Has anyone seen this picture yet, of the Jedi Temple burning? http://img214.exs.cx/img214/4458/jeditempleburning012bp.jpg - It looks awesome - it's reminiscent of 9/11, somewhat. Probably intentional?

    Plethora of Pics

    by bubcus

Well, my desire to see the film is steadily increasing and these pics are warming me up nicely. I almost feel like this is the only "big" movie happening this summer... it's weird... everything seems so quiet... like a calm before the storm. I think I've had my fill of spoilers now... I think I can close up and await the trailers and then to the theater I go. Great pics, by the way... I really like the aesthetics and the dark tone. I hope this is good. PS: I am looking forward to seeing what George is planning next... apparently he'll be going back to his THX 1138 roots of experimental film... strangely, I am looking forward to seeing that (and for some reason, due to recent showings on TV, I have really started liking "Howard the Duck"...). Do I need help now? =P

I can't believe Yoda is going to get his arse kicked by Sideous, I kinda feel sorry for the little rascal. I always thought that he was unbeatable, what with lifting X-Wings out of Swamps, munching on cereal bars, and cooking up grey soup. I just hope that when you watch 'Sith' you actually care about what happens to the characters, like you do in 'Empire', or else its all for nothing, just a great looking video game. Good to see this site finally getting a new look, keep it up!

Dunno who it is, but it sure as shit ain't Big G - it's probably G's right-hand man. The pic of Anakin standing over Dooku is fantastic though - where the hell does this guy get this stuff from, and why hasn't Lucasfilm pulled them down yet? I'm still trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible, but I couldn't resist this. Did you see the pic of Lucas as Papa Nerd? Good grief, that man is portly!!

    haters ball

    by smackfu

At this point, with all I've heard and seen of the upcoming movie, I'd have to say flat out that the Lucas bashers are starting to sound like complete fags. This movie has a dark and almost sinister tone, there was a Variety article a couple of weeks ago where Lucas said that even at it's most toned dow and heavily edited, parents should be warned that this movie is too disturbing and at some times brutal for young children to watch. ***SPOILERS**** I don't care if the dialogue is overdubbed by the Muppets, in 3 months you're going to get to see a Star Wars movie where the main character *murders* half the cast of the movie. This movie is morbid from start to finish...

    Reply to Talkback

  • Because these films look magnificent on a big screen, crappy dialogue or not. Just by the by, do we think that is a shot of Yoda navigating his was through an asteroid field using only the power of the Force? That would be pretty cool, but haven't they overdone the asteroid field thing a bit now?

    by weedymcsmokey

Admittedly, this is one I've been waiting for - the turn of Anakin to Vader. It's just too bad it took two clumsy efforts to get us here. The story feels as if it fits better into the whole Greek Mythos of the original trilogy. That and more fighting.

    Reply to Talkback

  • If he keeps this as tight & focused as it seems so far, "Revenge of the Sith" might not only make up for the last three debacles, but be a legitimate great in its own right. Remember, George: 1) Anakin goes bad & becomes Vader. 2) Palpatine reveals himself, destroys the Jedi, and takes over the Galaxy. 3) Obi-Wan & Yoda grab the newborn Luke & Leia and go into hiding. THAT'S IT. That's the story that's been 30 years in the making. Leave out the pointless sub-plots (or is that sub-plotz?), and swap out the painfully cheesy dialog for violence, horror, and disaster... you'll have the fans lined up around the block, just like in 1977.

...about all the preview images and leaked plot points of this prequel indicating it will be head and shoulders above the other two storywise and might have some dyed-in-the-wool Lucas haters acting all warm, fuzzy and forgiving come opening day. But your "fag" remark undermines the sense you seem to make. Grow the fuck up and come to terms with your repressed homosexuality. Then you might be capable of contributing meaningfully to a discussion of sci fi movie aesthetics.

Bored senseless by the last two, but I've been sucked back into being hyped for this one. Really, this is the only film Lucas really ever had in mind, the other two were just bloated plot points since Lucas wanted another trilogy, so maybe this is the one he'll make right.

I like what I am seeing and after reading the spoilers...I love how the story is involved and dark...No way this thing gets any rating less than PG-13. Of course, the quality of the movie lies in the execution. Although I am in the Matrix camp, I want Episode III to be a success that enhances the quality of the original triology! Fingers crossed!

Why the robot is wearing a cape

    by greedonevershot

If you notice, the cape bears pronged stripes on several spots. These look exactly like the "pronged stripe" cutouts extending upward from the eyes on Grievous' helmet. The adorned cape could be a symbol of their allegiance to Grievous, much like the Uruk-Hai carrying flags and wearing armor bearing the white hand of Saruman.

For me the Clone War cartoons save the prequels.

    by orionsangels

They give the character validity, life if you will. I care about the characters in the clone wars cartoons. Attack of the clones seemed different after watching the cartoon. It's like we get to see these cartoon characters in live action form and they're characters we know better, what they've been through and how they got to where they are. Along with better acting. So watching the prequels starting from AOTC to ROTS. It's like watching old friends. Lucas owes a lot to Genndy Tartakovsky.

    Robot in a cape

    by panthermatt

I'm loving people ragging the fact that a robot is wearing a cape. For God's sake, are you really looking for logic in a Star Wars movie? Star Wars??? It's about outer space green dudes, laser swords, and giant slugs who like dressing human females in bikinis!!! And you're looking for the logic of a ROBOT wearing a cape. You know what? just settle back in the chair and have a good time for a few hours. You can worry about things like paying rent when you're done...

Also, if you don't know already: the entire Star Wars saga started when Lucas decided he wanted to make a new sci-fi, Flash Gordon-y space flick, for the kids. Many design elements of the SW Saga are lifted from Flash Gordon. Dudes wore capes in Flash Gordon for no good reason, so there you go

NEW RULE: People who knock TPM for being childish just don't get

    by bill maher

Go watch "The Searchers", which was a huge influence on George Lucas. Half the movie revolves around Ethan Edwards' obsession with finding and killing his niece who was abducted by Injuns. The other half is about his sidekick Martin Pauley and his harebrained courting of the Jorgensen's daughter. Why is part of the story so dark and serious while the rest is so goofy and corny? Was John Ford a "hack"? FUCK NO! Without the goofy cornball scenes like the wedding, "The Searchers" is one big downer. Without the goofy antics of Jar Jar, the cringeworthy courtship of Anakin and Padme, without the pod races, the "Roger-Roger" robots, and the other silly stuff, the prequels are an even bigger downer. If you want six hours or more on nonstop depression, watch a Bergman film or listen to the Moody Blues albums of the late sixties/ early seventies.

Not for my sake, because I don't mind the prequels.. but for everyone out there who feels that they have been hurt by the last two.. I want the to feel some redemption for actually investing the time and money to watch movies who they feel are not worth the time or money. I don't want them to just finally come out of a Star Wars (prequel) movie saying "Now THAT was worth the price of admission" I want them to think (if only in secret) that the movie was worth the last two movies... I hope you all enjoy it. By the way, here are some banners for the film.. http://www.canalpop.net/news/5921/ check it out...
