DINNER FOR 110 !! IFC

Published at:  Nov 25, 2004 1:55:53 AM CST

I am – Hercules!!

Why is IFC’s “Dinner For Five” the finest talk show ever engineered?

1) Drunkenness. Every show is taped inside a real restaurant, and available libations foil inhibitions.

2) Profanity. IFC bleeps nothing, which really helps when the drunkenness takes hold.

3) Editing. Though “Dinner For Five” is a half-hour show, it’s culled from hours of conversation. We only get to see the most interesting 30 minutes.

4) Favreau. The host usually has some sort of pre-existing relationship with all his guests. This, along with the drunken profanity, really helps along the candor. The conversation veers away from publicists’ agendas, and more toward stuff one really wants to know.

“Dinner For Five” is the best. Don’t miss the marathon. It kicks off Thanksgiving morning 8 ET; 5 PT.

    Fucking Canada

    by santos kauffman

Why is the IFC provided by Canadian satellite different from, and markedly inferior to, the regular one? We didn't get a single episode of that film school reality show which was supposed to be decent. A Dinner For Five marathon would have really made my day. Fuck.

Best one was the one with Reynolds, Durning, Deluise, and Reilly. Charles Durning and Jack Warden fought on the same undercard at Madison Square Garden! Durning and Reynold's father were near each other when they landed at Normandy on D-Day.

    Swingers

    by dr. robert

What's amusing is the amount of times Favreau shamelessly mentions Swingers. Carrie Fisher may look like hell nowadays but I love listening to her stories about getting wasted with Belushi and Akroyd on the Blues Brothers set. John Landis is fascinating too.
