A "Serial Lover" from Germany's Fantasty Filmfest.

Father Geek here subbing for the Head Geek while he's rooting around those English studios for whatever coolness he can find for you all. Well, the Fallen Angel has sent in a final report from der Fatherland's Fantasy Film Festival that has been touring the German countryside the past several weeks. We've covered some of the films shown there and he/she adds another one to keep our eyes peeled for.

I just came back from the opening night of the 'Fantasy Filmfest' in Germany. Just in case that you
might be confused, this festival tours through 5 or 6 german cities. I read the Vampires, Perdita
Durango and Carnival of Souls reports from this festival (Munich?) but there was no
information about the opening night: Serial Lover.

This film rocks! It's one of the coolest dark-comedies I've seen in the past month. Well, some
people might be pissed off, because it's a french flic, but for those who liked Delicatessen and
City of the lost Children, wich I hughely admire, this is a MUST SEE.
What's this film about? Well, without giving too much away (no spoilers here) its basically
about that woman that has 3, uh well, 4 lovers. She loves them all, but because of the fact that
she's gonna be 35 the next day she invites them all to a dinner to choose one of them to start a
family thing. But this evening is going to be a complete disaster...
I'd call this film some kind of 'Trouble with Harry' multiplied by four - but this all happens in
ONE appartement.

I can't tell you more about this, because this would ruin the fun, but be asured: The cast is
brilliant, the plot totally crazed and the direction is entertainingly fresh and visually perfect.

Just call me the 'Fallen Angel'

.

Director's James HUTH gives a lot of fun to the viewers.
"Serial lover" is his first movie, but i'm sure in 5 or 6 years, this guy will be consider as a new great french director (as Jean-Pierre Jeunet or Jan Kounen.).
