Battlestar Galactica new series still in talking stage

Harry here, with his usual incomprehensible writing style. No, Glen is still in charge, but I couldn't stop myself from putting this report up. I could claim it's because Glen's eyes have been messing up, and I wanted to save him the stress of working at his computer in his handicapped state, but that's just crap. I'm doing this because I LOVE BATTLESTAR GALACTICA more than Glen!!!! Hahahahhahaha! (Glen's gonna kill me) And I wanted to share that with you...

Don't know if you heard this tidbit or not but seeing how 1998 is th 20th anniversary of Battlestar Galactica I started doing some research and ended up on Richard "Apollo" Hatch's web site. Appearently he is trying to get a rivival going for the television series (which I personally loved..though I could never really get into when they got to earth with the cub scouts). Heres an excerpt from his july 98 news letter...

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA UPDATE

We have had several meetings with Universal and Barry Diller's Company concerning many different approaches to reviving the series. I feel very confident at this time that these companies are beginning to take Battlestar Galactica very seriously, and it is only a matter of time before we bring our plans to fruition. I have never believed so much in a show or a concept as much as I have in Battlestar Galactica.

There are too few shows that touch the public consciousness in a profound way and Battlestar Galactica is one of them, even with all the imperfections, mistakes and normal problems that go along with a first year show. In the case of Battlestar Galactica, these were magnified many times over because of particular circumstances that were present during that time. Please check out "Who Killed Galactica" listed on the Battlestar Galactica page of my site. Battlestar Galactica managed to touch a deep cord in many of us including those who were not normally sci-fi fans. The questions that Battlestar Galactica raised and the powerful theme of humans evolving elsewhere in the universe and searching for their long lost brothers and sisters in a far away universe capture the hearts and imaginations of a people from all ethnic, cultural, sociological and geographical backgrounds. We are all human beings and we are searching for our roots.

I would love to work together with an incredible team of artists, visionaries and gifted producers and businessmen to pose some probable questions and answers to these areas that we are all so curious about, both individually and collectively as the human race. Every day as I travel around to conventions, publicizing the show and keeping everyone informed about what is happening with Battlestar Galactica. I find such tremendous support, love and passion for the show that I feel very fortunate to be a part of it. I admit that at the time of the show I did not have such a clear perspective as I do today on what the show is capable of becoming. But I must tell you, that now with all the research, and personal interactions with so many fans, writers and creative collaborators, I know that Battlestar Galactica can be one of those rare, rare moving and inspiring experiences that we all strive so passionately for.

A little preachy...but what the heck....you can find the rest of the info here Richard Hatch's Place
