Wanna See The MR. & MRS. SMITH Trailer'!
Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
I’ve been verrrrry curious about this one. Doug Liman did such a great job with THE BOURNE IDENTITY, and then sort of disappeared for a few years. Now he’s back, and here’s where you’ll get your first peek:
Hey Guys
We scored the trailer for Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Take Care
Robert SanchezNot sure if that’s the same trailer that will be on the upcoming DAY AFTER TOMORROW DVD or not, but check it out. I think Nick Nunziata described it as a mix between WAR OF THE ROSES and TRUE LIES. Certainly sums it up, and it looks like sleek, sexy fun to me.
"Moriarty" out.

I'll pass on this one, even though they snuck Vaughn in there.

If it was less explosions and more comedy it might of had me. Man do I hate tech-driven crime/assassin movies.

I haven't seen that preview yet, since my computer sucks. Back to the subject of Sky Captain, though, I can't quite get why it's a love-it/hate-it kind of a movie. It's just good old-fashioned sci-fi fun. While I can understand not liking it, I don't get why anyone should hate it.
-
But when I saw it, the dialogue was really quiet, totally overpowered by the mix. Is that how it's supposed to be, or was the theater I saw it in just screwed up? Why do people "hate" it? Because this site raved about it and gave it attention. And because some losers still think bashing good movies makes them look cool (some even sinking to the pathetic level of bringing it up on completely unrelated talkbacks - way to go, chump). At least if you're going to bash it, pick a plausable target like the script, the visuals are fucking gorgeous.
-
Original and bold - doomed to failure? It was worth it for the visuals alone plus the 20 minute scene with the Sallah-like guy that gave the whole thing a Raiders' feel...
-
Sky Captain was simply a huge disappointment. The lame story and uninteresting acting could not make up for the excellent visual effects. I was so excited about this film, and now...so let down. How could these people have created such a lackluster film with all that money at their disposal. I guess the joke is on me though, as they did manage to get my $10.50 and two hours of my life.

Mr. And Mrs. Smith looked like a pair of real SWINGERS. HA HA HA... God, I crack myself up sometimes. Seriously though, the movie did seem like a GO-er. HA HA HA... I'm on roll here. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were BOURNE to play these roles. HA HA HA... This could go on forever (Please, for the love of god, stop - Harry).
-
What the hell is wrong with you people? Oh yeah, this looks excellent too.
-
This looks like a great movie, equal fun and action with humor mixed in.

So this movie is basically Spy Kids...without the kids?
by minderbinder
Looks like they took the teaser section of the first SK movie and expanded it into a full movie. And I'm OK with that.
-
...the implication that all Smiths are assasins leading double lives. It's a gross sterotype! I am nothing but a humble grad student. (Man, wait 'till i get my hands on the basterd who blew my cover...)
-
And Liman did a great job on Go and The Bourne Identity. Mr. and Mrs. Smith should be real good.
-
Corny...
-
A pale imitation of a film. Definitely can't hold up to Nicholson and Turner. when will Brad Pitt finally stop wasting celluloid and take a costarring role on "joey"?
-
Looks interesting- at least Jolie won't be speaking in an accent this time. btw I thought Sky Captain was great too!
-
Or is the sound cutting out and the occasional pauses in the image intentional? As for Sky Captain, it was really good. Not terrible, not a vision of wonder ... just really good. Yes, the story was weak, but it was very well executed ... gosh, not unlike the original Star Wars that way. (Star Wars gets a few bonus points from me for being more visually original in its production design and technologically innovative than Sky Captain, though.)
-
Regardless of its final box office totals (McDonalds sells a lot of hamburgers but that doesn't necessarily mean they are the best), SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW was the best movie of the year followed very closely by Jet Li's HERO. Movies are a visual medium and each of these two films were like beautifully painted canvases brought to life. They were also both epic in scope and interesting to compare since both were examples of the hero myth as portrayed in eastern and western culture. These two movies alone made 2004 a great year to go to the movies.
-
but that looks pretty lame. should make for a nice rental though.
-
The best part about the trailer is that it didn't seem to give too much away about the plot. Rare in a trailer these days.
-
I totally hated Sky Captain. What a piece of garbage.
-
Bring it home, throw it in the home theater, get drunk, and scream at the tv. Oh, and also invite a friend of two over. . . so you don't have to sit in the basement alone.
-
DAMN, nevermind.
-
God dammit, it's no fun being right all the time, when I heard about AVP I knew it would be crap and I was right, when I first saw the visuals for Sky Captain, I thought it would be style over substance and guess what I was right again. Now this film Mr and Mrs Smith, the trailer makes me want to see it but I have a fear it might be crap, I hope to God I am wrong.
-
This is an example of a movie that doesn't look good...but I still don't want to see. Damn it.
-
I meant "I still want to see". Yeah, this'll probably get my $5 but...at least it'll be better than Spy Game, right?

Speak for yourself. You're entitled to your opinion, but what's with the "you" thing? Do you refer to yourself in the third person as well? Personally, an hour after *I* watched, *I* was still pretty excited about it.
-
but this sounds a lot like a remake of "Prizzi's Honor." And "Sky Captain..." is the worst movie of the year: poorly written, poorly acted, a major disappointment. Just a big, steaming pile of shit shown at 24 frames a second.
-
...fucking terrible.
