Trailers for... BRIToons' VALIANT & MRB!

Published at:  Nov 29, 2004 6:22:21 AM CST

Hey folks, Harry here with some cool CG animated toonness from the the UK. Am I the only one that get flashes of CHICKEN RUN by VALIANT? Ok, just checking. That's not a bad thing, I love CHICKEN RUN and would love a variant. I've heard a disturbing rumor that we shant get VALIANT in theaters, but only on video and dvd in the States - Hope that isn't so. Besides, it has a great cast - and with a good ad campaign - I've heard those CG toon flicks kinda make a few shiny pennies here stateside.

Hi Syndrome

Just took in the incredibles in the UK (for the second
time naturally) and before it was a veritable
cg-a-fest of trailers including valiant and the magic
roundabout. Didn't see any links on your site so i've
got them below (I found them through
empireonline.co.uk). Now the second i didnt really
care for but as a british animator myself I had a
vested interest in Valiant, though after seeing the
trailer i'm still undecided, though I think the idea
of the Battle of Britain with messanger pigeons is
pure gold, I'm still geekin out over it.

Anyway heres the links

    About Roundabout

    by trevor goodchild

Avoid like arse cancer. Worked for the company producing it so I know what I'm saying.

I haven't seen the film yet, but...

    by i own you

The Magic Roundabout looks as complicated as any of the early morning programs I watch everyday on CBC over breakfast with my daughter. Why pay to see it?

I think both look pretty good

    by mansep

I especially like the look of The Magic Roundabout. And they both have great casts so they should both do really well... here in the UK at least. I agree that with a decent marketing campaign both films should do well in the US too. Those kinds of stories and characters have pretty universal appeal.

I'd see Valiant just to hear David Brent voice a pigeon, but they give you so much more! Let's hope it makes it over the pond.

  • ...is now available from 'emule' cos I just ripped my VHS copy the other day. A title like this should be available on DVD never mind VHS. Sadly, it is now deleted (and hopefully this post will not be removed) but let's hope it get's a new appreciation when the new movie arrives. The fact that Tom Baker (the fourth, and best, Dr.Who) has top billing gives me great hope for this. The animation looks kinda trippy to me and, as such, is in keeping with it's psychedelic origins. p.s. For those who don't know, D+TBC was the major influence of Nick Park and this is particularly evident in 'Wallace And Gromit's A Grand Day Out'.

    Blue Cat

    by trevor goodchild

I agree, an absolute twisted classic but the new film is Magic Roundabout in name only. All the ethereal nature of the Blue Cat and the original series has been completely gutted. You'll see more original work on Cartoon Network. It was made by a comitte of producers and has all the vision of a Cheesestring ad. The voice talent was chosen for celebrity status not character depth. Eric Thompson must be going round and around in his grave to the theme tune. Crying sellophane tears.

    Stupid as hell...

    by billyshakes

I'm not sure what you mean by this. How can you say after a, what, 40 second trailer that shows, like 3 scenes? Can you please elucidate? Pax.
