3rd Particularly Cool HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY TRAILER Seen At WonderCon!

Published at:  Feb 22, 2005 8:40:48 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here and this sounds like a wonderful trailer... and I want to see it right now! Using the Guide to be self-referential and irreverent to the very concept of trailers is so very Douglas Adams that it fills me with glee. Now... if only they had workable Guides as promotions. That's what I want!

Greeting from another S.F. WonderCon attendee!

I don?t know if anyone has mentioned this or not, but
another Hitchhiker?s Guide to the Galaxy trailer
debuted at WonderCon last Saturday.

It was basically
Stephen Fry (as the book) narrating what the
Hitchhiker?s Guide had to say about movie trailers.
It listed the elements that a good trailer should
include such as explosions (several stock footage of
explosions are shown), beautiful women (stock footage
of a woman in a bikini), and an announcer that sounded
as if he?d been smoking cigarettes (Stephen Fry?s
voice changes to a much more traditional and deeper
voice). It then when on to include lots of new
footage including footage of a very dejected Marvin
whose voice (Alan Rickman) we actually hear in this
trailer. I only saw it once and I was laughing so
hard that It?s hard to recollect more of the
specifics.

I walked in on the panel at the very end,
so all I caught was the trailer and a brief Q&A
session. The paddles, which whack our heroes in the
face at the end of the second trailer, were explained
in the Q&A session as being the driving evolutionary
force for the Vogon?s upturned noses.

That sounds pretty damn cool. Not necessarily as a trailer, but

Although where exactly was the paddle-thing scene supposed to take place? I assumed it was Margrethea, but the Vogons never went there...

Sounds similar to the Jerry Seinfeld trailer for The Comedian. Whatever happened to that film? Never saw the light of day here Engerland. I am one of the looking forwarders to HHGTTG. Nice to see blockbuster sci fi vision with surreal sensabilities.

This movie goes beyond geeky to faggy

    by rupee88

I revel in many geek movies, but this just seems too anti-edgy and lame and faggy for even me.

This is how a HHGTTG trailer should be

    by bruticus

I want this movie to be dripping with satire.
