novelty. A show about a PI firm is even moreso. Sounds interesting. I'll definitely check it out.

Hell, there is only three lawyer shows and that's combining half

with Boston Legal and L&O: Trial by Jury. So a PI show could be a breath of fresh air. Ya know, I forgot about Kevin Hill, but then, so have most people.

I second that, brother. If she's half as hot as she was on that show...ooohhh, I'm having evil thoughts.

Tim Daly was the second-best Superman (after Chris Reeve, of course).

This show looked annoying. And the ads reminding me to watch it EVERY commercial break through Lost and Alias were enough to encourage me to turn OFF my tv.

Better than I expected. By the way, am I the only one sick of ABC touting "Jake in Progress" as its newest "hit" show? Who's watching this crap?

    Regarding Jake in Progress....

    by charlemagne 2.0

ABC is just desperate to get a sitcom hit in this new television landscape. The bumbling clueless dad is now out of vogue and the stilted Man-Boy with commitment issues is now the flavor of the day.

  • ... more talkback occurs before the show airs, then after. Makes me wonder if it still counts as a "talkback" is it's really just "talk-before"!!!! ha!!!! (I'm so funny... it's a shame this bit of wit will get lost in a forum no one is reading anymore)
