Texas People!! Want to Watch Some BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Episodes With Herc Friday''

I am – Hercules!!

Some 26 hours in Austin’s Original Alamo Drafthouse might be enough for some people, but not for Hercules T. Strong.

Very very late Friday night, the night before Butt-Numb-A-Thon, the Drafthouse is running a “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” singalong, screening “Hush” and “Once More With Feeling,” two of the best episodes of the finest TV series ever forged. Episodes I’ve never seen with a live audience before, let alone a live DRUNK audience!

And for once it looks like I’m going to be in the right place at the right time, since I’m in Austin that night anyway for the next day’s Butt-Numb-a-Thon VI!

More info on the singalong is available here. I note that, sadly, the Friday singalong has sold out, but there are two more "Buffy" singalongs next Friday (Dec. 17) which benefit additionally from being wholly drunken-Hercules-free!

If you must go to the Dec. 10 singalong, I’ve an extra ticket! If you want said extra ticket, write me at immediately at herculesaicn@yahoo.com. Or at least write me before 8 p.m. Austin time today (Thursday). (As I post this it’s about 4 p.m. Thursday Austin time.) If this free ticket is yours, I’ll email you back by 9 p.m. Austin time.

(If you’re already coming to the Dec. 10 sing-a-long, do wander up and say “Hi.” My face is not as famous as Harry’s or Moriarty’s, so I’ll try to remember to wear my bright yellow Buffy Bash “staff” laminate.)

We need to have one of these sing-alongs in LA. Maybe we could even get a cast member or two to appear. I volunteer my guitar sevices if it ever happens....

Why must we all suffer when you do these constant events in the state were no hick is left un-prejudice? Do something in Los Angeles or New York (hell, even Vegas) or somewhere television and film (ya know, the thing this site is about) are staples. Your cool events, held in the uncoolest city around, are bringin' ya down.

    Pantera's Dimebag Darrell dead.

    by zer0cool2k2

Since this is a Texas related post, thought I'd post this here. Texas metal Icon Darrell Abbott, founding member of rock band Pantera and later Damageplan was killed during a Damageplan concert in Columbus Ohio, by a crazed gunman. http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1494653/20041209/damageplan.jhtml?headlines=true

    by Bart of Darkness

This is not cool and barely qualifies as news. Buffy fans, the people Trekkies look down on with pity?

  • Dec. 10, 2004, 9:33 a.m. CST

Yeah, I wouldn't mind going there next week.

    by Big Bad Clone

    OMWF

    by NormanOsborne

I loved this show it's first five seasons, and just liked it it's last two, so I can understand members of the fandom wanting to get together and watch a couple of old episodes. What I will never understand though, is the love that "Once More With Feeling" gets. It just doesn't do anything for me at all. And sometimes, it seems that I'm the only one that thinks it is way overrated by the Buffy fandom.

I'd love to got to a bar and watch buffy with only buffy fans,

    by jawaburger

unfortunately, that is looked down upon here in Illinois. And I think there are more episodes of Buffy than there are of Star Trek (the original series only, since that is what trekkies started with). Though buffy hasn't spawned any movies yet.

    Not the only one

    by spike fan

For me OMWF was overrated with a bunch of actors proving they are not singers and Joss Whedon proving he is not a song writer. But to be honest I thought seasons 6 and 7 (As well as Season 4) were pure s##t with some truly awful writing and some terrible acting from Geller who had the whole I am only her cause of my contract look on her face. For me the best Buffy season was 2 which for me had the best story and metaphor and the best villians Angelus/Spike and Dru and the best ending. 3 was ok but a bit over the map at the start and the crappy snake at the end did not do it for me.
