CUBE helmer documenting Gilliam on TIDELAND' And what's NECROPOLIS'

Published at:  Oct 21, 2004 2:16:17 AM CDT

Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with a little info on what's new in Terry Gilliam's world, as well as a little bit on what that wicked soul who directed the original CUBE is up to. Some might think that directing a documentary on the making of a movie is a step down from a feature film, but those who don't believe directing a doc on the making of a Terry Gilliam film isn't just as rich and interesting as a feature would be haven't seen LOST IN LA MANCHA and THE HAMSTER FACTOR, which is the Doc on 12 MONKEYS. Unfortunately for Gilliam, and sometimes for us in the case of his MAN OF LA MANCHA, he's cursed with the most insanely troubled productions. If TIDELAND is a different story, we'll still get Gilliam's patented madness to entertain.

Anyway, all this is to say that I'm very much looking forward to what Vincenzo Natali does with his Gilliam doc before he's buried in work on the Paul WS Anderson produced NECROPOLIS. I'm not sure if "biological horror" is a sure bet, but looking at CUBE I'm damn curious as to what a Natali horror film set in a hospital will look like. Let's hope Anderson isn't a creative producer, eh? Anyway, thanks to THE HORROR CHANNEL'S DREAD section for the info! I should have some words with a certain Creepy Uncle about where the Horror Channel stands in the very near future, so keep an eye out for that one soon!

According to Dread Central Vincenzo "Cube" Natali
is currently at work shooting a documentary on the
new Terry Gilliam film Tideland !!!

Afterwards Vincenzo Natali will direct "Necropolis" a
"fusion of biological horror and ghost story" that
takes place in a hospital...

A movie doc to rival the genius of Hearts of Darkness??

    by moviemaniac-7

Sounds all great, but there was a glitch in the article. Paul WS Anderson? Gilliam, Natali and Anderson (the not PT-one) in the same article? Still, all sounds great... So far.

    CUBE director???

    by max404

Shouldn't it be mentioned that Natali made 2 movies AFTER "Cube": Nothing (2003) and
    Cypher (2002).

Both of which have shown that he has grown a lot since "cube"!

...just so you know, I read the first two sentences of your post and stopped. In other words, your off-topic ramblings are utterly ineffectual.

    I totally disagree

Cypher was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. Only had to track down the damn thing on a burned DVD since it never got released here. It was fantastic. And Northam should be the next James Bond. VN is a great director!

    CRONENBERG

    by neosamurai85

Love the man's work, but he is clearly influenced by H.R. Giger and F. Bacon. So I really can't say I mind people "ripping shit" from him. Dead Ringers is one of the most underrated films out there. The fly is a remake that had all it's best parts cut out. Peace.

Cronenberg is "The Master of Venerial Horror", not Biological. Peace.

    "Paul WS Anderson"

    by salvatoregravano

That's all that needs to be said about whatever it was/is/would be/will be. You can stop reading right after anderscum's name - its presence tells you everything you need to know, and, unfortunately, more than that.
