The new and awesome RING TWO trailer is released in quicktime!!!

Published at:  Jan 07, 2005 4:55:56 PM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with the trailer for RING TWO and boy does it kick ass. The original Japanese series started going down hill immediately after the first film. RING 0 was godawful and tried to explain too much at the expense of contradicting some of the previous films. RING 2 had that great chase up the well wall (glimpsed in the remake trailer), but other than that it was a pretty limp movie.

I'm one of the people that loves the RING remake, but still prefers the original Japanese version. If RING TWO is half as good as this trailer promises it to be, then I'm fully expected it to blow the Japanese film out of the water. Big time. Enjoy!!!

Visually the film looks great, and director Gore Verbinski seems to be once again channeling the look and feel of "Silent Hill" at times. And it does seem like there will be some exciting set pieces (deers in the woods looked interesting). However I don't see how this is going to be much different than the first movie...someone watches the tape, it ultimately effects Naomi Watts' son, and then she has to try and find a way to stop the ghost. What's new?

    by pencil-man

Holy crap! I am TOO SCARED to see this one if the faces of the bodies are going to be all fucked up. They mention it in the trailer. Does anyone know if Rick Baker is doing makeup again? Honestly people, the last time I couldn't watch a movie was Ghostbusters- the taxi driver and the library ghost scared me to shit. But, if it's good, it's good, and I'll but it. i love Japanese cinema, they seem to know the horrors of the world.

The trailer is interesting, but not great

    by sexybeast

I loved the American version of The Ring, but this sequel, while interesting, doesn't seem to be quite the scare or suspense of the original.

    Looks good

    by harosa

I think this looks good and a nice twist on what couldve been an obvious retread of the first film. The Japanese sequel to the original offered some nice ideas also and Im glad the director of the originals is involved.

    by remcycle

This looks a bit too much like Dark Water for it's own good. All the water/bathtub stuff mixed with the little girl that wants to "be" the heroine's child...it'll be a fun flick, but nothing original here, boys and girls...

    lame

    by rupee88

Looks contrived and they are crow barring this new story onto the first film which had a satisfying resolution. Gotta make that money though and this film will make millions. I won't waste time with it though.

rick baker's exellent efx plus the bukake some talk-backer mentioned earlier..a pleasant combination rarely used..although the folks at Anabolic Pictures are talking to ILM about doing something similar but on a bigger scale (think Ten Commandments w/ Moses parting a sea of cum)..

Let's hope he's going to improve on the original sequel. It was ok, but nothing compared to the first film. Every time I saw that kid, i kept having "Akira" flashbacks, particularly that hallway scene.

    by gluecifer

The best until now: Ring (not Ringu, for fuck's sake!!!!!), the original Japanese version.

The second best: The "real" Ring 2: The spiral (Rasen), on DVD (UK), not horror or terror at all, but SF! Harry, have you seen this one????? I'm sure you haven't!

Then on the same level: Ring 2 (Japanese one), Ring (US remake) and Ring 0 (very different from the first two Japanese ones but not that bad).

The worst: the Korean remake, Ring virus.

Let's wait for the sequel to the American remake!

    by bitchnig

I loved the first movie (the USA version), it was just about the scariest movie I've ever seen - right up there with The Others, Six Sense, An American Werewolf in London, and Pet Sematary. And the trailor looks really good! So why won't I see it you ask... 'cause I'm a big pussy... it took me months before I could walk in front of a 'turned off' tv at night without feeling utter terror. Yes I think I'll put on dress and sit this one out.

    Ring vs. Ringu

    by topaz4206

Liked em both but I felt Ring was more of a "Thriller", while Ringu had me frowning (in a good way) the whole time, more of a "Dread" movie, which is a GOOD THING. The score, FORGETABOUTIT, Ringu has one of the best horror scores EVER! I call it "ambient anxiety". Watch it again and LISTEN. It's amazing. And the "crawling out of the TV" scene? NO COMPETITION, wayyyyy scarier in RINGU. Watch Ring again, when "Samara" crawls out of the tube, she starts 'flickering' like TV static, which really takes away from the effect. In Ringu, it's so DISTURBING, plus the creepy disjointed walk! And the MONEY SHOT, the Sadako/Samara money shot. Again, NO CONTEST. In Ringu you get the infamous "HORSE EYE" shock-zoom close-up! If you were to think of the most memorable/creepy SINGLE IMAGES from horror films OF ALL TIME the 'Horse Eye Sadako Close-Up' would easily be in the top 5 EVER. The U.S. version copped out, and only offered a 'tribute' shot extreme-close-up of HORSE EYE, with pull back to reveal.... *Sigh*, a horse. And THE VIDEO TAPE, a key element. Ringu's video actually looks like a production of Hell, Inc., while Ring's video looks like USC Film School "Avant-Garde" silent film showcase, way too overproduced. Anyway I own them both and paid actual $$$ for each of them, snootch.

    BUKKAKE

    by topaz4206

What in the world are you talking about?!?!? You musn't tease, us bukkake-heads are very sensitive. Please enlighten me. I'd even enjoy some "pseudo-bukkake", like someone throwing a bucket of water at Naomi's face, then I could freeze frame it at the precise moment of bukkake-esque-ness (come on, that's a word), and get myself off that way. *Sigh*, humiliation-porn enthusiast is a full-time job.

    Ringu was Better?!

    by ioiiooo

Is it some sort of geek street cred thing to automatically have to like the Japanese version better? I loved the US version of the Ring, so when Ringu was released on DVD, I was excited to see it...but what a disappointment. Unscary editing, the non-death due to "magic" or whatever, it was just so much more lame. The Ring is one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen, while Ringu kept us laughing the whole way through. The Ring Two trailer looks very creepy as well.

I hated Ringu. I actually saw it before I saw the remake.

    by mr. profit

Whats so fucking scary about a little punk ass girl who before she kills the cheesy effects look as if she took a polaroid in black and white of you. I only thought one scene was good, the black and white scene where Sadako killed I believe a reporter. But the original was boring. The remake was cooler. It wasn't scary, but it was creepy. And if The Grudge can make money being a wack movie, then Ring Two will make money.

    Looks OK . . .

    by nice marmot

. . . I loved the American version. Haven't seen anything else. This new one looks ok but seems to be lacking in atmosphere. It's too colorful if that makes any sense. And the bunch of deer attacking the car scene seems like a desperate rehash of the horse on the ferry scene (combined w/ the baboon car attack from the Omen. Warped me as a kid!)

I like the fact that they actually have to deal with the shit they set in motion in the first one. I wonder if they will reveal that her mom and dad made a deal with the devil to have a baby...

  • Yeah, I'm talking to YOU, harry knowles. The original "ringu" was too loud and grating. For once the remake improves upon the original. now that's not necessarily the same for "pink panter", "the vanishing", "assault on prec. 13", "willy wonka", "planet of the apes" or countless other films...but I digress. To say "oh the original is STILL better" is pure austin snobbishness. Blah.

    by topaz4206

I see. Yes it is one of my favorite genres. I especially love the ones where they start as regular porn, then slowly step-by-step, convince the girl to do more and more things, until she "graduates" into the BUKKAKE-DUNGEON. These are great because sometimes they perform like champions ("The heart of a champion" - Homestar), and other times they just CAN'T CUT IT. Sometimes she begs them to stop in the middle of it, and even runs away crying. Now THAT is cinema! Although I must admit, even I get a little queasy when they chug down the "cum bong" and it's got yellow clumpy-lumps in it. Blech!

I guess as long as we're on the subject, I might as well mention that there's some good PSEUDO-Bukkake of the gorgeous EVANGELINE LILLY to be had in the HDTV rip of the show "Lost" Episode 12, at the 05:29 mark. Watts ruined The Ring for me.

    by oompa_radar

I enjoyed Ringu, and I enjoyed the Ring, sans Naomi Watts, who is usually quite good. Even if her character was supposed to be that shallow and bitchy(which according to Ringu, it wasn't)...Watts' performance was just so flat, lame and uninspired. I am afraid that this sequel will have some kind of equivelent factor. I'll see it anyway, but likely I'll order the DVD free from my public library system...........
