In Omaha on the 17th' If so, Forry Ackerman's got a whale of a tale to tell ya'!!!

Published at:  Dec 06, 2004 11:44:26 PM CST

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a heads up to our Midwest readers! The man, the myth, the living legend Forrest J. Ackerman will be appearing at a screening of the awesome Disney flick 20,000 LEAUGES UNDER THE SEA with Kirk Douglas (singing!!!), James Mason and Peter Lorre being badasses, back when a live action Disney film was something to look forward to.

Uncle Forrey, for those who don't know, was the editor of FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND, the rag that inspired everybody working in genre today (and yesterday for that matter). With his awfully beautiful puns, self-inclusive writing style and over the top personality, Uncle Forry was Harry before Harry was Harry. Collector, film historian and just all around cool guy. I wonder if he's still wearing Dracula's ring?

This is a great film and great guest. If you're in Omaha, you can't get any better than this on the night of the 17th! Here's the info:

Tickets are $15.00 for adults, $10.00 for children under 12. Tickets available at all Omaha Hy-Vee Stores. For more information, call (402) 572-3180. Forry's one of the coolest and most accessible people in the industry. If you encounter him at a con, you won't regret saying hello to him.

    Vampirella

    by rengaw

I've meet and corresponded with him a few times. He is also the creator of "Vampirella", the scantily clad female vampire who just wants to have fun (and kill evil vampires).

    Fuck Omaha, indeed.

    by joe brady

Actually, I'm from there originally, and I would love to get back there for this event. However. What the fuck is up with Bright Eyes? If that's the best you can do, then try harder, Omaha. Sorry, I'm sure none of you care. Whiny little kids making whiny little music.
