In Omaha on the 17th' If so, Forry Ackerman's got a whale of a tale to tell ya'!!!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a heads up to our Midwest readers! The man, the myth, the living legend Forrest J. Ackerman will be appearing at a screening of the awesome Disney flick 20,000 LEAUGES UNDER THE SEA with Kirk Douglas (singing!!!), James Mason and Peter Lorre being badasses, back when a live action Disney film was something to look forward to.
Uncle Forrey, for those who don't know, was the editor of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, the rag that inspired everybody working in genre today (and yesterday for that matter). With his awfully beautiful puns, self-inclusive writing style and over the top personality, Uncle Forry was Harry before Harry was Harry. Collector, film historian and just all around cool guy. I wonder if he's still wearing Dracula's ring?
This is a great film and great guest. If you're in Omaha, you can't get any better than this on the night of the 17th! Here's the info:
