The power of Schrader compells you! Paul Schrader's EXORCIST flick trailer and images online!!

Published at:  Feb 24, 2005 6:45:11 AM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here enjoying my last few days in Wellington... so, yes I'm still on dial-up... The trailer for Paul Schrader's EXORCIST flick that didn't get released (but is thankfully playing Brussels FF soon, so it'll be making the rounds) is currently about 2.7 megs out of 8.0 megs with 17 minutes left on the download. I do get to look at pretty pictures on the below site, though, so I'm occupied. From the looks of things, Schraders looks much less CG... I can't wait to hear the trailer and see the make-up effects pictured on the below linked site moving. The bald headed dude creeps me out, but I'm not sure if it's a good creep out or a cheesy one. I expect nothing less than wanting to shower after watching a Paul Schrader movie. He's a master at bringing the filth of humanity out on the screen, then coating the audience with it. I can't wait to see this flick... Now I only have 14 minutes left on my download! Yipee!!!

Hey Harry,

How's the leg brotha?  I hope and trust that flesh, bone and spirit are all mending nicely.

I suspect you've seen it already, but just in case, here's a link to a trailer for Schrader's EXORCIST entry along with a photo gallery.

Keep up the good fight.  BeAst WisheS -- L

Yay for me! At least it can't be worse than Harlin's piece of junk which I saw recently.

    Why assume?

    by harosa

Why does everyone seem to assume this version is going to be so good? The basic idea for these sequels havent exactly been universally praised and werent the basic outlines of both movies almost the same? I wonder if people are going to give this love just to spite Harlin's version, kind of like i think people will blindly praise Romero's Dead movie, even if it sucks.

and this trailer won't work for me. Pics look alright though (although for all I know they could look exactly the same as the other version).

    Now THAT is creepy

    by darth kong

Some of the imagery is disturbing, particularly the bald guy and the guy sitting up in the hospital bed. Don't you think?

  • What they're really assuming is the fertile possibilites of a directer like Schrader and a property like The Exorcist. They really want it to be good because they know that the original film is the granddaddy of horror flicks. They're pissed off and resent Warner Bros for bringing in a loathed action director to punch up and dumb down a film with gore & CGI that should be psychological horror. They desperately want a masterpiece of horror from a talented cerebral director like Schrader and not some hack cheap thrillfest that exploits the 1973 pedigree.

    Is Harlin REALLY loathed?

    by darth kong

He has made some good flicks. Sure, he has made some CRAP in recent years, but I still like to remember him as the director Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea and Long Kiss Goodnight.

Well, Harlin's films are hardly three dimensional.

    by jaguart

We don't want a goddamed Exorcist "popcorn flick" and the likelihood of someone saying
"Ultimately, EXORCIST IV: The Beginning is a smart, provocative package that will reflect the evolving sensibility of Renny Harlin..." is pretty slim.

    Harlin's version was enjoyable.

    by some dude

Gory, mean-spirited, and colorful, it used Christina mythology in an entertaining way way, that is just as plausible as the work it is inspired by. Recommended. It makes more sense if you view it as a sequel to "The Passion."

    That should be "Christian mythology."

She's had a breast reduction, and if you shaved her noggin' hell she'd be pretty terrifying.

    by nflrefugee

Yeah, it looks neat, but aren't some of you just assuming its better because the studio didn't like it? Aren't horror sequels (ok prequels) beneath the talents of Paul Schrader? I mean the guy is one of the best screenwriters ever, and he's helming a prequel to a franchise no one really cares about. I don't know about this.

Did "Long Kiss Good-Night" ever actually come to the theatres? I remember hearing absolutely nothing about it until it came to my video store.
