Woody releases his trailer for MELINDA & MELINDA his latest sad bit of hilarity!

Published at:  Dec 22, 2004 3:02:56 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here... I'm fascinated to see what Will Ferrell comes up with out of this form of comedy. You see - this seems to be far less physical humor and much more of the verbal banter... something that is a different sort of comedy muscle for him. Watching him in the trailer... well, the key thing I like is he doesn't seem to just be doing a Woody Allen impersonation - which too often seems to be the case when Woody brings in an actor to play the "woody" role. While - it very much seems the case that Will is in that position in the film... just his natural tendencies seem to be taking the character in a different direction and feel. I like that. Well, let's see where Woody takes this one, it seems to have a neat framing device. I hope it works great, love a good Woody Allen film.

Tears spring from laughter and sadness, joy and depression - which will come for you in 05 from Woody Allen? Check out the trailer and see!

There are some funny moments with clever wordjokes a la Allen. Could his dry spell be over?

    Saw this in Valencia, Spain

    by seniormoogle

Yeah, I caught it in Spain too. It was a good little movie, had a real warm feel to it. The dialogue is contrived as fuck though, like all Woody Allen. Its no Manhattan, but it has heart, and its an interesting experiment becuase it tells the same story from two very different perspectives...comedy, and drama, both succeed. Farrel is only in the comedy perspective, and by no means is representing Woody Allen.

the passion of the woody fan

    by silver shamrock

it's sheer agony and embarassment, but I'll still see every movie this fucker makes. If I could sit through Kenneth Branaugh doing a woody impression, I guess I can sit through Ferrel doing it. I wonder if Woody got a blowjob from Cloe Sevigny, everyone else has.

    Wood-Yi

    by splbrg75

Maybe it's just me, but I think the Woody Allen period pieces are more enjoyable than his contemporary stuff. And by the way, couldn't Apple make the trailer a little bit smaller??? I LOVE watching movies that are the size of a postage stamp!!!

    Quicktime larger version

    by howardroark

Hey splbrg75 - i think if you change your Quicktime setting from modem to Broadband, the trailer will be bigger. Don't know why Apple still has the default to modem when we're in a broadband world.

    MIddle Aged Upper Middle Class

    by wolfmannards

This looks like a great picture for the middle aged upper middle class demographic. I hope they enjoy it, and talk about it to all of their dinner party friends.
